Was I on the right?.. or left? Anyways, it doesn't matter. We were sitting on there, watching the pigeons, and I.. uh.. I said to Orville: "Friend, those birds are frozen!" He... kinda looked at me like I'd lost my mind. But I reminded him that it was winter, y'know? And often birds will sit in a tree until they'd freeze... Then they'd, they'd, you know, sort of fall to the ground until the sun warms up, an- and they can, y'know, move around again. So I said to Orville "You'd might as well save those breadcrumbs until the birds thaw, because they can't very well enjoy them in the condition they're in." To which he asked what I meant, and asking what condition the crumbs should be in before he threw them to the birds, assuming that I had meant the birds couldn't enjoy the breadcrumbs in the condition that the crumbs were in, when in fact I had meant the birds couldn't enjoy them in the condition that the birds were in, considering the birds were frozen, y'know? So he took a moment and then threw his last handful onto the ground. I said to him "Orville, why did you throw the breadcrumbs to the birds when I just told you they're frozen?" To which he responded "The breadcrumbs are not frozen," again misunderstanding my words. I didn't mean to say that the breadcrumbs were frozen when I told you they're frozen. I've been referring to the birds. You know, in hindsight, what I - what I should've said was - and this would make perfect sense: "Why did you throw the breadcrumbs to the birds when the birds are frozen?" He misunderstood upon my correction, stating that he didn't know what else to do with the breadcrumbs, and that perhaps, y'know, when the birds thawed they'd still be able to eat the crumbs. I agree. The Oculus ecosystem is the worst there is (privacy and datawise) and shouln't be bought by anyone as long as you need a Facebook account to play. Second: There are not much VR Games.. exclusivity limits the whole market to grow.
Everything oculus does for vr is so stained with the stench of corporate greed that I can't think of anything else while in their sponsored games. I'll pass for now.
I literally jus saw Ready Player One like yesterday, ironic that the first video I see when i hop on UA-cam is yours. Def is a fire ass movie btw, n I really can’t wait to see how VR evolves in the future. Life is gone be different different.
I've always imagined a magnet suit that could apply force like resistance so you can pull back a bow. Also it applys local forces like taking a punch when u get hit with bullets.
Finally someone started working on exoskeleton for VR, I had this idea for mor than 8 years. Imagine you are lvl 1 in some game and you can’t lift or move or open something and on lvl 100 you can do it with your finger, and you feel ti physically thanks to exoskeleton.
Half of the problem with half baked VR games is 2020. Studios rely heavily on the studio environment to get things done and collaborate effectively. With the restrictions in place because of COVID half of 2020 was spent trying to figure out how to work remotely. So I think the future DLC is a way to give the studios some room to get organized and back on track.
While yes, anything is possbile, I highly doubt they don't have physical hardware limiters to limit how far the motors can move. There is also likely someone standing by with an emergency stop button.
As long as there are hard limits present, one can be trained to not stress their muscles too much and that would make them safer when using such machine. There will be other consequences regarding to that, though, because they are essentially borrowing too much effort from the machine, making their actual mobility weaker.

i am actually afraid to try the holotron... i know that i want 100% immersion but this is way to real! you can GO UPSIDEDOWN!! imagine all the vr experiences with this tech! but in all seriousness.. the holotron is super cool! it can simulate the feeling of flying, swimming, driving, sitting, jumping and everything! and they will make smell and TASTE!!! how the hell are they going to do that, if i am going to buy this in the future there have to be setting to turn off certain features like ''going upside down'' imagine playing a flying game! and the holotron will give you 1/20th of earths gravity so that means it can simulate swimming and low gravity
Haptics can only go so far. Brain to Computer VR setup will be much better in orders of magnitude since you can just trick your brain rather than tricking you physically. It will exactly feel like The Matrix. I’m betting on Neuralink and Valve for this.

Yep. I think that type of rig for full body immersion is the future of VR. It's clunky and unimaginable right now, but it'll continue to get streamlined.

