I love the ADV bikes bc 1st Im a dad lol and 2nd, they make the most sense especially if commuting. Tour bikes are too big and heavy, cruisers aka harleys are too heavy and expensive. @The Insufferable Tool i don't think a bit of fork adjustment is going to help you out on the height front. Preload is about weight. And damping never changes the height.
@The Insufferable Tool it's actually worse if you're to light for a bike but luckily if you're around 75kg it's made for you. I'm 12 1/2 stone and 5'10 1/2. The European bikes are set up for more weight than Japanese models as there all 5'5" and 60kg
@The Insufferable Tool i use the pre load when my girlfriend is on the back I can get the height to where it is with just me on it. I think for a lot of people buying motorcycles a set of springs to suit the riders weight is required. No bike could work with people both 6 stone and 20 stone. And also the compromise between a plush ride vs bottoming out the suspension.
Bought the first one sold in the U.S. to compliment my 2020 Street Triple R. Great video that points all the reasons I chose it as soon as I read about it.
@@asanrushid4981 they are completely different bikes, it would depend on my riding. Btw, my last one was a 2012 Versys 650. Great bike, just a bit underpowered
I fell in love with Triumph back in the 1970's, as a kid... great memories... but, having trouble warming up to them knowing that they are manufactured now in Bangkok, Thailand. Triumph should consider building their bikes in the USA, that are sold in the USA, with parts availability in the USA. It'd be interesting to know how much more expensive they would be, as a result.
Yammer, check out the F900XR solid 2nd bike, starts at ~11k.. more affordable than this triumph, great ergos, more powerful than this triumph, better in twisties, better tech, (albiet opinion) but much better looking. C'mon my man, tell the people what they need to hear. BMW is making more budget friendly bikes in the F900 option and the people need to know! Love the content!
This bike seems cool. I wanted a sport touring bike but instead I bought a kTm 790 adventure. Long story short I bought it in 2019 its now 2021 and I've only been off road 3 times. That and the reliability issues. Think I'm gonna trade my kTm in on this bike as all I want now is adventure ergos with long distance capabilities
So the question really is, are the heated seats, grips, hand guards, engine protection and additional rider modes worth the extra $5k? I can also confirm that the Tiger turns heads of random middle age dudes (being one myself). Can also confirm the SUV comparison but I'd say its a lot like a Tahoe or Expedition in that its a larger, not as nimble off road SUV compared to say a Jeep Wrangler. Yeah the rally pro will get through the same stuff my buddy's KLX250 does, but it is NOT happy about some of it.
It’s kinda wierd. Triumph targets the buyers that are mainly road adventurers for this 850 Sport, but on a bike like this, why isnt cruise control optional?🤔 i really miss that accessory for the 850. The "budget" 750GS does come with it
I've heard positive honest reviews on them (stating the flaws and weaknesses). They are not as good as the big four brands, but are supposedly on the top end of Chinese built and have the support of an American company thats been in business for decades now. If you're not going to be doing lots of freeway traveling or hard off road riding, don't mind doing your own maintenance and it's what you can afford I think it's a decent option. I've considered one just to try out dual sports without financing a better bike. I would say if you can afford one of the big four brands, go that route. Especially if it's your only or first bike. Keep in mind the CSC TT250 is old tech and not fuel injected.
Dad bike just means a bike for someone who has spent time trying bikes and wants something good and comfortable. Plus Yam obviously has too much money to burn if this, a bike that is the same price as my car, is cheap a second bike.
Man I wish Yamaha had made the new MT-09 T plane like this triple. Sounds so much better, and the sound profile would match up with the my-07 and mt-10. Basically a cross plane four without the fourth cylinder
Thanks a lot for the great review. Wondering what are your thoughts comparing this tiger to the BMW F750GS. I read reviews suggesting that the F750 is almost as good as most slandered motorbikes on the streets. Also maybe against the Triumph Street Scrambler. Know they are different but wondering to hear your thoughts.
Gotta ask as EU bro... why in US in recent years are always on new bikes bulb indicators? Literally no LEDs as stock... on this model in EU, we have LED indicators, stock. I'm just curious - why is that?
I rode that same bike (literally) at Emma Long on the trail. Motor feels great but I was pretty upset that I couldn’t turn off the ABS. Probably should’ve apologized to triumph for bashing the skid plate as hard as I did.
Pirelli Angel GT2’s are what I run for the winter, great tires. Bit on the pricey side but only use them for the winter and put on a sportier set for the rest of the year.
The Triumph 850 sounds good for an all around bike. One question for us older people who like to bring stuff. Are bags available that look ok with this Transformer style look? I should be asking for a good cheap bike suggestion if possible. A 2-3k average price? Had a Hayabusa and yeah they're nuts!!! I'm thinking mid control's sit up style, not a totally top sitting style like a dirt bike but rather more relaxing like described of the Triumph 850. At that price what bike and how much will be a lucky find at best I'm sure...thx
Thanks to Triumph for sending this bike over! Keep the discussion going at www.yammienoob.co

It's only 15hp down despite 1 less piston and 250cc. Difference and the verses is lighter.
