A Jamaican friend of mine once asked me how much I smoke. I asked him why he thought I smoked, and he answered that I am so into the Blues I have to be Black on the Inside.
Still can't believe it was 30 years just last month. I saw him the night before he died and had a few friends that saw his final show. Unreal. God bless.
Texas Flood at the Mocambo has been taken down immediately by several reactors in the last couple of weeks that's why I suggested 1989 Inauguration. It's less likely to be taken down even though it's shorter, the point is the same playing technique
Go for it! Even if it gets taken down! YOU HAVE TO SEE IT! It’s Stevie Ray Vaughn! He was AMAZING in the truest sense of the word! You’ll never tire of him. I love listening to him when I’m tired and have to make dinner for the kids! You’ll be in the BEST mood! ❤️❤️❤️
You are right there baby girl! Stevie Ray Vaughan was the greatest of all time. And there were (and are) many great ones. Unfortunately, Stevie died tragically in a helicopter crash on August 27th, 1990. He was only 35 years old... There's been a popular saying around the guitar world ever since he passed... "God wanted guitar lessons, so he took Stevie Ray!"
I was at that show. Tragic. Most artists come and go from that venue via helicopter because it's out in the boonies. They fly into a larger airport and then chopper into East Troy.
Priceless moments like this when anyone listens to anything different in any music genre like this young lady it’s truly a blessing how she is vibing to this yes this man was a beast
I was lucky enough to see Stevie Ray Vaughan before he was killed in a helicopter crash August 27th 1990. Eric Clapton had just told him he was the best guitar player in the world and I do believe Clapton was right. I had box seats in the saenger theater in Pensacola Florida it only holds 1800 people and he stood 12 feet from me all night long. One of my top 10 favorite concerts for sure if not number one and I've seen a couple hundred in my day. And I like Hendrix but Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of voodoo child is much better.
My buddy saw SRV at Alpine Valley, outside of Chicago, at his last concert before his tragic death. He went there to see Eric Clapton, who was headlining the show. He said that Stevie Ray blew Clapton out of the water, and Clapton is his favorite artist. RIP SRV
I was at that show- Clapton's encore was "Sweet Home Chicago"- everyone came on stage to play- including Buddy Guy- everyone took their turn playing a solo and Clapton went in front of SRV - letting SRV "take it home"-showing everyone who HE thought was the best.
Lot of people don't know Stevie was a very humble person. He never thought he was good enough. His mentor, the legendary Blues Man Albert King, always told him he could do better.
Not only good this man Rock he had a lot of soul, Blues, and a little bit of Funk when he played that guitar such a talented man. May he rest in peace one of the greatest guitarists ever
There's footage of Stevie Ray playing in clubs, when he has no idea somebody is filming him; remember, this is before everybody carried cameras. What you're seeing in this video is just how he is. He is just that intense, all the time. That's how seriously he took what he did. This is one of the greatest guitar performances you'll ever see. And it's a day at the office for Stevie Ray Vaughan.
What's crazy is this performance wasn't supposed to be recorded on film, the film crew got there a night early. So the film crew went to the club they were supposed to film a band the next night at. After a song and a half, they were tripping over each other to scramble and get set up to film 🎥. This was before vhs 📼, so it was a long set up. This is one of the best live recordings of S.R.V., and to think it was almost missed!..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
look up stevie ray vaughan guitar string. while he is performing the string breaks, he switches guitars mid song, it was the smoothest guitar change ever.
I remember that day too. I bawled like a baby. Was blessed to see him in concert 2x. Once with his brothers band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, played as well. Jimmy & Stevie played the double neck guitar together = AWESOME SHOW!
I had just landed in New York after having been in Europe for 2 weeks. First thing my father told me when I got in the car was that Stevie died. I cried all the way home, and it was an hour and a half from the airport. When I got home I turned on the TV and MTV was showing Stevie's unplugged performance. Combination of jet-lag, grief, and sorrow. Yeah... THAT was really a tough one.
Being a native Texan myself, Stevie Ray was OUR guitar god. I got the privilege of seeing him live over 20 times, including a couple of times before he really got famous! The day he died, all of Texas mourned. I could tell you really were mesmerized by watching a true genius at work!
LarryWT, Texas also gave us the incredibly talented Johnny (RIP) and Edgar Winter, and Janis Joplin. There must be something in the water in the Lone Star state!
Absolutely LOVE watching the current generation getting the PRIVILEGE of hearing the GOAT playing his guitar. At 65, I've had the privilege of seeing SRV a while back, and never stopped listening and won't EVER. If u truly appreciate once on a multiple generation artist then look no further...ENJOY!
