I never played Bulletstorm till a couple of years ago. Tbh, while game had a lot of positives, like voice acting, it really feels like the game of that era. The gameplay is kinda your standard "call of duty shooting range", but with superpowers. Super scripted and linear. But I would be lying, if I said I didn't enjoy the game.
When people say they want to see open world doom i say "no you don't. Go play rage 2 and then come back and tell me you still want open world doom" Open world or the structured open world of gears 5 and halo infinite imo were a huge set back to the games

Having Kev as my Fallout 4 companion for over a year now makes me think that in those spare moments between me dragging him around to kill Swan, and other random people, he finds time to record.
This game was great for “turn off your brain” fun lol. Especially late game when your car is completely upgraded and you’re basically driving around a really fast artillery truck. Don’t really get why people hated it so much.
You named the reason people hated it. Not everyone gets value from sandbox gaming, so the grind and the half baked story will dissatisfy most players. Rage 2 is a game you play for a bit and then uninstall it, thats why there are so many negative reviews, because there is nothing outstandingly positive about it, so those who had fun wrote no reviews.
I mean compared to the first game this was a huge letdown. It was the beginning of the fps meme where colors and UI cover your screen with so much text and explosions you dont know whats what anymore. First game was subtle and pretty much mad max the fps not rage 2 mad max fell into hell with a bag full of cocaine.

You can tell the devs barely even cared about the story of this one. The original Rage felt totally different and had more interesting stuff going on storywise.

@@kiillabytez well considering what time period it came out in, compared to other at that time. It’s not bad. One of the trophies was for the racing tracks and such and I felt they were a breeze. Ofc I don’t play many games w driving in it, if it’s not the main focus of the game. But I didn’t quite consider it annoying mechanic wise, now how much driving you HAVE to do can almost compete w gta5🤣 that is abysmal. There prob are a few rage moments that are coming back to me while typing, abt the driving and racing, but not serious enough for me to recall this moment, nothing a bit of getting used to didn’t help solve
The problem with rage 2 is the open world is entirely unnecessary. We should have just gotten a campaign with levels. The combat sections I feel are too short. Also, the Authority is just the Stroge in this game.
The problem with Rage 2 is its not particularly great. The open world is the least of its problems, the gunplay is the best thing about it. Everything else is pretty generic, the "story" is about as bad as the first game, its a joke how short it is and, there is really no reason it couldn't have been coop.

The sidewinder is one of my favorite basic pistols in any game. It's nice and powerful in single fire, and once you upgrade it, you can obliterate damn near any midlevel enemy by mag dumping into them using burst fire.
Rage 1 had a thing about the enemy's HP pool being about 1000% bigger anywhere on the body but they could barely take a bullet to the head. Glad to see THAT hasn't changed.
I remember having so much fun with this game. It was like DOOM meets Just Cause, tons of fun and weapons/vehicles and satisfying combat. It looked really pretty too. I don’t remember being wowed by the end of the storyline, but I definitely didn’t find much to complain about

In hard difficulty you pretty much have to be overdriving as much as possible and also chugging your infusions to keep using your powers, overdrive and staying healthy. Also unlock the weapons and powers as early as you can, some of the stuff is absolutely broken

The version Jesse was playing is a lightgun on rails build for arcades with ironically never ended up in any arcades I know of.

This game is DOOM meets Mad Max meets Far Cry meets Call of Duty and Borderlands.
Just like the first game this one also suffers from having no story to speak of but in terms of gameplay and just game feel it is a blast to play.
