Well he actually over-engineered it. Remember the 360 swing? That makes this less sketchy compared to the "normal" stuffs he's doing. But definitely just as fun and crazy
personally i would switch faith with confidence. faith means there would almost imply luck is involved. with something like this you cant depend on luck. confidence however is even if even if you know something is 100% safe, it can still be scary like with (heights or fast speeds for instance, which he often does) while knowing factually you did everything right. you triple checked everything. besides, he always has his safety tie ;)
One of the hardest obstacles to get over when learning parkour is fear I think something like this could potentially be used as a learning tool to help assist newbies to get over that fear so they can take the steps to learn how a move works more safely before they do the real thing It's a thing that could help assist those that need that extra step to move on so they don't just pack their bags and give up on a certain move It's like doing knee pushups before moving on to real pushups kind of

Everyday I wonder how he hasn't gotten into a bad accident... from his lack of safety stuff in certain videos.. but who am I to judge, he's still there and kickin! And hopefully as long as he can :D
I recall there was a handle to lock it in place with push of a button. Pretty easy to make it wireless and have two buttons, one for user and second for the safety person outside. Only danger is slipping from the harness but there is better harness for that and momentum slamming you into obstacle, but braking system solves most of that. Only possible danger that comes to mind if welds tress failing, but given Colins welding skills i doubt that is a issue.
2:21 “i can jump from a super high height, and NOT break my legs!!” i understand flexing that, but why aren’t we flexing that you now have the ability to jump onto the roof???
Honestly, I'm surprised this doesn't already exist for making movies! Hollywood already has similar things but, THIS would definitely ramp things up! Would be super easy to cover it in green screen material too!
@@Secret_Squirrel_Scottishgamer that's the least of the issues, changing the weight it's calibrated to is almost as simple as just changing the counterweights at the back.
Things i'd love to see done with this: Low power jetpack Collab with a parkour expert + VFX people to make an epic action scene Full Wipeout Parkour course
I can definitely see the use of this contraption in some space training centers. And also, let's see... film making, amusement parks, circuses, rehabilitation centers, pilots training and something in that vein. Interesting thing you built there, I applause!
The motions of a real human in this are so much more physically realistic than anything MCU cg animators have come up with. This needs to be used to create reference footage.
I'm fairly sure I've seen rigs like this (except more complex) used in behind the scenes footage of various movies that involve flying or low gravity shenanigans.
I can see a Storror/Furza collab happening. Imagine putting that thing in the hands of real parkourists and seeing what they can do. Great crossover I reckon. Both huge YT sub numbers, so no loss either way.
The fact that you made sure to learn and execute a bullet jump is amazing. As a long time warframe player, I've always wanted to see someone figure out a way to bullet jump IRL, and this was just perfect. Hats off Colin, my favorite thing you've built yet for sure! Oh and I would 100000% ride it!! 😁😁😁
there are quite a lot of ways things can go wrong with it, and I don't mean breaking, more to do with inertia, and if you start to think about making it idiot proof, things start to get quite complicated, and that isn't what you want, because the more complicated it gets, the higher the chance things can go wrong
Also it needs a fair bit of room and it would be harder to make it for multiple people For just one person fun ride the amount of space it needs can be tough in some places
Bung on a space suit, create a lunar lanscape and we can all experience walking on the moon. Or bung on a VR headset showing the moon in conjuction with this and that would be the perfect walking on the moon experience!
This reminds me the clip from the ASDF movies where the character says: "Screw gravity!" and lifts off - Colin Furze is an engineer who can make fantasy a reality! I think it's my favourite contraption by this icon. Absolutely brilliant!
I'm *that* guy who points out that Colin Furze is /actually/ a plumber. He just fakes being an engineer better than most real engineers can do plumbing.
I think to make your seat more advanced you should look into mimicking a camera gimbal and design the seat to be like one of those. Important things are balancing and maybe motorising it. Once you have that the possibilities are endless. You could hire this machine out to film companies to use for movies!