I love Stevie because he is never a faker, if you know guitar you can see everything he is playing. I stand in awe of SRV. That is holy work, that gift of his is straight from the heavens.
Jayy that’s the GOAT right there!! I share a birthday with Stevie and every year on our day I crank his music up all day long! I got to finally go visit his memorial statue in Austin, TX last year and it was a sight. Love him and can’t wait for you to check out more of him! 👏🙌💯
I am one of the lucky people. I got to see him live on his " Soul to Soul " tour in Bolder Colorado. Lonnie Mack opened for him. Lonnie is another great guitar player. But Stevie was the best. Both have sadly passed, but i like to think they are playing in heaven.
There were a lot of long hours of practice and hard work for Stevie Ray to get where he was as a musician - and he loved every minute of it - he was born to play guitar and he played the hell out of it
I highly recommend the live version of this song, life without you. There you can really hear him sing. In the middle of the song, Stevie gives a great message that is so needed today
I was at a Double Trouble concert a few years after Stevie died, and they mentioned in their set that it took 2 guitarists to achieve the sound that Stevie made by himself. SRV was top 3 best ever.
You can't help but be spellbound when SRV takes off and does his thing! It's a testament to what a phenomenal musician he was and how much his music still resonates with us.
There is so much for you to react to with SRV!! I am excited that you have found him for reactions!!!!! please continue down the SRV "Rabbit hole" Texas Flood would be a logical next step. but you really can't go a wrong way... With the exception of Saving SRV with Johnny Copeland's "Tin Pan Alley" for later. That is probably the Best "Dirty Pool" Blues ever caught on video. I can't wait for your next SRV reaction!!
It truly just stuns you into speechlessness. Such power from the 3 of them. I know SRV is the best, but he's got the other 2 laying down the groove so he can play over top of it. I wish I could hear him again for the first time.
It's really awesome to see young people experiencing the great musicians from the past. I was lucky enough to see him live in Detroit (alongside Jeff Beck) a few months before he tragically passed away. RIP Stevie Ray.
Several years ago I bought an SRV collection which contained three CDs and a DVD which contained this performance. My favorite part of the DVD is during his performance of Mary Had a Little Lamb. I won't spoil it for you here, in case you want to check it out for yourself.
When ever I watch him, it's sad for me. Because of wondering what he would have done. As a musician, I can tell that guitar was almost part of his soal. Doing that with such thick strings, and such a high action. Even had to superglue his finger tips back on. Then went on stage. He was also Albert Kings godson.
I am so excited to see the younger generation discovering SRV. Keep in mind on your journey that he played with really heavy strings that most players won't touch, 'cuz they can't bend them. Also, watch only live performances as they are the best...No auto-tune or lip sync etc. Stevie would oft-times go to his amps mid song & make adjustments. There is alot to discover about the gifted, & by all accounts, humble man who left us way too soon. Thank you for this & I look forward to you discovering who Eric Clapton said was the Best Player On The Planet. I am 63 & saw him live in 1988! Please continue your journey of one of the most gifted musicians I've ever seen or heard...SRV!
Also "Beth Hart - Caught Out In The Rain (Live At The Royal Albert Hall)" "Beth & Joe - I'd Rather Go Blind - Live in Amsterdam" And to blow your socks off "Beth Hart - Am I The One - Live At Paradiso"
This a Jimi Hendrix song. You should hear the original sometime. SRV does a great job covering this song. I think John Mayer does it well also. You should hear SRV’s cover of ‘Little Wing’. Another Hendrix tune. Clearly SRV admired Hendrix.
There are guitarists who are brilliant technicians and guitarists who play with enough soul and heart to fill a solar system. Stevie Ray was both. Gone too soon. Always a joy to see young people discovering and recognizing the greats.
SRV was an absolute badass! I remember when he died, another sad day of many in the music world. We're truly blessed to have these clips and audio to memorialize these masters of their trades...
Actually, I have seen quite a few guitarists play the guitar with their teeth, in the case of Steve Vai, I've also witnessed him play with both, although I'm sure that Jimi was the first...
The man was a genius, and taken from the world far too soon. Been listening to him all my life, and it never gets old. The look on your face says it all, darling. ❤️🎸
Little sister, you were like me when I discovered Stevie back in the 80s, you made me relive that, and you made me get real emotional, thank you very much.
SRV sent all the kids to the woodsheds. As much as his playing was beyond anything of this world, his voice is often overlooked. He was the complete package. Absolute beast. Like Michael Jordan.
Stevie will remain the greatest of all time. No one can come close. He learned playing with the greats Albert King and B.B. King and others. The blues man from Texas. There will only be one SRV. Rest in peace.
Hip-hopers and rappers, go back home, lock the doors and don't come back until you can play music and sing... with no Autotune and others fake studio tricks.
