I have watched an awful lot of these motovlog videos. This is my favorite. The scenery is fantastic, the sounds of the bike, the weather, your style. Good stuff. Thank you.
I've got my DAS next month and am looking at my first bike. I'm stuck between this 850 sport and the 660 sport. What are your thoughts between those two bikes?@@MOTOBOBVLOGS
Thanks! It's a bit hit and miss - this bike has a great induction and exhaust sound, so sticking the mic under the seat picks up a bit of both. But I was on a Harley a couple of days ago - nowhere to put it under the saddle and the stock pipes really smothered the sound. That said, I've got a 1290 Super Duke R coming up and a 1250 GS with the Akra pipes, so both of those should work nicely :)
@12:03 yes you can, it's just hard to do but also very satisfying when doing it properly :). Going down an alpine hairpin, having to rev match while downshifting and breaking ... definetly a sphincter tightening experience. But I do agree, a quickshifter helps a lot in those instances.
Watched all your videos on the Tiger 850. You sold me. Pick mine up next week with center stand and quick shifter. Our dealer doesn't offer Arrow cans anymore.
I would love to give one of the Tigers a season or two .I had the XS 750 Yamaha back in 1976 ..Loved the triple but it was a bit of a snatchy trottle ...Glad you revisited that valley road .It is amazing how fast a wall of water comes out of the sky in south Wales ... Stay dry if you can ...
Took delivery of mine on Monday and I just love it (so far). First time riding with a clutch, so I‘m a little nervous at times, but that is one of the reasons that I felt the quickshifter was worth it for me. Maybe not for everyone, but having learnt on a DCT and then switched to a Zero, I felt the QS would allow me to build up my confidence using the clutch without it becoming all or nothing from the word go. Big tour coming up next weekend so I‘m keen to see how i get on. All in all, a lovely bike.
I have the 2020 Tiger 1200 XCX with the quick shifter. I will never go back! You can use it or not at times. I love the fact that I can seamlessly down shift 2 gears mid corner with the throttle on to be in the perfect corner exit gear. It's simply MAGIC!!! Triumph has the smoothest one on the planet so it's a no brainer. The 850 is going to be a winner because they can't keep them on the shelves here in the USA. Great video Sir! 🙌👏👌🤙🖖✌👍👋🙂
That’s true regarding the mid corner shifts - they do feel stable. Just finished up with the 1290 Super Duke R and the quickshifter was sublime! The new Speed Triple is being delivered on Thursday though...
For me the problem with KTM is quality I have the 1090 on a 19 plate had it from new and the corrosion on the lower parts is not good. Traded in a Triumph Tiger 800XC 13 plate with no corrosion issues, now will be getting a new Tiger Sport replacement to the 1090, can’t wait to get back on a Triumph
Great review. CONGRATULATIONS for not standing up on the pegs at any time or taking it off road!!! Welcome relief from that nonsense adventure bullsh*t!
I bought a GT Pro in December and am loving it. The first time I rode in rain I found out my leather jacket (I've had it about four years) has mesh under the armpits. The stock windshield is just the right width to direct rain to armpit width. Within minutes I was riding home with water running down my ribs inside the jacket. It didn't take long to get a wider Givi touring shield on it. Unfortunately, the 900's quickshifter is getting a reputation for failing. Mine went at about 10,000 kms and am waiting for a warranty replacement. Some owners have them fail much sooner. Ironically for a British bike, people think they don't like getting wet.
People say don’t knock it until you’ve tried it but I’ve never tried a quick shifter and I don’t see the point for road riding, I like changing gear and getting it right. You talk a lot of sense ! 🇬🇧🏍
Cheers Stewy! Yeah I would definitely say they're worth trying and on some bikes they can be a bit of fun. But I just don't feel like we need them on every single bike now! To be fair you can switch them on and off with most bikes.
I’m really short, 5’1” or even less. I’m going to buy the 900 GT Low, 850 Sport with the low seat, or a Speed Twin 900. I really like Triumph. I sat on the 900 and 850 yesterday with regular seats and with butt scoots I could ride them fine. Lower seats would make it better, however. The 900 GT Low would be the ideal seat height for an adventure bike. And then there’s cost. That nudges me toward the Speed Twin 900. I could then trade up for a Tiger a couple of years later.
Great review 👍 Fancied something different from the street triple and was wondering what front end feel was like.... I didn't buy the old MT09 for that reason
Riding that bike down those roads is more fun than a barrel of monkeys! And what an aural treat from the induction roar and exhaust note. Really enjoying your V-logs, Bob, now I'm off to watch your more serious Tiger 850/900 comparison. 💪
Wow, this boy can ride! Lovely ride on a bike I had some doubts about. Thought it might be a bit penny-pinched compared to the 900 but they might have just hit it about right? I still love my T100 but thanks - great new blog Bob thanks 👍 Subscribed
Great video I'm in the market for a light adventure bike can't decide scrambler 900 or tiger 850 both possibly need some tiny add ons but anything above £10500.00 starts getting pricy big waiting list for both Triumphs September /October from my Dealer?
Great perceptive, pragmatic review. Your assessment of quickshifters and razor sharp brakes are spot on for me. I'll take progressive brakes, as in want more pull more, any day thank you. Quickshifters are great fun and worth time on the track but I prefer the involvement of manually shifting. Almost there with a deal on an 850 Sport and a ride on one will probably seal it! Keep it up...Subscribed
Niiice, I'm across that way in a couple of weeks to see my in-laws (assuming our Covid unlocking continues apace), if you see a Scrambler 1200 with two panniers on, gis a wave 😁. Try heading Malvern way, there's some gorgeous roads out there as well; Ledbury and British Camp will be rammed with bikes if the weather improves.
@@MOTOBOBVLOGS A449 is the obvious one, though don’t bother after Malvern, A438 back to Hereford is also good but, tbh, Just turning off and getting lost around that area is excellent, all the Welsh border riding is pretty impressive

I think you really hit on here something comparing the 890 S to the Tiger 850 Sport. I was sitting on the edge of my seat just as you were going to say which one you would pick (and then went on to talk about future filming location...). I want to ride off road, but I truthful, it is really just not available much here unless you just happen upon a spot. So, which one would you pick? It is a tough choice.
Honestly I still don’t know. I guess the 890 and Tiger 900 Rally might be a better comparison because they’re closer in price and features. To be honest I’d probably go for the tiger 900 for the finish and looks which are far better IMO, but when the Husky Norden 901 is released with the 890’s engine and chassis in a better looking package... I’d find that hard to resist.
@@MOTOBOBVLOGS the Tiger 850 Sport is cheaper new at $11,999 as compared to the KTM 890 Adventure S at $13,100 in the USA. This makes it very tempting, plus more dealer support for Triumph.
How did the 850 Sport behave on wet roads with the Anakee Adventure tyres? Did you use the 'rain' mode, and if so was it any easy switch over on the fly and noticeably gentler?
Good video! What you recommend the Tiger 850 sport or 890 Adventure? Now riding the Trident 660 as my first bike for 8 month, but little bit of the small side with my 6,3. I'm looking to upgrade to my first adventure bike. I'm 24 years old, still at the beginner side of motorriding, I only ride on the road (in the Netherlands, we dont have a lot of ofroad). Which of the 2 bikes you recommend? I appreciate it

Really enjoy this format. Great to see more of the road and actual riding.
The exhaust mic is a really great touch. That’s added a lot of character to these videos. Very nicely done. Loving this as a separate channel.
