The Linguistics talk makes me happy. Humans have a Universal Grammar(UG) which is the language faculty in our brain. When we are born, we're able to make every possible sound in the world, but our environment causes us to lose most sounds and focus only on the language/noises we're exposed to. Cows and other animals do not have a UG and their vocal folds are limited to only the sounds they're biologically able to produce. Hope that helps! Love from Montreal!

I can't think of anything to comment, so here's a cinnamon roll recipe:
Ingredients
For the Dough:
1 cup whole milk
one 1/4-ounce packet active dry yeast (2 1/2 teaspoons)
1/4 cup plus 1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus more for the bowl
1 large egg yolk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more if needed
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
For the Filling:
All-purpose flour, for dusting
12 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, plus more for the pan
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
For the Glaze:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup heavy cream
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Directions
Make the dough: Warm the milk in a medium saucepan over low heat until it reaches about 100. Remove from the heat and sprinkle in the yeast and 1/4 teaspoon sugar (don't stir). Set aside until foamy, 5 minutes. Whisk in the melted butter, egg yolk and vanilla.
Whisk the flour, the remaining 1/4 cup sugar, the salt and nutmeg in the bowl of a stand mixer. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix on low speed with the dough hook until thick and slightly sticky. Knead on medium speed until the dough gathers around the hook, 6 minutes. (Add up to 2 more tablespoons flour if necessary.)
Remove the dough and shape into a ball. Butter the mixer bowl and return the dough to the bowl, turning to coat with butter. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled, 1 hour 15 minutes.
Roll out the dough, fill and cut into buns (see instructions below). Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking pan; place the buns cut-side down in the pan, leaving space between each. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled, 40 minutes. Preheat the oven to 325.
Bake the buns until golden brown, about 35 minutes. Cool in the pan 15 minutes. Meanwhile, make the glaze: Sift the confectioners' sugar into a bowl, then whisk in the cream and melted butter. Transfer the buns to a rack and spoon the glaze on top while still warm.
How to Form Cinnamon Buns
1. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a 12-by-14-inch rectangle with the longer side facing you.
2. Spread with the softened butter, leaving a 1/2-inch border on the far long edge. Mix the sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the butter.
3. Brush the unbuttered far edge with water. Roll the dough away from you into a tight cylinder and press on the long edge to seal.
4. Cut the cylinder with a sharp knife to make 6 equal-size buns.....

First of all, I love how serious they are about the whole animal not being able to speak thing, because relatable. Me and my friends take random topics way too seriously too, and discuss them for ages, haha. But to be completely honest, I think all different animals and humans all speak the same language, just in different ways, and its been made this way to make it harder for us but for someone to one day realise, by faith, that we are all one on this earth and we should work together, not against each other. Different races and ethnicities in humans, are like different types of animals, we all kind of belong to the same species, we're just different, but still one. x

Animals don't make other animal noises because they're not clever enough 😂 and they don't have developed enough vocal chords. there are some exceptions eg the lyre bird

Alfie I study linguistics and to answer your question, animals don't have "language". They have basic communication but it's not classified as language so they don't do niche things like imitating. Birds imitate because it's part of their hunting/mating instincts but others don't because there is no basic need for imitation
Also our vocal tracts are much different because we are upright which allows us to have evolved for complex language

You don't know if they put the Guinea pigs on the grass, you see 20 minutes of the day.
This time of year it's too cold for Guinea pigs to be outside anyway. I used to have a Guinea pig rescue centre so I do know what I'm talking about
+Binkyingbunnies 🐇🐰 People don't let their dogs off lead for lots of reasons. E.g. I don't let my dog off in places where there might be other dogs because she's dog aggressive and has poor recall. It might be that Nala has poor recall and in a public space all dogs should be kept on leads unless you know for sure that they will come back to you when you need them to. Imagine if she ran up to a big dog on lead and it was aggressive, she'd last 2 seconds, so really they are being smart by buying her that long lead to allow her to run around
Rae-Anne Elson i understand but you can train any dog and no matter what age, and one of the things people should train them is that, recall! I know the lead is huge but its not the same !! You see how she comes when they call her!? And Martha was allowed off so it wasn't 'all dogs on lead' area !
Every public space is an all dogs on lead area unless you can call your dog back. And yes recall can be trained but some dogs don't always come back if they want to go and see another dog. I'm just saying that there are reasons why people don't let off their dogs, its not always being over protective.
