Now that you’ve listened to the studio version PLEASE make sure you listen to the live one. He puts EVERYTHING into that performance and it brings the song to a whole new level of energy and soul crushing beauty. I use the live version as my gym pump up song and it never fails
This is probably my top three favorite songs from Sleep Token. Obsessed is an understatement, as I listen to this song at least twice a day. Heard them play this live a few weeks ago too. Loved this video and you now have another subscriber!
I also don’t like harsh vocals and I don’t always like the true metal beats, but Sleep Token always takes you on a journey with every song. They will go to the dark places, but then they will take you back to the light. The harsh vocals and driving metal feels earned and it feels like it serves a narrative purpose even if it’s not my favorite. I absolutely adore the chorus to this song and as a result I appreciate the screams that much more. Vessel is just a genius.
I didn't like harsh vocals, but The Summoning was me dipping my toe in the water. Then I fell in love with Vore. Next thing I know was obsessively listening to Dethrone by Bad Omens. While I'm not fully there, aka Lorna Shore, their front man Will Ramos has me listening to a few of their songs. It's been a progression. Now I love a good blegh.
@ouig-emirii I don't think Vessel wrote the song to literally be about the concept of Vore though. I think it's more metaphorical, about his relationship to Sleep.
4:00 yep. It’s a trained ear thing. I’m at the same point understanding hip-hop lyrics as they play. Sometimes I catch them, but certain styles are still a struggle for me for now. Same thing applies to understanding scream lyrics for newbies to the genre. Just keep at it, and you’ll get there. :-)
When I saw them last year and they played this during the line "I want to have you to myself" it was such a strange but wonderful moment where it felt like everyone was just reaching for vessel at the same time.
I don't know about that. I have a pretty dope headset and Vore is the only track that the vocals are harder to differentiate. I have the same issue with every setup, car, home audio, etc. It sounds to me like the levels were off compared to other songs, but I assume there is some reason they did it that way.
3:55 always comes up with people who don't generally listen to this type of music. No, most of the time, without lyrics, I have no idea what they're saying, but you don't need to. Like listening to songs growing up and years later you learn that you misheard a lyric. They weren't screaming in those songs and you still couldn't hear them, so what's different here? I'm also a drummer, and have a habit of really only listening/caring about the drum parts in songs sometimes, so it may be something that I don't have a hard time with because I'm not trying to understand the lyrics.
When it comes to screamed/ unclean vocals, sometimes when it comes to listening, especially for the first time, it doesn't really matter what the lyrics are. Sometimes it's more of hearing the passion, pain or emotion in screams at times when it's in a song like this
The part you mentioned video games. First thing I heard when this song came out is that section sounding like a resident evil save room and i've never seen anybody mention it. Weird nostalgia but comfy. Not my genre but this song is great.
Yeah, it’s called a fry scream, mostly what he’s doing on this one. I guess one thing it does that I like is make it, when he does sing, whether in the chorus or bridge, it makes it stand out, especially in that really pretty bridge part. There are a lot of dynamics. I like screaming, but this song had to grow on me.
Always a joy seeing your reactions. One channel said Sleep Token is only 34% metal based on some basic metal criteria like harsh vocals. I think Vore alone makes up for at least 20% of that total by itself 😆
@@GoatGodBaal oh shoot that's right! So...Gods is like 20%, Vore is 10%, and then all the other songs 4%, assuming we go by harsh vocals alone lol. Of course, there were other factors like blast beats and guitar chugging so the math actually got a little complex, hehe.
@@myleneguillaume5807 not that I'm complaining in the least but now I gotta go back and listen to Gods again because I coulda sworn it was all harsh vocals 😆
Personally, I love the mix between clean and distorted vocals. I’m also not usually big on songs that are pure screams, but it depends. Sleep Token hits the pocket just right for me. It’s one of those things that you learn to appreciate the more you’re exposed.
I’ve read that they intentionally mixed this song to make it sound like Vessel’s vocals are progressively getting more and more drowned out in the mix to give the perception that he is being devoured
If you're wanting a good pair of flat-sounding headphones like for studio use you could get the Status Audio CB-1's, or the AKG240's. Both are about the same price depending on where you're at region wise. Gaming headset's aren't that good with clarity and separation like studio monitoring headphones can. That's why I game with basic speakers, and when I'm writing music at home I use my monitoring headset. But feel free to explore what works for your setup too. Good luck!
It depends on the vocalist as some are a lot clearer than others when doing harsh vocals but yes a lot of time you can hear what they're saying once your ear is atuned to it.
ARE YOU IN PAIN LIKE I AM? I've got a good ear for picking up the lyrics, I've had quite a bit of practice 😂 but I always like to confirm that I've heard the lyrics right. Loved the reaction, glad you liked it! They should be in video games, you are not wrong. 🔥
If you're looking for headphones, try the "beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro". They cost usually around 170-150 usd, you will need an amp from what I've heard. But it will be absolutely worth it if you're reacting to detailed tunes like these ones. Give them a look!
You'll get there with understanding the screams. It's because the music is still "different" for you, so your brain is trying to latch onto the heavy music and vocals at the same time. When heavy music is "normal" to you, you can let that part just wash over you while your brain focuses on the words and you'll hear the pronunciation/enunciation clearly 🤘
I feel like they intentionally "muddied up" or distorted his screams in the verses. I can make out some of it on my own, but lyric videos definitely helped
After this album is done…. Do Sundowning album first, then the second This Place Will Become Your Tomb, IN ORDER WITH THE SONGS. Then you can listen to TMBTE on your own and it will hit you even harder than it did the first time TRUST ME ON THIS… #WORSHIP 🙏🏻😊
You do have to kind of train your ear to understand harsh vocals, I had the same problem when I started to listen to hiphop, I would catch maybe 2 words out of 5. But then again sometimes they just aren't enunciating clearly, or they have to pronounce something in a weird way to fit the melody/tempo and I still have to look up the lyrics real quick. But funny enough I had a harder time with the clean vocals in this one, I kept hearing the first verse as "Will we remain stuck in the *throne* of gods, will the *praying* stop if we go deeper" and I was totally rolling with that for the longest because it still fits thematically, you know? 😅

