Wahoo!! Just made a smooth and minimally wobbly bias bound armhole. Hoping the v-neck turns out as nicely thanks to your tutorial :)

At 6:12 you said we could do one less fold than you're doing and have a visible accent. Unfortunately I've come to that point and realize that I'm going to have to stitch a second time over the first stitch line leaving both visible. Is there another method you would recommend to avoid that?

Marci Forbes you could instead start with the bias tape on the wrong side of the garment. So your final stitch would be folding over and topstitching on the right side. With the double stitch visible on the wrong side. But also if you aren’t folding anything to the inside the under stitching really isn’t necessary (it helps pull everything to the inside so it isn’t visible from the front). You could just skip that step and give the bias tape a good press away from the garment for a crisp edge then fold and stitch down for one line of stitching.

What was the tailor's thing you used to iron the armhole at the end? I did not get the second word. Thank you.

Thank you for the easy to follow instructions. I am a complete novice and only started a sewing class about a month or so ago 😏.

The ones I bought have no stretch, is that ok?

The bias tape? Most do not have stretch in the actual fabric, but do to the nature of being cut on the bias, they have some give that help to be smooth around the curved edge!

There are 2 kinds of folded tape, one is bias, one is a straight grain tape, the bias is for doing curves and allowing some give to the turning of the tape. The other is for just straight seam. When you use the bias tape on curves, as Amy demonstrated, please clip your curves (without clipping through your stitches) before you turn your bias tape and stitch it down. It will lay much smother.
