Can you adjust the fader course ? I use the bluebox with the launch control , if the fader are on the minimum it’s -96db but I would like to have it a little higher
I don't see the display of the blue box reacting to the fader movement during MIDI learn. Is that because you have to exit that mode before it takes over?
If you have to complete it on the computer who needs the novation? For an example like this I would have used and IPhone and assigned it a duty, you would had to use a Bluetooth splitter which would have been more informative. Just an observation. I have a black box and love it but I think this demo showed a lot of extra work when there didn’t need to be. Plus you have to have a novation! Everyone has a phone.
The Launchcontrol offers a more tactile approach as opposed to the Bluebox's touchscreen. An iPhone is just another touchscreen, which is fine if you love touchscreens.
I want to record multiple keyboards and guitars and vocals all on SD card also need it to connect to phone for live recordings and posts on social media . Is this capable of that or will I need another recorder ?
For some reason I hadn’t looked at this unit before, thinking it was a sampler and not a recorder. 🤔 I’ve been looking for something small, exactly like this, that I can use to setup Eurorack mixes, and simultaneously record stems! 🙀😻 it’s perfect for what I need, except.... I really need it to record the individual tracks pre fader (post gain but pre fader, EQ, and mutes) so that I’m recording my stems completely dry as they come into the Bluebox. 👍 hopefully you guys will switch it back to that way of recording in an update, or better yet make it a setting?

As a beginner synth/keyboard/grooveboxist i'm researching getting my first mixer/recorder and the 1010 bluebox looks the bees knees but just wondered what the pros/cons are between it and a slider/knob control portastudio - anyone been there/done that that can help me decide what path i should take on my bewildering journey please ? I’m new to the Bluebox but the question I have about is if I have 5 songs loaded up on the SD card (backing/midi tracks) and I want to play them during a live performance- can I play each song without menu diving to load them up in between songs? I’ve only used my bluebox to load some files to it but I haven’t really played them back in a performance setting. Just wondering how that would work. Thanks for the help!!
Currently, the bluebox does not respond to MIDI PGM messages so you would need to load new projects manually. But that can be pretty quick if you arrange your projects on the SD card first. (FYI - bluebox is audio only. It does not record or play MIDI)

The blackbox features 3 independent stereo outputs (or 6 mono), plus a headphone output. You can assign any of the 16 pads to a stereo output, or split a stereo output to 2 mono outputs.

Just got mine but unfortunately I can’t imagine keeping it. I had high hopes for it to fill the void for recording my modular gear, Pocket Operators, OP-Z etc but I never thought for a minute I can’t punch in the middle of a recording. In fact, you can’t even fast forward during playback? When your friend is like, ooh that breakdown was cool let me hear it again and you’re like, umm you need to listen to the entire track

I just got the blue box, but have not been able to source cables that actually fits, as i am in EU i have no plans to buy from Sweetwater, I wish you guys could influence Thomann and musicstore to recommend cables that actually fits the blue box. I love it, but cant use it.
Hey where did you source those small head 3.5mm jacks from? I’m finding that with the BlackBox the inputs are quite close together and most 3.5mm Jack heads are too bulky and are squeezed alongside each other 😞

Aaron, this is a great tutorial. I use my Blackbox and Bluebox in a similar way but I've yet to use a MIDI controller to control Bluebox faders. Something on my todo list.
Not directly because the iPad and Bluebox are both MIDI Hosts. You will need something between them - the Mio2 (iConnectivity) is a great tool for this.
Can you record direct from Eurorack modules to Bluebox and will Bluebox save as Ableton files? If so then it is what I am looking for to record modular stuff easier.

Yes, that's right. Once you exit learn mode the onscreen controls will show the current position sent via MIDI.

It is possible. You'll need a computer with a card reader to transfer the files.

You can purchase that cable (or adapter and other great products) from retrokits.com. it flips type A/B TRS MIDI.

How can I get audio played via omnisphere or Kontakt on my PC to go into the bluebox?
Connect an audio cable form your soundcard/interface to any input on the bluebox.

Bluebox looks awesome. Could files be transferred to computer via usb?
via MicroSD card. You can use multiple cards or just one. We have tested up to 1TB with success!

Currently, no. But the audio result of those movements are recorded.

When I record, it seems to only record everything as a full song It won’t record mute edits or solo edits in real time. Am I missing something?
The one thing is missing when I setup all of this to save the project as preset or at least duplicate it. It would be such a time saver!
It exists now. Save As Template from the File menu.

The bluebox will easily accept eurorack levels. The bluebox creates audio files for each track. You can drop those into any software to mix/edit.
