Fantastic job, and episode. My brother is a Tesla owner, and he was shocked when I informed him that wasn't Tesla's door handle idea over 3 years ago! You're looking good on your project, I know you're ready to cruise right now!
Wow!! This is going to be a much more ambitious build than I originally thought when I saw you start this project. My bench bucket seat and exhaust will be done by Spring and I'll be on the road. I assume you're planning on 2024.
Lots of ambition, limited by skills and funds...lol. Not sure if we have a target date yet, it will be done when it is done I guess. Thanks for watching!
Looks great!! Didn’t think it would look or function as well as planned but you proved me wrong, can’t wait to see the lock on the driver side hahahaha
Thank you my friend. I am of the belief that locks only keep honest people out...if they want in they will get in, only takes a good sized rock and a window. LOL. Thanks for watching!
Love your custom handles. I have a 64 falcon and have to design another pivot system to change from a horizontal movement to a verticle movement for the latch rod, but now I have a starting point. Thanks for the great vid. Btw, you ever catch your trash can on fire welding so close? I did once. Only once. Lol
I’m glad that you have some ideas for your Falcon. Good luck with your project! I have set the trash on fire once and myself on fire more times than I can count. LOL. Thanks for watching!
I've started on your idea for my 1972 Chevelle. I have the housings welded. Now it's time to cut the handles. I'm using aluminum since I can cut it on my bandsaw. Can you provide measurements for the pivot point? I'd be glad to provide pictures of my progress if you would like them. Thanks so much.
I honestly just enlarged the drawings to the size that looked good and then cut out the handle shape from the paper for a template. I put that on the handle material and drilled through the template. I didn’t measure out the mounting points.
I haven’t painted it yet, but I can remove the bolts and pull it apart while in the car. I suppose you could use a pin with a cotter pin to make it easier to remove.
Ok I love the idea and how easy it was to make. Buuuuut one fatal flaw! If it rains when you drive or if it's outside or if you wash it, you will get water down inside your door. Then comes rust and a door rusted out. If you have a fix for that , I'll be waiting. Love the video though.
The inside of the door is not a dry area to begin with. That’s why there are vapor barriers under the door panels and drains in the bottom of the doors. The doors rust out when the drains are plugged and debris build up. Keep the drains clear and your doors will be fine.
Haha fellow engineer...not yet recovering perhaps but enjoyed your presentations. I am doing a restomod on an 89 bronco, no film though. Too bad you are not getting more views it is very informative.
Not sure I would ever be efficient enough to make it a business...lol. Hopefully it will inspire folks to try something creative for their applications. Thanks for watching!
This is really creative and well done! I love flush handles done right, but I’ve seen the kin dig handles on so many custom cars that it’s not even the price for me it’s just not original any more
*Wow, I did not expect it to come out that clean, great how to video!*
Thanks so much, pretty pumped about them. Thanks for watching!
Watched a couple of your videos now. I like the cut of your jib. Subscribed. Dig the Bushwood Country Club hat tool.
Thanks so much my friend! We will keep them coming.

Great achievement 👏👏
Thanks!
Beautiful job! Bravo !
Thanks so much! It was worth the savings - at least for me.
A port-a-band was the most useful tool I ever got. The noise reduction alone is worth the cost.
Ill have to look into that. Thanks for watching!
Please get a cardio checkup. That dyspnea can be serious. We wanna you healthy and well to proceed with this amazing El camino build. 🙏🙏🙏
I'm up to date on all my physicals, getting old and fat has its drawbacks! lol.
@@letsgetdirtygarage6197 we all are... 🤣😂

Thank you!
Great job👍, do you still have the link or drawing?
Do a google search for patent number US3508778A and US3528695A. Those are the GM drawings I referenced. Good Luck!

After you painted your car, how did you keep the paint out of the mechanism to keep it from sticking?
Is the door handle serviceable from the inside of the door?
I’d be glad to send you some pictures of how I did the job.

Welcome back
Do you have a link to the patent? Thanks. I plan to do this. I already have the materials.
Great!
Cheers from Sweden ☺
Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully it is warmer there than it is here...LOL.

Thanks so much and good luck with your project! Broncos are all the rage right now.
What is the patent number?
Wow!!! Just awesome!! How much for a set lol

I found your answer. Thank you.

Glad you found it my friend. Good luck with yours! Let me know how they turn out. Thanks for watching!!