I’m surprised that this does not exist commercially. It’s very much an attraction along the lines of things like indoor skydiving that I could imagine appearing at fairs and entertainment centers
Was thinking of this in the first video moment i saw it, well as wondered such device, but Colins solution is just superb. Too bad its pretty damn expensive to make and even more problematic to transport, since you need JBL to assemble it, witch needs least a truck to move it, making it pretty expensive to operate on places that chance from one to another.
man id love to see a whole circular platforming level made around it like a super mario level where you have to hit certain buttons to open up paths to the next section. Building it around a half dome would be a blast. that would probably be a good fairground or escape room type attraction.
Your bullet jump arm extension needs a counterweight to offset the weight of the arm itself. Just take it off. Weigh it and the lenght it extends to, calculate the force with the lenght of the lever it puts out, then add a big knob with the same force (bigger weight shorter lever) on the other side of that arm bit, and you should have a much easier time balancing and don't land flat on your belly. A cool way to be able to control yourself better would be if you have 4 gyroscopes added to your under arms and legs, maybe like motorized sleeves you can turn on and off. That could give you insane control like how am ice skater controls the rpm of a spin, but in 3 dimensions based on your limbs in relation to 3D space and how you position and bend your arms and legs.
This is just so much Fun........Would you ride it?

pls don't i don't want him to die - most of the stuff he does is relatively safe :P
next step: put it on tank tracks for a world of tanks sponsorship, with a electric wheelchair joystick next to the gravity controls, so you can move around in every axis
Colin’s inner child is probably the happiest inner child in the history of earth
Inner? More like outer
Just immagine being Colin's children's at school and say:
"My dad has a secret tunnel and she'd under the house, I've the most gigantic swing in my backyard and now my dad can walk on walls"
🤣🤣🤣
I think he suffered some sorts of depression in the past...
Imagine being able to start small but you always go beyond until you're able to make something like this. It's every hobbyist's dream. Thankyou for becoming an inspiration and a role model ColinFurze, definitely worth a subscribe
Dude has complete faith in his engineering skills
Well he actually over-engineered it. Remember the 360 swing?
That makes this less sketchy compared to the "normal" stuffs he's doing.
But definitely just as fun and crazy
Or.. Have you seen The Prestige?
Colin has more years engineering than most people have faithing.
personally i would switch faith with confidence.
faith means there would almost imply luck is involved.
with something like this you cant depend on luck.
confidence however is even if even if you know something is 100% safe, it can still be scary like with (heights or fast speeds for instance, which he often does) while knowing factually you did everything right. you triple checked everything.
besides, he always has his safety tie ;)
If he had complete faith in his engineering skills, he probably wouldn't have so many limbs.
One of the hardest obstacles to get over when learning parkour is fear
I think something like this could potentially be used as a learning tool to help assist newbies to get
over that fear so they can take the steps to learn how a move works more safely before they do the
real thing
It's a thing that could help assist those that need that extra step to move on so they don't just pack
their bags and give up on a certain move
It's like doing knee pushups before moving on to real pushups kind of
This is absolutely one of the coolest machines I have seen built , if Hollywood doesn't have a similar machine they need one . I can't imagine all the cool action shots they could get with this
I'm pretty sure these rigs do exist in some form in the film industry. This one is definitely miles ahead in terms of fun factor undoubtedly
The fact that you power through any challenge and persevere to make and share something extraordinary is incredible and inspiring. Cheers to you Colin. Truly.
This honestly looks like one of the safest things he's ever made
That's probably why the other guys were allowed to try it lol :D
@@matthesinator not only guys but his own children as well.