Also check out Eric Clapton, ZZ TOP, JImmy Paige, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, , Gillmore from pink floyd, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Dwayne Alman, so many others that were also great in their own right.
I went to one of his concerts one time and I just stood there and cried. The electricity just flowed through me. He is the best in the world as far as I’m concerned 😟
He was so good that he never performed it exactly the same twice. And every performance was just as good. He was legendary for playing the guitar behind his back. And in several performances he broke a guitar string and changed out guitars without missing a beat.
Love it! Glad you almost lost your mind at 2:40..... yeah, that’s what Stevie does. Thank you for keeping him and his music alive for your generation! 💪🏼🤙🏼
He certainly didn’t wake up playin like that! So many years of hard work, while others were out playing around. Thus man was dedicated. Talent yes. RIP SRV
Thank you for reacting to Stevie Ray Vaughn! This concert is from Austin City Limits, the longest running music show in American television. Being from Austin I got to see SRV several times back in the day. Also met him backstage at Prince's Purple Rain Tour back in 1985. Stevie was very gracious and appreciative of the recognition. We lost him too soon.
My girl looked shell shocked - and rightly so cause you just saw someone who is considered to be one of the greatest electric guitar players of all time.
I just love the way you are speechless and the stunned look on your face at the end of the song. He was the greatest guitarist of all time, even to this day.
Mercy where do I begin Stevie Ray was a Dallas boy lived in Oak Cliff went to Kimball High School with my cousin ..back in 64 or about..they used to jam together in the garage long before he was famous ... Stevie Ray is like a god in Texas but not just Tx. he is recognized all over the world as one of a handful of the greatest guitarist ever...he died in 1990 just 30 years ago in a helicopter crash ...it took his life and three members of the Eric Clapton Entourage ...Not only was he considered one of the best by the fans but also by people like Eric Clapton Jeff Beck most all other guitarist adore Stevie Ray's ability ...he could make a guitar sing like a woman's passion...Voodoo Woman is a good song but it is definitely not his best... check out some of his other stuff everything he did was amazing ...and even now thirty years after his death people still buy his albums and listen to his music and praise Him ...literally... Down there we called it Texas soul ..but I think Stevie Ray had something that was all his own...and has never really been reproduced by anybody else... couple of my favorites if you want to check them out are... actually the Texas Flood album is probably my very favorite the entire album but I think one of his best songs of Pride and Joy freaking amazing.... you enjoy girl and thanks for the reviews... I love to watch your face when something really great comes along ....it's great to know that you younger kids are appreciating some of the stuff that came out while us us old folks we're young
Can't nobody come close to Stevie Ray guitar playing!! I have seen many guitarist play in my time down here in Austin Texas, 6th street Music capital has some of the best ever play down here in the Dirty South but Steve was the best blues guitarist I have ever seen, period!! RIP STEVIE 🙏
I'm 66 years old and have been listening to SRV since he started playing. I get the same look on my face, the one you have right now, every time I watch him. Every time.
One of the coolest quotes was from the blues legen B.B. King who was talking about SRV. He said that when he plays the blues; he plays the blues in Sentences, but Stevie plays the blues in Paragraphs.
As Eric Clapton pointed out, Stevie Ray Vaughan had "an antenna to God' when he played. It came from above and went straight out through those hands....
He worked for decades to get that talent his older brother Jimmy who plays lead guitarist for The Fabulous Thunderbirds said when they were little Stevie would play until he shreds of calluses off of his fingers and then he can crazy glue and back on and keep right on practicing that's how it gets that good
"I've said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie Ray Vaughan missed on both counts, but I never noticed."
- B. B. King
SRV is a absolute wizard! All of his stuff is amazing. Texas Flood is a good example.
Bo Diddy said Stevie Ray Vaughan was a white dude with a black man soul when it comes to the blues.Top 5 guitar player ever
he was partly👉🏾Apache...maybe that’s something in his deeply American soul.❤️
He also said that SRV is the only guy he'd get on stage with. Huge props from the Gdfather of Blues
A Jamaican friend of mine once asked me how much I smoke. I asked him why he thought I smoked, and he answered that I am so into the Blues I have to be Black on the Inside.
Said everyone “no one can cover a Jimi Hendrix song “
Stevie Ray “Hold my beer”
MIC DROP. :)
Can you imagine JimI and Stevie jamming in heaven?
So tragic that they were both taken from us way too early.
BINGO!! :-) May they both R.I.P.
you mean "Hold my Crown Royal"
Have you ever witnessed something so incredible that you don't want to blink out of fear of missing something? That's me watching SRV.
Stevie is the shit
That's right!
When anyone says God I picture stevie....
