This summer in Tokyo was mostly without rain and nature suffered. Birds were more difficult to encounter. This video shows the situation near a river in the Tokyo-Yokohama megalopole concerning birds, flora, and insects.

Thank you for the beautiful and peaceful pictures. As always, it was a great pleasure watching your video. As you know, in my videos I try to avoid the "scientific" view of nature as much as possible and focus on pure awareness. After spending my entire life defining nature, I have discovered that human categorization prevents uninterrupted contact with nature. And yet, I love the videos that provide information about the species. And so I am grateful for your videos, which combine beautiful moments with helpful knowledge.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Before I wrote less. Then I got in the habit of watching at least 2 channels that you also watch: Hoidog1 and Gutumoto and they both provide a discreet information at the bottom of the videos for each species. I learn a lot with them and try to learn to differentiate species but it’s hard work.
I also would prefer an immersive into nature but it seems that somehow names are expected. Before I skipped the scientific names and was told off. So I comply!

This kingfisher fortunately is not difficult to find if there is water and shrimps or small fish but we had 2 months of heat and no rain except today with a typhoon. Kingfishers and other birds do need water. Summer Tokyo is not the best time for birds so we all hope October will be more productive. Best wishes for the weekend !

Hello 👋 ! How very kind of you ! I dare say that near a river like that one in season there are many little lives of different aspects that coexist not always peacefully ! It is often that the bigger ones eat the smaller ones but not always. Nature is full of surprises and in fact the bigger danger to all those little lives come from overbuilding or chopping trees unnecessarily. Good evening! I'm very happy that I found a lot of them this time, even though the weather was bad! It's difficult because there are many red dragonfly friends and they look alike. The first three are the Mayutate Akane, and the ♂ has its tail tip up. Females sometimes have black wing tips. Both have two black dots on their faces that look like pig snouts. I think that many of the dragonflies were flying. The fruit that turned into a tree may be yuzu. Also, please take a lot of kinds and show me next time! I look forward to it every time.

Hello 👋 ! Thank you for believing it: it honestly depends on where you find yourself. Tokyo center is mostly concrete and high rise but even there you can find nature and birds! It’s so huge that a few spots are spared and nature remains as best it can. There are many nature lovers in Tokyo who manage to find unsuspected places for nature. Otherwise it would be really bleak. It's always lovely to compare our flora and fauna and your video has many beautiful examples of Japanese plants and wildlife, so well captured. Wonderful to see a Turtle Dove, so rare here now and that little lizard was adorable. Boy can those Cicadas make themselves heard! Thank you Patricia, looking forward to your next production.
Hello What a pleasure to read you! Indeed those cicadas make a real racket which drowns the noise from the surrounding gigantic city. Weeds are also welcome for birds and lots of insects. The turtle dove is indeed nice. It lives in woods and recently couldn’t be seen anywhere. During our endless heat they probably went to the nearby mountains.
The Japanese lizard has a very long tail. It was the first time I saw one curled on a leaf.

The UK is always amazing with all its many birds in spite of more and more population: I find it amazing and wished the Japanese could take example.

Thank you! I went out early yesterday but sadly it was misty and the mist didn’t lift until after midday. Very atmospheric but not great for seeing the birds. I’ll have to see what I can make of the footage but I’m not at home at the moment. Good luck with your next adventure.