Yeah, bit of a disappointment really 🤣🤣
honestly, he has made nothing that is truely safe, if he did he wouldnt post it... ;)
Everything is safer than that ring of knives
This would also be perfect for a TitanFall3 ad when respawn decides to make it
This man has a LOT of faith in his welding ability. And rightfully so from what i've seen
Everyday I wonder how he hasn't gotten into a bad accident... from his lack of safety stuff in certain videos.. but who am I to judge, he's still there and kickin! And hopefully as long as he can :D
@@micholous Pretty sure there is a lot of stress testing & engineer consulting that happens off camera.
Two things I absolutely love about this, the tie during the whole thing and so much trust in his math, not a single safety device was used.
Safety tie!
Wrong... safety tie was on
The whole thing is a safety device? Also safety tie?
Yes you can buy it as merch
I recall there was a handle to lock it in place with push of a button. Pretty easy to make it wireless and have two buttons, one for user and second for the safety person outside. Only danger is slipping from the harness but there is better harness for that and momentum slamming you into obstacle, but braking system solves most of that. Only possible danger that comes to mind if welds tress failing, but given Colins welding skills i doubt that is a issue.
This is how we lose Colin, standing on a random roof, forgetting he can't jump from it without the frame and him falling to his death
Grian moment
Will he have enough shields or Void energy to avoid taking the fall damage?
2:21 “i can jump from a super high height, and NOT break my legs!!” i understand flexing that, but why aren’t we flexing that you now have the ability to jump onto the roof???
Such a cool project! I really need to start building random amazing projects instead of teaching technical engineering it looks so much more fun.
Well, why not both? You could use your potentially crazy future projects as way to teach technical engineering.
Get started buddy, I'm already subscribed to you, so I can't wait to see what you do!!!!
Add a spring on the other side too!!!
You are helping me get through my electrical apprenticeship though!
You could always tie a lesson into the project. A lot of my favorite videos do that.
Honestly, I'm surprised this doesn't already exist for making movies! Hollywood already has similar things but, THIS would definitely ramp things up! Would be super easy to cover it in green screen material too!
Oh it already does, in a variety of ways!
It exist. Stunt rigger that itself is profession.
NASA would be interested in this
More movement for the actornauts.
@@Gavin-qh7li It's okay Gavin we know you have erectile dysfunction

This + VR would be another 10 levels of insane
@MetaQuestVR get to work. Colin's built the hardware that you need!
6:53
“Rought! We’ve got this! We’ve got this extra barring like this lil…
✨wigglie roundy thang✨”
This man absolutely trusts his creations. I would be terrified of a bolt or strap coming loose.
Rent that to a movie crew, I'm sure they will love using that.
Camera cranes already work like this. And the amount of work painting this out compared to wires is insane.
Cant its calibrated to only his size and weight.
@@Secret_Squirrel_Scottishgamer that's the least of the issues, changing the weight it's calibrated to is almost as simple as just changing the counterweights at the back.
Could make some good money doing that but I'm wouldn't be surprised if the already have something like this
@@-canopus-513 you wouldn’t need to mess with the counterweight. There is a hydraulic cylinder, to lengthen the arm, altering the CG.
This is TOTALLY becoming a carnival attraction
For sure mate
i sure hope haha it looks so fun. like a 0g plane ride without the insane expenses
This was my exact comment on his short video
thats exactly what i was thinking
Gonna need a severe weight limit, Colin is a lean guy!
Things i'd love to see done with this:
Low power jetpack
Collab with a parkour expert + VFX people to make an epic action scene
Full Wipeout Parkour course
Honestly, this thing you've made has so many practical purposes its wild.
Roof workers or building window cleaners.. Just to name a couple !
Like an elevated work platform but without wheels?
I can definitely see the use of this contraption in some space training centers. And also, let's see... film making, amusement parks, circuses, rehabilitation centers, pilots training and something in that vein. Interesting thing you built there, I applause!
The motions of a real human in this are so much more physically realistic than anything MCU cg animators have come up with. This needs to be used to create reference footage.
