You're so right, but this corrupt government is in bed with the criminals including law enforcement. Look at who's behind the majority of CIT robberies. So they will never implement a state of emergency whatsoever to curb criminality, because it would be of no benefit to them and their very deep pockets! They may only declare a state of emergency when there's major civil unrest, because that will not profit them.

In almost every suburb every night, most nights. We have meetings and patrol shifts at night. While we patrol there are breakins around the block.
It seems like here the community depends on each other. So you just lock your doors at all times. But I still like it here and there are crimes everywhere so, we enjoy ourselves but whilst being vigilant.

Blaming apartheid or inequality or unemployment is showing the pure ignorance of the people, sure these people see people who live nice lives because they work for what they have and they want the material things as well, but the majority of them don’t want to work for those things. They want instant gratification and taking what others worked for provides that. Even if there was enough jobs for every single person in this country, there will always be those who would rather take the risk of enriching themselves through criminal activity than to work for a monthly salary. How can we expect people to accept that committing crimes is wrong when government and the people we are supposed to look up to appear to be the biggest criminals and they get away with it and there’s nothing we can do about it?

There's a group of homeless people in Mount Pleasant who are just sitting there, roaming around. When we installed a new water meter and the municipality didn't finish the job, they managed to use the piping from the water meter as their personal taps. We were alerted by the neighbour who said his dogs were barking when they came around. When we removed the water meter, they no longer hang around near the shops as much but they still roam around the streets. They've made everyone in the area feel uncomfortable in their own home and we've alerted the Ward 1 councilor but what can we do really. This area is near Mount Pleasant SuperSpar but, weirdly, even the taxi drivers are asking if I feel safe since these guys are around the area. Some of them are even going through people's postboxes. I used to feel safe when walking to the Spar in the evening. Because of these dudes, I don't want to Spar anymore. I'd rather go the mall

obviously all the security and police in the world is not going to solve this problem
This Is far more complicated issue and aftermath of apathied for sure
More time needs to be spent in investing in projects for under privileged areas and access to better education is the only way to turn this around
If you give someone something to loose they will consider taking a different path
Better opportunities need to be made available to young people and communal centers that can be positive role models for the Youth
Blessings to S Africa for a Peaceful Future .

In my small town called Willilowvale , I once saw two quantum’s of police full of police patrolling at night, searching every suspicious person, I was very impressed, those police were very armed and I was impressed, if our SANDF can do that , start patrolling and doing those random searches we can have a better country.
Secondly our country does not invest much in our police services/security and corruption is a thing in our police industry.

I don't know about Despatch, but in Gqeberha the AR companies with the NHW is working hard in the areas..The syndicates they are talking about they are very dangerous, carrying firearms.
Not a 100% sure, but i've heard some associates of the panga gang got arrested late last year.
I always tell people to make it as difficult as you can for the criminals like put install alarm systems, close the yard, have some electric fencing, burglar bars/gates and dogs. They're first choice is the easy homes..I know its a lot,but unfortunately crime is what we have to deal with in SA.

Go to Motherwell where a police was shot inside police station, atleast 5 hijacking a week, atleast a person getting shot dead every week. House breaking whilst people are inside. Gqeberha being ranked as number 9th dangerous city in the world, huge contributer is Motherwell.
