You have shot that Canis straight to the top of “my next to acquire” list! I’m primarily a budget knife collector but that knife is a must own in my eyes.
Its so good, a bit on the pricey side but built to last. The hollow grind will work really well with an occasional strop. Do let me know if you get it, if you so wish
I love the quote “internal mental gymnastics.” 😂 I have this same internal debate when I’m trying to figure out what I’ll carry each day. Merry Christmas. Great content. Keep it going.
Yea that is something that we do in everything but the knife buying/choosing game really brings it up a lot more. Anyhow likewise to you, thanks a lot and have a great xmas 🎄
You have such a killer collection that would have been tough to pick just 5. Nice to see the bel air got a mention but I was surprised neither of your s90v pyrites got mentioned. But I’m a sucker for nice pyrites. It’s the one that got me into knives. Nice list though, good video as always and thanks again for making them. Merry Christmas from California
Thanks man, much appreciated. And yea it really was, its kinda arbitrary as that list could be shuffled so many times and it would still be top 5, I just had to go for it fast and stick with it lol, like I said in the video. Yea now that you mentioned it the S90V stuff didnt really make much of an appearance. Oh well, things will be updated as time moves on. Pyrites are amazing, and I could easily see how you could be drawn in by one. That S90V bowie pyrite perhaps could have been there but thats the issue with having to choose 😅. Same to you bud, seasons greetings from the Far East , all the best
I want to like my Shark Cub, but the shark lock ledge/access bar or whatever you want to call it is genuinely miserable to use out of the box. It's fixable on my end, but obviously it's fixable on Demko's end too, and they charge enough that it should come out of the box with a better design. For me I think my overall favorite for 2024 was the WE Praxis. I am pretty heavily biased towards USA-made knives; almost every other knife in my top 10 would be USA-made other than maybe the Militaw. But the Praxis was the knife that got me into the hobby and remains the knife standard I compare every single folding knife against. Getting a premium version has made it timeless for me. When I first saw how they added thumb studs and made it a frame lock, I really didn't think I'd like it because I trusted the original design so much, but as soon as it actually wound up in my hand I realized they really did just make it even better. They even improved the blade geometry. Not sure if you've handled it yourself (or the Civivi versions of the Praxis), but listening to you talk about how you've come to appreciate how important weight and thickness are to how satisfying a knife is to carry, I really think you'd be impressed with the WE version of the Praxis. I've never come across a "large" knife that carries as well as it does. At any rate, thanks for the video and Merry Christmas! Here's to a slicey 2025!
Hey there, no I havent handled the Praxis at all, in its Civivi or We forms. Im sure its a great knife, as many of their models are, when they dont go too over the top with the adornments. Im surprisingly lacking with Civivi knives, but thats not an issue as I would like to chill a bit more this coming year with the knife collecting. I have two WE knives which are the Ziffius, absolutely love this one because its a huge wharncliffe that once again has some good weight reduction going on despite the size, although the Spyderco Canis in this video has its number every time. Getting it (the Ziffius) when it was half price was good as well because its quite expensive otherwise. My other is the Kitefin with black and gold accents, the button lock variant. Hoping that the superlock or variations of it starts being used a lot more also. Regarding the Shark cub fin, yea it is misery when you first get it, it was my first shark lock as well and it hurt so badly that I had to put it away for a bit. After using an AD20.5 for a while which I got a few weeks later, it got a lot better and less agonising than before and ithe spring lost some tension with more opening and closing anyhow could go on but I wont, already written a lot lol. Thanks for the wish, all the best to you and hope you had a great Christmas. Sharp new year coming up for us all ⚔
I got the Hectare for Christmas. The thumb hole access does kinda suck, but it’s a beautiful knife. It’s going to fight the Bel Air for daily carry duty.
Yea the thumb hole doesnt work at all, even difficult for slow rolling it. Good knife to brush up on your. reverse flicking practice lol, really the best way to get it open quickly apart from using the crossbar lock. Glad you like it though, its a beautiful knife that I love to pair with the Bel Air, so yea you have two very nice choices to pick from every day 👍
Thats the Bestech Slasher, knife centre exclusive in Magnacut and marbled carbon fibre. They are still in stock so would highly recommend one as they are going for 135usd.
If you are anywhere in S.E Asia then there can be a markup sure, not as bad as places like Australia which are awful, but no for ones made in China at all. For U.S ones I just have someone ship them for me which just includes his commission fee. Try and reserve that for really special things like exclusives and sudden sales/lynch or flytanium. Anything that doesnt ship outside the states. But yea you dont buy knives where I am, just ship them in. That was an interesting guess, what made you think of that country?
@@fl9667 No very good guess actually, someones a bit more well travelled. Yea its in a former Indochine country, never gone out of my way to be explicit about it but in some of my outdoor shorts or videos there are tons of clues
@@Archetype_EDC ah i see. Sorry didnt mean to deviate from knives stuff. I hope all happiness for you sir no matter where you are. Keep on being awesome
@@fl9667 No not at all, I talk with people about all kinds of things because knife chat can get repetitive sometimes and I would like to talk about more varied material in the videos but I cant. Feel free to ask anything (more or less lol) Thankyou though, and likewise same for you

The Shark cub is a beautiful knife, compact and slicey.
The only thing i would like to change:
I want a thumb stud slicer with this blade shape.
Not slicey enough for me personally on a knife that small. Still 70 percent thinner than the 20.5 though. Holy sharpened pry bar!!!
My dlc shark cub is my fav knife of all time, it’s so good
Yea its just so nice, that was an easy choice to put in my top 5. Carrying it today as well
Your collection is very, very nice. Merry Christmas!
Fantastic collection!
Thankyou kindly 👍