The GOAT
I saw him live in concert in the late 80's in Fort Wayne Indiana. My nephew and I enjoyed him immensely. 🤗❤
Greatest guitarist of all time in my opinion...Rest in peace SRV...
Do you think he's better than Jimmy Page?
@@raycampbell162Uh.....YES!! SRV is most definitely THE G.O.A.T.
Stevie is up there with the greats. Danny Gatton is on the same level but Django Reinhardt is just ahead

I completely agree. Outstanding performance by SRV....well, actually they ALL are! :) And, yes indeed - may he R.I.P.
Etta James called him, "The baddest of all the white boys."
Wouldn't argee with etta .... But others might say that gibbions kid wtih zztop. ..or clapton
@@R00_R00 roo i have listened to em all .. Ya eric could at times do that ... But if he wanted ... He could blow away the others ...
Very high praise, indeed... Now they can jam together forever with Stevie and Jimmi trading licks and Etta singing backup...

Yup!!!
I tie him with BB King's string break .
Just smooth !
Plus his strings were really heavy gauge. Most guitarists would shred their fingers trying to do what he did.
There are at least two videos on UA-cam showing string breaks during performances. Never misses a lick from broken string or during guitar swap.
Broken 12 gauge will decapitate somebody!! how do you break a "cable" brutal.
I’ll never forget the morning I woke up and heard he had been killed. I was distraught. We lost one of the greatest talents ever.

There are guitarists who are brilliant technicians and guitarists who play with enough soul and heart to fill a solar system. Stevie Ray was both. Gone too soon.
Always a joy to see young people discovering and recognizing the greats.
He’s AWESOME but you’ve GOTTA experience Jimi Hendrix...he will blow your mind as well.
I give him his due but please listen to Jimi hendrix, voodoo child
SRV was an absolute badass! I remember when he died, another sad day of many in the music world. We're truly blessed to have these clips and audio to memorialize these masters of their trades...
So have you ever seen someone play the guitar with their teeth and tongue? Try Jimi Hendrix and the song is “hey joe”.
SRV was one of the best guitarists ever.
Little sister, you were like me when I discovered Stevie back in the 80s, you made me relive that, and you made me get real emotional, thank you very much.
Need to check out Jimi Hendrix.
SRV sent all the kids to the woodsheds. As much as his playing was beyond anything of this world, his voice is often overlooked. He was the complete package. Absolute beast. Like Michael Jordan.
Jimi Hendrix made this song. VERY IMPORTANT
Stevie is the best there ever and will be.
You have got to hear his instrumental cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing”.... pure bliss!
You’re right. He is on every list of best guitarists of all time. Cheers.
Stevie Ray Vaughn Sister, he was and is a beautiful soul and we miss him ! Rest in peace on this beautiful day of love.......S.R.V.
Also check out Eric Clapton, ZZ TOP, JImmy Paige, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, , Gillmore from pink floyd, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Dwayne Alman, so many others that were also great in their own right.
I get chills every time he plays that guitar. The best that ever was. R.I.P. SRV
Stevie Ray Vaughan"Life Without You" Capital theater God bless
Your reaction should get a gold medal!! STEVIE IS LIFE😍🎸🔥😍🎸🔥😍🎸🔥😍!!!!
There are so many great guitar players..no one the greatest,,for the style..stevie stands alone...god broke the mold on that man..texas proud
I love too see peoples reaction to the first tome seeing Stevie play and yours was really good
glad to see young people whos minds are pouted by rap music hear what real music and talent is
My girl looked shell shocked - and rightly so cause you just saw someone who is considered to be one of the greatest electric guitar players of all time.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the best and there will never be another one like him RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan I can't wait to see you on the other side brother
Stevie radiated pure, unadulterated soul.
I can see you are touched by that
I just love the way you are speechless and the stunned look on your face at the end of the song.
I have seen many guitarist play in my time down here in Austin Texas, 6th street
Music capital has some of the best ever play down here in the Dirty South but Steve was the best blues guitarist I have ever seen, period!! RIP STEVIE 🙏
I'm 66 years old and have been listening to SRV since he started playing. I get the same look on my face, the one you have right now, every time I watch him. Every time.
Just one more great reason it’s so damn good to be from Texas
Yep...this is why he is such a legend. So loved, so missed. R.I.P . SRV.
When it comes to Stevie Ray, the first thing you said says it all..."Oh, my freaking God".
Stevie ray vaughn was a best he has a lot of good songs
He worked for decades to get that talent his older brother Jimmy who plays lead guitarist for The Fabulous Thunderbirds said when they were little Stevie would play until he shreds of calluses off of his fingers and then he can crazy glue and back on and keep right on practicing that's how it gets that good
