I have a 2002 SSie and a 996. The SS is definitely more fun around town and pretty damn good in the twistys. Long rides are not a problem at all. I really really like the look of the SS. Still looks better then some of the current bikes. Engine seems bulletproof. It's stupid ez to work on as well. I have high mount cans on mine and the idel hangs out around 900 to 1k. Very slow blub blub with some klack and jingle from the clutch. LOVE IT. The 996 is fun as well after to tackle the butt cooking exhaust with header wrap and heat shields under the seat. I have been waiting for another SS for a long time. At last we are getting a new SS but wow. It's pretty damn ugly and once again Ducati gives us a craptastic instrument cluster then goes fast and furious style with the blue. They really need to use the 1299s display on lower models.
@@alenanic9546 L is just a tilted V twin so it looks like an L instead of a V - and is merely an internal term Ducati uses to appear more special. But the engine itself is completely similar to any other 90 degree V twin
How did an 80bhp bike could be considered powerful ? If im not mistaken most sportbikes from that era with comparable displacement make at least 100bgp.
Get one and you will see why. I have owned high-displacement Japanese motorcycles but the first time I tried the 2001 Ducati ss I fell in love with it. I still have it for the weekends and every day I drive a 2005 Ducati Multistrada 1000 ds. Once you drive a Ducati you don't want to have anything else.
I had a 900SS for a while, its peeeelenty fast, the motor has some character about it, its addictive even with the low rev limit. such a low center of mass, hugely powerful brakes, really nice seat too, I could never find neutral but man, what a machine.
Beautiful, I have the 750 variant smaller engine but the same stunning look!
Men and motors have the best reviews ever!
All their reviews are made by witty gentleman.
Love watching them!

LKNANML i have got a question :
is IT normal that there is a little cracking if the engine is cold?
Best looking Ducati ever made.

Still love how this bike looks. This makes not for speed. But for cruising.
I just a red version in almost perfect condition, I am enjoying every ride.

They're actually L twin, not V twin.

It's the high torque from a v twin or L twin to be correct.

They are slightly lighter than other bikes of the era

If ever a bike needed aftermarket cans....
Disgusting exhaust note. Beautiful machine though.
