I'd like to add something else I just found out. If you wire up something before it is properly bolted down it will show as connected in the universal tool, but won't actually be. It will not communicate over your network. You have to move it, bolt it down, then wire it back up to get the object working again. I beat my head against a wall for a couple of hours before I figured this one out.
Hey, if you want to bolt or wire things difficult to access, disable the eye and activate the lock on asset browser categories' which aren't concerned by your manipulations, this will allow you to bolt only on the body of visible items, deleting the physic of other ones. Good luck !
this is a good basics video. one thing i'd add to it either througha quick edit somewhere, box thrusters arent stackable like the angle ones. each one has to connect to a device hardpoint. currently. i'm hoping this changes otherwise people will just use the angle ones for expanding thruster power easily without having to run a bunch of pipes.
I don't use the ship designer thingy (I kind of add things bit by bit manually, expanding on the tutorial ship) So a lot of the things used in this video, don't apply 100% of the time and I've noticed with at least the starting ship that nothing is 'piped' so to speak, yet it all works, and it continues to work with the big thrusters. But not so much with the maneuvering thrusters. I've added more manually, but they don't do anything. I've even experimented with the original manuevering thrusters that came with the starting ship. (It wasn't piped either) and it stopped working when I popped it back on in the same spot. Would you happen to have an idea as to what's going on there? (I imagine I'll have to pipe it and such, but I figured I'd also ask for a second opinion)
@@Ravaen I figured that out after a bit. I also learned that it sometimes takes awhile for the new manuevering thrusters to learn 'oh we can work now'. But thanks for answering and helping.
watched your video copyed some stuff and my thrusters dont move at all still no clue why its like my flight computer dont wanna work at all and they have cables going to them both and they have power..... Any idea whats going on
I have a symmetrical ship with thrusters placed on the same places on left-right and top-bottom but for some reason whenever i try to roll it chooses different sets of thrusters for roll left and roll right, resulting in rolling to one side being a bit quicker. All thrusters have renamed (less than 50), have been connected and are otherwise working properly .just everytime i test the ship, it decides to use different thrusters and does not utilize all of the thrusters available for the maneuver. I tried renaming them, grouping them together (even grouped it still doesnt use all thrusters placed in the group) and everything else recommended and that i could think of... anyone else had this problem?
Been having the same issue with all the ships I build, so figure it is something I am overlooking. All thrusters are named differently, Center of thrust is almost dead on in most of my builds and is almost perfect (save a few mm) in others and despite having an overabundance of power, I cannot seem to fly straight. I can for a bit, almost immediately after engaging forward thrust, it starts to auto-correct as if I have run out of power, yet it holds stable at about 9450 battery level. Usually, it jerks ship constantly until it decides to stop... If I try to turn and level off my course, it jerks again until it decides to stop. All thrusters are firing and some are going none stop or in small intermittent bursts... I don't understand what is happening, which is most frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. EDIT: So with help of a person, I found the issue was somehow related to how I renamed all thrusters and such. All thrusters had their own name, and all names were updated to the flight computer, yet removing those and using the thruster tool to auto rename fixed it.
How do you deal with partially activating thrusters from an FCU that doesn’t want to fire them because of very slight asymmetrical weight distribution? I’ve had this problem so many times now I just decide to deal with it or start a new blueprint
i am having a problem i cannot seem to solve. i have everything here done as it should be. i have made 2 different ships. and the thrusters will not operate. another note to add is that my buttons do not seem to work either.
Can you make it tutorial how to fix upgrades manually done on your starter ship like thrusters. I SOME thrusters and add it to the starters the starter ship but doesn't seem to work.
Your keboad sounds so satysfying. May i ask what kind of keyboard you are using? Great video btw! Just made a thruster but had problems to connect it. Thx man!
I made a small ship with two box thrusters on each side, as soon as go forward both thrusters are working, but the ship spins like crazy, how should I debug it?
sounds like the ships center of thrust is not aligned with the center of mass. Add manuever thrusters that control the pitch and the ship should try to automatically adjust
do you have a durability error? your max thrust is limited in order to prevent damage by default. you can turn that off in your game settings, but your ships will fall apart more often.
my thrusters seem to be having a unique problem not addressed in the video. I've shown people in game my ship design to players who have built working ships before, and they're stumped because with their understanding my ship should be working...
Currently at this point. Did you ever figure it out? I had my ship working, all I did was add ducts and now it doesn't work. Every value is assigned. I am stumped
@@calebcuster6896 I haven't figured it out for sure, but another ship started having the issue with a single thruster. Adding a bolt into the hard point attaching it to the thruster instead just the beams seemed to fix it, but haven't tried this solution on my other ship yet
and if you've connected everything correctly, got all the required components, the thrusters a connected and receiving power but your MFC?MFU refuse to communicate with each other? then what?

So far you are the only one to of shown me step by step what I did wrong and how to correct it, thank you so much, I now can fly forward :P
I've come back to this video 5 times, most useful thruster guide on yt!

This is a great resource for troubleshooting in starbase, thanks for the video.
best one yet i actually got a ship to fly now building from scratch well done

The starting ship used ducts. So they are still piped/cabled just using a different method

how do u check or change lever name outside this editor?

do generator cubes have to be bolted to the frame even though the generator burner is
probably a stupid thing question but my ship decides to become one with it's inner beyblade, what fixes this?

Try adding more spaced out manuever thrusters. Sometimes the game does just not want to work with certain configurations though

is grouping the only way to use more than 50 thrusters on a ship?
There are solutions using multiple MFUs but they are a bit complicated

Not a bad idea, i might consider it soon
Found how to add stuff to the Starter ship. Lol. Im Brokenbot
my engines are turning on and off randomly. I have checked that i do have sufficient power and propellent

You can run a ship with out batterys
How would one fix an issue where the thrust is only at 20% maximum, it all works, but just wont go above 20% thrust at max throttle