Imagine a verses 975cc triple with 102hp with the same pistons as the 650cc just 1 more the numbers look good
I really enjoy your reviews. Hopefully, you’ll add more straight bike reviews to your repertoire.
I'm 5'11" as well and 20 mm bar risers were perfect for my 900 GT Pro
"Why are you on the wrong side of the road dude" be safe out there homies
So the question really is, are the heated seats, grips, hand guards, engine protection and additional rider modes worth the extra $5k?
I can also confirm that the Tiger turns heads of random middle age dudes (being one myself). Can also confirm the SUV comparison but I'd say its a lot like a Tahoe or Expedition in that its a larger, not as nimble off road SUV compared to say a Jeep Wrangler. Yeah the rally pro will get through the same stuff my buddy's KLX250 does, but it is NOT happy about some of it.
i totally thought this was F9 video but i aint gonna complaint
*complain
@@hazardpie7603 sure
@@stuck4uk714 sorry for that
@@hazardpie7603 dont apologize
It’s kinda wierd. Triumph targets the buyers that are mainly road adventurers for this 850 Sport, but on a bike like this, why isnt cruise control optional?🤔 i really miss that accessory for the 850. The "budget" 750GS does come with it
Do you experience any vibrations from engine between 3k-4k rpms? Near 50-60 km/h?
Which do you like better, this Tiger 850 or the new Aprilla Taureg you just got?
I quite enjoy the new style of videos
I love it. It’s perfect for the average Joe.
What’s your opinion on the csc tt250 dual sport? I wanna get a bike and that’s a nice cheap option but I don’t wanna buy a complete garbage one
@@davidklementis5913 dang thanks for the info man, I’ll definitely keep in in consideration
6:07 The honda CB500X weights about 434 lbs without luggage cases
Dad bike just means a bike for someone who has spent time trying bikes and wants something good and comfortable. Plus Yam obviously has too much money to burn if this, a bike that is the same price as my car, is cheap a second bike.
Hey Hyss, I actually just test drove the 900 gt yesterday and you are 100% right, they do it all well.
Boy, I think I need one to take some of the work off my Daytonas back.
My next bike in red!! Thanks 🙏🏻
Buy tiger 850 + flash ECU = profit. Even the tiger 900 is being held back pretty significantly
long live ADV brotherhood
Im curious how it compares to a new vstrom 650(cheaper) and a gs850(more expensive)
Nice Bike and Review. Thanks.
Man I wish Yamaha had made the new MT-09 T plane like this triple. Sounds so much better, and the sound profile would match up with the my-07 and mt-10. Basically a cross plane four without the fourth cylinder
It is a cross-plane. I own one, I know.
Awesome vid yammie! Test the BMW R1250r or the F900r... 😏
Im in love with that tiger 850
Great review. Thank-you.
Great vid, Thanks! How would you compare this one to a Tenere 700?
Triumph takes a dump on the road. Yammie Noob: "Triumph really knocked it out of the park with this one".
If it's the same engine as the 900, has the aftermarket figured out a way to "retune" the engine?
I had the same question. Did anyone answer it for you somewhere else?
Thanks a lot for the great review. Wondering what are your thoughts comparing this tiger to the BMW F750GS. I read reviews suggesting that the F750 is almost as good as most slandered motorbikes on the streets. Also maybe against the Triumph Street Scrambler. Know they are different but wondering to hear your thoughts.
Better than the Kawasaki Versys 650 LT? I'm trying to make a decision.
Sweet. Now you're ready for the Baja 1000.
I ride a 250cc cruiser can I upgrade to this and be fine?
Looks good wouldnt mind it when I start commuting
Gotta ask as EU bro... why in US in recent years are always on new bikes
bulb indicators? Literally no LEDs as stock... on this model in EU, we have LED indicators, stock. I'm just curious - why is that?
I rode that same bike (literally) at Emma Long on the trail. Motor feels great but I was pretty upset that I couldn’t turn off the ABS. Probably should’ve apologized to triumph for bashing the skid plate as hard as I did.
Here in a couple months the Tiger 660 is gonna be out, how about a video on that one?
I'm 32 and I really like this bike. Between this and the Moto Guzzi V85tt what do you think?
My wish bike with the quickshifter!
Do yall know any good nakedbike rain/snow/black-ice tires??
Pirelli Angel GT2’s are what I run for the winter, great tires. Bit on the pricey side but only use them for the winter and put on a sportier set for the rest of the year.
Continental makes some good "sport tourer" tires that are excellent in the wet
Thanks guys
So a question is it just a quick tune to get back the extra 10 ponies?
@matty d did you watch the video? He said it's same motor detuned
It's the exactly same motor....
Interesting cause that's exactly what he said same motor down tuned to be more manageable
@matty d uh.. It's same 888cc motor, detuned, wack an 850cc sticker on it.. Tada!
Nice bike
