You could see her gaining in confidence as she went around the jumps. Also the trust in the people around her was evident, if you thought she could do it she tried and she did it.
I would like to applaud you Meg...after the release of that xc video with a certain pro involved... this laid back approach to learning cross country is what all your young riders need to watch. No whips no force just giving a young horse time to assess and gain their own confidence. Really well done. I am a fan of long lining around xc courses and this was a fantastic vlog showing everyone how it should be done.
This has to be one of my favorite videos you've ever done! It was absolutely wonderful to watch her learn so much so fast and have so much fun. I was overjoyed the moment she started getting keen on the fences, taking you to them and really going for it 💖💖💖 And she stopped tossing her head after each jump as well! Really great proof not only of what a good job you're doing with her, but of how well horses learn when they can trust that no matter what happens nothing bad will happen to them (even anything as small as an unbalanced rider.) This is so cool and I really look forward to when the other babies are able to do it as well!
Another super positive training experience for Dora and what a star she was. I think it's physically impossible for horses to be any sweeter or cuter than she is!
this vlog made me nearly cry meg!! dora looks absolutely amazing! not only has she grown up, she looks really well muscled and the shape she makes over jumps is really impressive.. i can't believe this is the same baby as a year and a half ago! this exercise is such a good idea to get horses out to cross country fences in a low stress way!!
Lovely, Lovely, Lovely! I just LOVE you Meg!! You are amazing with horses and I do love how you keep say lovely! You are like one of the best horse people I've ever met.
This was such a fun video! Dora is literally amazing, I love her! Been really loving your content Meg, video's like these teach me so much and give me so many ideas for the future!! Keep on doing what you're doing :)
This pony is just EPIC! think that this really helped her find her feet in the least stressful way possible! Cannot wait to see what the future holds for you two x
This blog was just so LOVELY Megan, really LOVELY! What a LOVELY girl Dora is and so LOVELY watching her jumping in the LOVELY sunshine. How LOVELY! 😂xx
I really think all young horses should be started over fences this way. I've seen a number of the same videos you probably did, Meg, and I really love this. It keeps them from getting too quick over fences, tearing away after them, etc., and leaves more of it up to them, so they learn to see a stride and figure things out without pressure.
Interesting to see how worried Dora was when she didnt get it right over a few, to begin with. Then she gained trust and was super. Whoever buys her will be very lucky, and I hope they are worthy of her. Harry Meade did a vlog where he was introducing a first-timer to baby Xcountry fences, and he did it all out of walk, on a very long rein. It was great to watch.
What a great way to get her confidence up. By the time she got to the bank, she was having a blast. Also, I got approximately 29 "lovely"s... Though I didn't go back and count from before the title card, and one might have been looped footage. lol... In all seriousness though, she's such a cute little pony, and I'm glad she's got you to help her grow up into something special.
I absolutely love doing this kind of groud work with my youngsters! I got my now 5 yo mare when she was 6 mo old, and I did a lot of ground work patterns and working over different (small) obstacles with her before she was even started under saddle. It gives them so much confidence and allows them to figure out their bodies on their own without a rider's influence. I now also use some of the ground work to help her settle when we go new places because it gives her something to do that she's very familiar with and helps her relax.
Really really like your whole concept & execution of today's training vlog. Love the outcome Dora showed. Well done to all. Very good very good! Stay safe.💙😎🐎
Super excited to watch this video! My old trainer was a huge proponent of jumping off and fixing it on the ground if you were having any issues with your horse. So this concept is not at all weird to me, I really hope it becomes more widespread. Helps the horse gain confidence which is awesome! Love seeing you promote groundwork 💜
I have loved so many of your Vlogs, but I think this is definitely in the top three. Fun for everyone, including the horse, and it was so interesting to see her sort her own legs out and figure out a good way to jump on her own. Her mental wheels were definitely turning.
Great vlog Meg. Dora is stunning and did fantastic jumping. Her confidence is growing immensely and you could see her enjoyment especially jumping the banks 😊 She is a beautiful pony and I did feel a little sad that some day she will be sold when you mentioned this!! I was thinking in your last vlog how nice it was to see Hannah 😀
My horse used to LOVE bananas, along with Pot Noddles too?! Found that out when it was on the side in the stable and Bladen knocked it on the floor then proceeded to start eating it! So as a treat I’d let him have some mixed into his feed at Xmas!! 🙂
You really inspire me because even though you could get hurt you do it. Even though I don’t have a pony or horse I still ride. Anyway who ever read this have a good day❤️❤️
she really made some progress here, shes really really smart and chill and i loved the way she approached the jumps when she got them, she wasnt going towards them in a stressed or fearful way
What a fantastic job you and Dora are doing she will go far with her knowledge that you are giving her and hope she can have someone else in the future to take her furthermore and maybe she will be a burmington pony. Good girl Dora 😇
Oh my god Dora is such a beautiful pony! You can really see her thinking about the jump, she is going to make someone (😭) a really super cross country pony! She’s incredible ❤️❤️❤️🌟🌟🌟🌟
I used to do this with my horse when he was a baby. In one session he was doing things like the steps into water and more Complex fences that would have caused a big upset with a rider on before. That one lunging session gave him the confidence x
You could see her gaining in confidence as she went around the jumps. Also the trust in the people around her was evident, if you thought she could do it she tried and she did it.
This is such a great thing to do with young horses.
No mm lo me

I so love how, really good horse people are always looking for ways to make the horses feel more safe and happy. You guys are the best! 🥇🏆👍🏻❤️
Dora’s so pretty! Well done Meg and Dora! ✨
Keep the Han commentary coming-the banter is the best!
Go little Dora!

She learned so much by doing this. So chuffed that you were able to do it. Best Regards to you all. From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Well done meg I like the way you let Dora do her thing like jumping
so nice seeing her build confidence ^-^ i also suggest showing her the jumps/letting her really inspect them before just "throwing" them at her
Thank you for these vlogs. Thank you to your sponsors for supporting such a positive role model for having the best experience with your horse.
