- Start with e4 and e5, then play Bishop C4 (Bishop's Opening) [0:03-0:10]. - Add a powerful attack to the Bishop's Opening by delaying kingside knight development [0:24-0:56]. - Push pawn to f4 before developing the knight to f3 for a stronger kingside presence [1:02-1:21]. - Exploit exchanges on f4 to develop your bishop and gain a central advantage [1:27-1:41]. - Respond to opponent's Knight g4 with pawn f5 to seize space and target their knight [2:41-3:09]. - Use Queen h5 to create a checkmate threat on f7 and bolster your attack [3:31-3:45]. - Develop your pieces aggressively, using Bishop g5 to disrupt your opponent's queen [4:02-4:20]. - Place your knight on d5 to intensify the attack against your opponent's king [4:27-4:35]. - In the face of pawn to g6, recapture with the f-pawn to maintain pressure [8:00-8:21]. - Utilize Bishop g5 to create a pin and exploit the absence of the g7 pawn [8:57-9:20].

I've been playing the Bishop's opening doing some of the rudimentary lines from Igor's video's from 2 years ago. I also started playing the Rousseau Gambit based on a suggestion from this channel. Only watching this video and the Bishop's Opening x King's Gambit video has made me realize how natural this opening will be for me to learn. The next thing for both of us to learn is the Vienna Gambit ;)

Hello from Argentina. I use it in the local chess in Torre Blanca to avoid the Falkenbeer countergambit in the King´s Gambit because when I do Bc4 and Nc3, I control d5 and I can transpose to the King´s Gambit without the Falkenbeer.
I think I know the answer to the puzzle. First you play pawn to h6 and after he captures it you play king to e7 and after black does whatever you play rook to g1.
That's a great observation!! Black suffers from back rank issues and there no moves for his rook. In best case scenarios, black would love to promote to a queen, however, white king comes closer and the black suffocates. H6 shuts down the only escape square for the king.
Hey, Igor Nation. Would you ever consider playing some of your openings against volunteers (maybe subscribers) and talking us through your thought process? I think that would make for a great series amd some awesome content!
Hello GM Smirnov, I have to disagree with your move Rh8 on the puzzle. Here is the quickest straight line that I see for white to win: Rxf8+ Kxf8 Rf1+ Black King has to move Kg8 Ke7 g6 h6 Black moves any piece, doesn't matter... Rf8 CHECK MATE Thank you for all the great content. I used to play the Italian but now only play Bishop's opening. Happy New Year!
hello, I've tried your solution to see if you are right, but even though it looks amazing you have a mistake in calculation. Rxf8+ Kxf8 Rf1+ Black King has to move Kg8 -> so far so good, but now you put "Ke7" and as a response to that black moves "g6"?! - why would he move that, that is a losing error, so black would play "h6" after that white can trap black in h7 and try to mate him after a few moves by "Kf7 or 8" and "Rg7", but it just can't, black will always take the queen out and protect the mate! Let's get back... Rxf8+ Kxf8 Rf1+ Black King has to move Kg8 after that the only winning move for white is h6 In conclusion you had a good idea, you just executed it wrong, but basically yes - you proved Igor was wrong with his solution. Have a nice year everybody!
1.R:f8+ K:f8 2.Rf1+ Кg8 3.h6! Then if ...3...gh then 4.Кe7 b2 5. Rg1+ Kh8 6.Кf7 and mate on g8 next move. If 3...g6 then 4.Ke7 and mate on f8 next move.
11:01. Rxf8. King recaptures Kxc1 white plays Ke6. Black moves anything suppose pawn at g6 to g7 white plays rook to Rxc7 black promotes to queen then Rook to Rc8 smothered checkmate. I hope I explained it clearly since I am a novice .😅
Puzzle: 1. h6! If gxh6 then Ke7 and Black is helpless against Re1#. If g6 or g5 by Black then Ke7 again and Rf8 will be mate. If any other move, then Ke7 and Rf8# is unstoppable.
That thumbnail is hilarious!😂 I wouldn't want mr. smirnov to be advertised as a clown like some wild chess players...eg Gothamchess, but it's pretty wholesome and old-fashioned in a sense of some way.
Ive played 600 games in the past 45 days. done so many puzzles....960 elo....watched vids.. reviewed all my games, committed to learning. Ive went from a 750 down to a 250 back up to a 450 and now am getting kicked in the arse again and am down to a 330. WTF. How do you become consistent? And regardless of how principled I play sticking to setting up in the middle, Ive been getting destroyed in the mid game. Im so Frustrated and dont want to quit chess but im about to. Edit: I just switched from 30 min game back to 10 min game and won 6/7 games. That was the problem. I would get so frustrated waiting for players for 2 to 3 min at minimum...
That is a nice position, one side of the board is simplified, both side want to castle king side, perhaps white might not as it has the initiative still.
Solution: h6 If: gxh6, then ke7, no matter what black moves, rg1 follow-up will be mate. If: g6, then ke7 just the same, no matter what black moves, rf8 follow-up will be mate. If: black makes any other move, then ke7 just the same, and no matter what black does, either rf8 or rg1 will be mate.
No spoilers - I got the first move of the puzzle - but it is tricky to prove the mate pattern plus find the best counter-move if black sacrifices material in order to stop the two passed pawns.

excellent! By the way in the funny puzzle you push your pawn forward to h6 and whatever the opponent do next, you advance your king and then you will have mate in 1 with your rook
I don't see it: h6, Rxg8; Rf1, Kg6 escapes, and one of the pawns Queens. How about Rxf8+, Kxf8 (forced); Rf1+, Kg8; Ke7, but then h6 leaves the K an escape square.?
3:26 I would like to mention that instead of moving the knight , they can givee a check by queen and after that play that knight fork.. in that case white will be devastated