Its harder listening to sleep tokens harsh vocals since they blend it in with the music so it is alot more harder to listen to what Vettel is saying than other vocalist
Nah dog. I still don’t know the lyrics of the dirty vocals. It’s just the caveman “this is good” feeling during them. Don’t care for the lyrics, just let it crush.

The more I listen to this song the more I fall in love with it. The different levels of sounds in this is incredible
This song really grew on me when the album came out. That chorus is so good.
Two different choruses sort of

And, yes, the chorus of this song massages my brain, especially when Vessel hits that high note.
If you google the word Vore, proceed with caution 😅 it gives the lyrics a whole different meaning
Oh my…
😅 it sure does
Ran to Google 🏃♀️💨💨 😂
Oh my, why did I do that? 🤦🏼♀️ it definitely feels a little more like a filler on the track after googling that word lol
@ouig-emirii I don't think Vessel wrote the song to literally be about the concept of Vore though. I think it's more metaphorical, about his relationship to Sleep.

@@masquerademage it is so good live. It's so visceral. It's off the setlist this tour sadly
I love the 'are you in pain like I am' progressing from a whisper to a scream, i feel shivers down my spine; the song grows on you best believe man 🖤
Yesss!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY, THE WAIT IS OVER !!!!!! 😭😭 You Sir , are in for a suprise with this Sleep Token song.👀😏 Can't wait 👏🏼👏🏼
Yeah that was crazy!!
You are totally missing out, Imminence
Imminence the best!

Just saw them live and all I can say is wow!!!!! They bring it🫶
When this single dropped I was speechless 😮 crazy change up from their usual style, and it parallels with Gods so well 😍
It's a great day to Worship ❤
You should react to the things they do at live performances 😂😂
If you want clean vocals listen to “Rain” by sleep token
Vore and Gods are STs heaviest songs. Everything else is mostly the clean vocals that you (and I) enjoy
Bet! Thank you
@@DonVon Give is one of my favorites and it’s not heavy at all
This one of my favorites on the album. It really gets better the more you listen to it. When he battle cries in the second verse i just melt 😂
Are you in pain like I am? Oooofff this song deserves harsh vocals. Hearing it live with the Espera is life altering.
So excited!!! Been waiting for a reaction video to Vore from so many people!!!
This is definitely one of those songs you need lyrics for, especially at the start, but it's great
I’ve read that they intentionally mixed this song to make it sound like Vessel’s vocals are progressively getting more and more drowned out in the mix to give the perception that he is being devoured

Believe it or not, that's Vessel and IV screaming...
IV's live vocals on this are superior 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Im waiting for you to look up the lyrics and realize what this song is about and who is the one that does the screaming portion 😅
Check out the live edition of the summoning on the drumeo channel 🔥🙌🏼 ii drumming is incredible
Look up the words, its something else❤
Get yourself some open-back Sennheiser studio headphones, you wont want to go back.