As much as I want the holotron for VR, i imagine the first place it will be used is for 1 to 1 control of tethered humanoid robots. Imagine Miners climbing into VR rigs that control humanoid robots down in the mines. Or In Radioactive Disasters only having to dispose of irradiated machines instead of care for irradiated emergency workers. NASA and other organizations have been experimenting with full body controllers and VR to facilitate wired and tele operated robots but they have never come up with a way for that robot to take advantage of a Human Beings sense of balance in real time, but with force feed back and a good robot you'd essentially be controlling the robot the same way they do in Pacific Rim. Actually thats what the Holotron reminds me of.
6:04 as an upcoming tech security analyst; given the requirement for network connectivity at some point, the most prominent red flag would be the ability for a malicious actor to gain remote access to the local device and manipulate the system out with the users control - may sound far fetched but if this does make commercial use, this would be a potential vulnerability during live testing

Its crazy . About 4 years ago I had the idea for "Virtual Market", I even discussed it with many friends. Unfortunately for me I had no idea on how to bring the concept to life or where to start. However I'm just glad its here now and happy we have so many great minds out there. I Wish I had better avenues on how to get my ideas out. Things like this have been happening a lot for me since I left High School, just watching as others fulfill the ideas in my head. I'm 27 now with plenty of brain but absolutely no resources.
I was wondering why there was only one world for Virtual Market 5. Apparently there is only the one VKet5 world which is Quest compatible, which is really annoying. I mean I guess I could play on PC, but it wouldn't be the same. Also before anyone mentions is, my PC isn't powerful enough to try PCVR. I tried to use a USB-C charging cable just to see how bad it was, and the Oculus app wouldn't even let me try to use it. Hopefully I should have shadow soon so I can try it through Virtual Desktop/ALVR.

He... kinda looked at me like I'd lost my mind. But I reminded him that it was winter, y'know? And often birds will sit in a tree until they'd freeze... Then they'd, they'd, you know, sort of fall to the ground until the sun warms up, an- and they can, y'know, move around again.
So I said to Orville "You'd might as well save those breadcrumbs until the birds thaw, because they can't very well enjoy them in the condition they're in."
To which he asked what I meant, and asking what condition the crumbs should be in before he threw them to the birds, assuming that I had meant the birds couldn't enjoy the breadcrumbs in the condition that the crumbs were in, when in fact I had meant the birds couldn't enjoy them in the condition that the birds were in, considering the birds were frozen, y'know?
So he took a moment and then threw his last handful onto the ground. I said to him "Orville, why did you throw the breadcrumbs to the birds when I just told you they're frozen?"
To which he responded "The breadcrumbs are not frozen," again misunderstanding my words. I didn't mean to say that the breadcrumbs were frozen when I told you they're frozen. I've been referring to the birds.
You know, in hindsight, what I - what I should've said was - and this would make perfect sense: "Why did you throw the breadcrumbs to the birds when the birds are frozen?"
He misunderstood upon my correction, stating that he didn't know what else to do with the breadcrumbs, and that perhaps, y'know, when the birds thawed they'd still be able to eat the crumbs.
So I...I..I said to Orville - I said - This is what I said to him - I said:
"Orville, the birds may be dead."
My friend, you have met a terrible, terrible demise. But, I, uh, y'know, I - I - I don't feel too bad about it. After all, if it weren't for me it would've just been from someone else, y'know? I guess what I'm trying to say is life - life goes on. Well... Well for everyone else life goes on. Not - not for you.. uh.. You're dead. That's neither here nor there.

Now, if I recall correctly there was a bakery nearby. I said to him, "Orville, let me go get you some rye bread." Now, I-I'm unsure if elephants enjoy rye bread, but I assure you that Orville does.
Now this was on a Tuesday, which was good because rye bread was always fresh on Tuesday. They made sourdough bread on Monday, and threw it out Wednesday... or rather they sold it at a discount for people wanting to feed the ducks, and probably at the end of the day finally they threw it all out - I don't recall.
I do remember a man who would bring his son to the bakery every Wednesday and go feed the ducks. He would buy all of the sourdough bread. Of course, y'know, you're not supposed to feed the ducks sourdough bread at all. It swells up in their stomach and then they all die. At, uh.. at least... at least that's what I've heard. Y'know I-I never saw any ducks die myself, but I did notice a substantial decrease in the duck population over the course of a few years. I just never thought to stop the man and tell him that he was killing the ducks by feeding them sourdough bread! And if you want my opinion on the matter, heh - and I told Orville this as well - "If you wanna feed ducks, or birds, or any kind for that matter, it's best to buy seed."
I mean, when you think about it, breads of any sort don't occur in nature. They don't grow on trees, or spring up from the bushes. I don't think birds know what to do with bread. What was I saying?

