Bliss! This was burned into my brain during the summer of 1974 or 1975; I was 12 or 13. I credit this very album as the most important music I have listened to.
J'ai 65 ans, j'en avais 20 et je ressens les mêmes émotions en écoutant ce merveilleux album. Je veux le réécouter sur vinyle. Merci pour cette version
Thank you for uploading this! My brother had the album- which is now mine! My favorite has always been Sally Simpson. :-) This is bringing back so many memories!
I've been searching for this recording for y e a r s. So glad to have found it. Absolutely one of my favorite pieces. Love The Who; but this is such an incredible interpretation!!!
Cool. I have my "Tommy" head on at the moment so this is a good reminder from the past. However, it wasn't released in 1969, it was 1971 as it was given to me for xmas that year.
a few years ago I went into a vinyl record store in Stirling on a no hope search for this album, a fave of mine and my sisters in 1974. After an hour searching, I found the bottom album on the last shelf, i turned it around, and there was the title "Tommy". Unbelievable. And for all its corniness, its still a wonderful piece of work.
I like Lou Reizner's version the best. The chorale of See Me, Feel Me in particular. I've been to Stirling, once. Actually , I was at a party in Buchlivie, and drove in to buy a bottle of Tequila Cuervo. Cheers and salutations, from Tijuana.
es una gran versión; además de los acertados intérpretes para cada personaje hay que agregar el lujo del box con que viene el vinilo, 26 dibujos comics a todo color y de indudable valor artístico,
So much power - although this is the most unlucky CD for me... Lost my original vinyl copy when we moved. Got a CD to replace it - left that in my car when it went back to the hire company never to be seen again so I have now just ordered it yet again... I’m retired now so perhaps I will be a bit more lucky as the best CD I have ever owned (and lost).😃😃😃
It's too bad people don't recognize more what an absolutely stunning album this is. The who graduated to an entire new level so quickly on this album, certainly comparable to the Beatles and Pink Floyd as far as creativity goes. Pete Townshend of course pure genius
Well, the rock beat is only heard from the end of the Overture to the end of the Sparks section. Pete, John & Keith might have put down rhythm tracks for these parts, but the rest of it is the symphony orchestra & choir. I enjoy Roger's doing of "We're Not Gonna Take It" in this version.
This seriously was a movie in music. I mean I was like 13 when it came out and it was like reading a book, like Total drama as I was listening to the story about this dumb and blind boy.
This is my all-time FAVORITE version of the rock opera that is 'Tommy'. Still have it on vinyl. The only part that is worthwhile on the movie soundtrack (and the best) is Tina Turner's "Acid Queen". Elton John has done much better work than "Pinball Wizard". LOVE the London Symphony Orchestra.
I have a copy of this, and the audio on this sounds off. I can't put my finger on it. I love the overture especially, but this transfer sounds off and muffled. Especially the SEE ME part, did you have this on cassette ? Everyone listening, this is not how the album sounds, this is a muffled transfer flop.
@korgri Different strokes, I guess. I think it's a masterpiece, and the Who themselves were in on the thing the whole time. Are you used to the film's version or something?
Yes, but only Pete Townsend, Roger Entwhistle and Roger Daltrey get credit. I'm sure that Keith Moon did his part by playing drums for the It's A Boy, 1921, and the Amazing Journey/Sparks section.
You can get this recording on CD and it sounds much better than this. There are some overtones and feedback in this recording that aren't present on the album. The transfer has some problems.
I prefer the Who's version to this version. There's hardly any rock and roll in this recording, although the London Symphony Orchestra performs this to a tee. Of course, Peter Townsend, Keith Moon and John Entwhistle contribute rock tracks to this recording.
Ich bin 79,aber da verfliegt mein alter, einfach Super!!!!🎉
The ultimate rock opera of all time , takes me well back to the most amazing place in my life , the 1970 s
Bliss! This was burned into my brain during the summer of 1974 or 1975; I was 12 or 13. I credit this very album as the most important music I have listened to.
Yes this is Tommy musical i grew up with! The best of all

Mahalo from Hawai'i for putting this album on the Tube....I still have an excellent 33rpm...still amazing as ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I loved this back then in early 70s. This is OLD.
I've been searching for this recording for y e a r s. So glad to have found it. Absolutely one of my favorite pieces. Love The Who; but this is such an incredible interpretation!!!
I was born in 1970 and grew up listening to this. I remember staring at the pictures in the book and trying to make sense of the story.
Cool. I have my "Tommy" head on at the moment so this is a good reminder from the past. However, it wasn't released in 1969, it was 1971 as it was given to me for xmas that year.

omg....this gives me the chills again after so many years!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Tommy and the Who!!!!!!!!!
Tommy. Um grande momento do rock. Um momento feliz. Essa abertura é simplesmente maravilhosa.
loved this as a kid
pete is a genius
The London symphony orchestra is the best recoding of the who’s original
One of my absolute favorite albums! Heard it in a public library many years ago and wanted to buy it for myself but it's out of print!!!
es una gran versión; además de los acertados intérpretes para cada personaje hay que agregar el lujo del box con que viene el vinilo, 26 dibujos comics a todo color y de indudable valor artístico,
great version and arrangement- another townsend classic arrangement
Thanks for this capolavoro

OBRA-PRIMA!!!!
A brilliant album! In my view the music on here is superior to that of the movie. Maggie Bell, Sandy Denny and Richie Havens are exceptional.

THEY EYES! THEY STARE AT ME
O.o
I have a copy signed by Roger Daltrey.
it cost me 7 shillings and 6d just for the import duty from USA. well worth it.
What have you done to the sound? It sounds like it's it a tunnel!

Are there other albums/recordings out there that have Pete Townshend / The Who's music ....such as Who are You in orchestral ?
Where can I get a copy of this ? I would like it to be on 33

Entwistle's first name is "John," and there is no "h" in Entwistle.
@JG300Ascout
No "h" in Entwistle.