If the rig can be slimmed and the arm hidden with green screen it could just be practical effects
@@gamersgambit7517 get corridor crew to roto it out by hand, they love doing that kind of work.
I'm fairly sure I've seen rigs like this (except more complex) used in behind the scenes footage of various movies that involve flying or low gravity shenanigans.
@@JinKee incredible how confident you are speaking while seemingly knowing nothing
Machines like this already exist. Marvel is just lazy plus they underpay and rush/overwork their animators
This is the future of gaming scene. Would be amaze this things if used by big companies in 5 or 10 years later.
I'd absolutely love seeing a furze park in a few years, with all the creations
Hear, hear!
I can see a Storror/Furza collab happening. Imagine putting that thing in the hands of real parkourists and seeing what they can do.
Great crossover I reckon.
Both huge YT sub numbers, so no loss either way.
That would be amazing.
@@meziked thanks! It's my gamertag as well lol
Now this is the UA-cam videos I’ve missed for years😢 GENUINE UNIQUE ACTION!!! BREAKING THE LIMITS OF CREATIVITY
colinfurze is the definition of, “everyone will grow old, but you don’t have to grow up” 🤣
Out of all the Makers & Creators I watch, you probably have the most fun with your builds. Brilliant as always Mr.Furze.
Pretty sure this is gonna get developed into an amusement ride at some point.
i think so too
there are quite a lot of ways things can go wrong with it, and I don't mean breaking, more to do with inertia, and if you start to think about making it idiot proof, things start to get quite complicated, and that isn't what you want, because the more complicated it gets, the higher the chance things can go wrong
@@dghtr79_36like a bungee cord? Or 100 other rides that fail? They all inherit risk
Maybe some Filmstudio would like to borror it for some Stunds
Also it needs a fair bit of room and it would be harder to make it for multiple people
For just one person fun ride the amount of space it needs can be tough in some places
Bung on a space suit, create a lunar lanscape and we can all experience walking on the moon. Or bung on a VR headset showing the moon in conjuction with this and that would be the perfect walking on the moon experience!
The moment of inertia on that thing must be crazy. Impressive that he can get it to move so well
This reminds me the clip from the ASDF movies where the character says: "Screw gravity!" and lifts off - Colin Furze is an engineer who can make fantasy a reality!
Yeah, you can then control it remotely with another rig with rotary encoders that the cameraman operates.
I’m not too familiar with the cinematic world, aren’t the workers that build these camera setups called grips?
Imagine mowing your lawn outside and seeing your neighbor being attached to a giant contraption in the air.
You should definitely invite a gymnast/stuntman to have a play on this!
I’m surprised that this does not exist commercially. It’s very much an attraction along the lines of things like indoor skydiving that I could imagine appearing at fairs and entertainment centers
I was just thinking the same thing
Was thinking of this in the first video moment i saw it, well as wondered such device, but Colins solution is just superb. Too bad its pretty damn expensive to make and even more problematic to transport, since you need JBL to assemble it, witch needs least a truck to move it, making it pretty expensive to operate on places that chance from one to another.
I truly think that people would pay to use this as a ride or something, can’t wait to see it
I’ve never wanted an invention like this so much in my life.
The feeling of jumping 20+ feet in the air has got to be one of the coolest things in the world.
What’s incredible is that you designed and built this by yourself! I guess all that plumbing work paid off finally.
Being completely safe whilst looking completely unsafe seems to be Collins signature move.
this is kind of tame compared to some of his other stuff, like riding a jet powered bike without any sort of protective gear ;)
Yeah uhhhh, go watch the knife belt video and get back to us on that...
This is the best invention I’ve ever seen in my life, SELL THIS NOW!!!
really love that this is a project to replicate the feel of a game rather than just the aesthetics, missing all the functionality. Great Job Colin!!!
One of my favorite builds! I would ride it in a heartbeat!
man id love to see a whole circular platforming level made around it like a super mario level where you have to hit certain buttons to open up paths to the next section.
Thanks