The Jurassic Park game launching half finished isn't the worst thing- the Oculus exclusive is.
I agree. The Oculus ecosystem is the worst there is (privacy and datawise) and shouln't be bought by anyone as long as you need a Facebook account to play.
Second: There are not much VR Games.. exclusivity limits the whole market to grow.

I've always imagined a magnet suit that could apply force like resistance so you can pull back a bow. Also it applys local forces like taking a punch when u get hit with bullets.
Finally someone started working on exoskeleton for VR, I had this idea for mor than 8 years. Imagine you are lvl 1 in some game and you can’t lift or move or open something and on lvl 100 you can do it with your finger, and you feel ti physically thanks to exoskeleton.

Half of the problem with half baked VR games is 2020. Studios rely heavily on the studio environment to get things done and collaborate effectively. With the restrictions in place because of COVID half of 2020 was spent trying to figure out how to work remotely. So I think the future DLC is a way to give the studios some room to get organized and back on track.
That VR immersion rig looks extremely dangerous. One unexpected bug in the code and that guy could be very hurt.

While yes, anything is possbile, I highly doubt they don't have physical hardware limiters to limit how far the motors can move. There is also likely someone standing by with an emergency stop button.
As long as there are hard limits present, one can be trained to not stress their muscles too much and that would make them safer when using such machine. There will be other consequences regarding to that, though, because they are essentially borrowing too much effort from the machine, making their actual mobility weaker.
Reminds me of the Therac machine, the first well-known example of software bugs directly killing people

Yesterday I bought Oculus quest 2! My first VR headset!

you can GO UPSIDEDOWN!! imagine all the vr experiences with this tech! but in all seriousness.. the holotron is super cool! it can simulate the feeling of flying, swimming, driving, sitting, jumping and everything! and they will make smell and TASTE!!! how the hell are they going to do that, if i am going to buy this in the future there have to be setting to turn off certain features like ''going upside down'' imagine playing a flying game! and the holotron will give you 1/20th of earths gravity so that means it can simulate swimming and low gravity

Haptics can only go so far. Brain to Computer VR setup will be much better in orders of magnitude since you can just trick your brain rather than tricking you physically. It will exactly feel like The Matrix. I’m betting on Neuralink and Valve for this.

Yep. I think that type of rig for full body immersion is the future of VR. It's clunky and unimaginable right now, but it'll continue to get streamlined.

As much as I want the holotron for VR, i imagine the first place it will be used is for 1 to 1 control of tethered humanoid robots. Imagine Miners climbing into VR rigs that control humanoid robots down in the mines. Or In Radioactive Disasters only having to dispose of irradiated machines instead of care for irradiated emergency workers.
NASA and other organizations have been experimenting with full body controllers and VR to facilitate wired and tele operated robots but they have never come up with a way for that robot to take advantage of a Human Beings sense of balance in real time, but with force feed back and a good robot you'd essentially be controlling the robot the same way they do in Pacific Rim. Actually thats what the Holotron reminds me of.

Its crazy . About 4 years ago I had the idea for "Virtual Market", I even discussed it with many friends. Unfortunately for me I had no idea on how to bring the concept to life or where to start. However I'm just glad its here now and happy we have so many great minds out there. I Wish I had better avenues on how to get my ideas out. Things like this have been happening a lot for me since I left High School, just watching as others fulfill the ideas in my head. I'm 27 now with plenty of brain but absolutely no resources.
I FINALLY GOT MY QUEST 2 AND IM SO HYPED!!! THIS THING IS INCREDIBLE!
I highly recommend you connect it to a pc! I have a rift s and such a vast amount of vr entertainment from steam :)

I was wondering why there was only one world for Virtual Market 5. Apparently there is only the one VKet5 world which is Quest compatible, which is really annoying. I mean I guess I could play on PC, but it wouldn't be the same. Also before anyone mentions is, my PC isn't powerful enough to try PCVR. I tried to use a USB-C charging cable just to see how bad it was, and the Oculus app wouldn't even let me try to use it. Hopefully I should have shadow soon so I can try it through Virtual Desktop/ALVR.
