Great video. I’ve done the Gap ride a few times. The views are stunning on a dry day and the descent from the Gap down to the field is great but you need a full sus bike. Glad you enjoyed 👍🏼
@@CycleXplorer I would also recommend doing it earlier in the year so the vegetation doesn’t hamper you on the climb and it might be a bit drier for you😂 🤞🏼
Yes it was pretty rocky, for some reason I thought it would be more gravelly. I do like the look of the Taff Trail, which goes from Cardiff to Brecon. One for the future.
Love this part of the world. Pontiscill is 'pont-sticketh' ... have holidayed there a few times! Also have family in Llanfrynach! Looks like hard work on those mountain paths, fair play! Agree e-bike is the way to go 😅
@@CycleXplorer Not ventured there (but my folks have) and have been to the Red Cow Inn a lot! 😄 They do e-bike hire from the Butchers Arms and I was sorely tempted the last time we went with my family (but they don't really do bikes!)
Some lovely views
It was amazing up there. The day after was a lot more cloudy!
Love the view 😍
It was amazing 🏔️
Fantastic views, would like to try this ride myself in the near future.
It's a great route I'm sure you'd love it
The fire road and canal path looked do-able, for me! 😂
Forest Velo goes extreme
Crikey! They are some stunning views
There were some amazing views from the top

Thank you. I think I underestimated The Gap slightly and would like to do it again on a full sus bike, with a little less air in the tyres!

@@ieuanwilliams8148 thanks for the tips!
Great little route 👍 looked a bit challenging in places 😬😅

@CycleXplorer will have a look at the taff trail cheers
@@Foxtrottangoabc think it's 55 miles so could be a nice out and back route!
@@CycleXplorer sounds like a great idea , a quick wizz round the Brecon Gap than back to Cardiff 🙂
🤣 your bog leg. Nice views . X
Bog monster. Do you think you might do the Gap
I think I might! 22miles doesn’t seem that hard but it sure does look challenging.
Did you buy any Welsh cakes? X
@@Laura-dv6cb go for it. No but I had one in a tea room just off the route
@@Laura-dv6cb you will love it. We had one in a cafe but didn't buy any on this visit to the Brecon Beacons and the gap
Thanks for this. I had planned a chilled gravel week in Wales next year, with this route. I now know to avoid it. Not what I was looking for.
Yeah this wasn't relaxed 😂 however the bits of the Taff trail were great. I'd look into that if I were you.

We love going there! Thanks for the tips on pronunciation 😊 you've probably been to the Old Barn Tea Room then 😅

@@jadeellis388 haha. We went to go to the red cow but they didn't do food that night. We went to the Aberglais, was good.
Great video! Gave a real world view of the route. Also, you butchering the place names made me chuckle, but we welcome your attempt man. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Haha thanks, I gave it a go! Lovely part of the world of you live there.
I rode this route a few weeks ago on my gravel bike, it was insanely hard and managed to destroy a carbon wheel in the process lol
@@leestephenson4083 I can only imagine how bone shakingly bumpy it was!
What happened to the wheel?
You went full bogleg, never go full bogleg
You'll be going up there one day. Maybe. Great British Divide 2026?
