Dark Souls if we keep limitations out, is by far easier due to one simple fact(The way the games were meant to be played.). It's slower, every dodge and action you do in DMC is similar to DS but you need faster reflexes, not just that, DS is an RPG, you can make it far easier by just having a decent build which is very easy to do in DS1 and most souls games. You can't do that in DMC. Limitations you could also do Hell and Hell, SS Rank only, no upgrades or skills bought as well or used as well. Hell you could do that with no weapons at all and just royal guard which is already a tighter blocking system than DS's, hell it's got frames as tight as it's parry mechanic. It's much easier to counter an attack that will one shot you than in DMC, the attacks are slower, there are less enemies to begin with in DS that also have far wider tells. Let alone all the ways you can easily break a souls game with again, builds that are natural parts to the game. Hell magic has been broken in nearly every entry, you've also got co op multiplayer to help make things easier for folks. None of these options to make things easier on a souls run, first or not, are available to someone whose playing DMC.

Full Screen mode was available on day one for the PC release, however is was activated with Alt + Enter, but yeah, sure it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the settings.
@Kuuhazan Not really. He is fully playable in BP, to the same extent of his abilities as Dante is. Compare it to using Dante during DG or Vergil in the Arkham fight with the very limited moveset. So yeah, it literally is coop multiplayer now and not just a gimmick with gimped functionality.

It's crazy to think that this kind of gameplay was released on a PS2 back in 2005! DMC3 has been way ahead of its time! And that's why this game still holds up, even though the graphics are not the best. I'm also impressed by the character models in this game! Again, a PS2 title. In DMC 1 and 2, you can clearly see and feel the age of those games. They feel very outdated. DMC.3 not. It looks like Capcom pushed the PS2 with DMC 3 to the absolute limit!
Ryuhei Kitamura is one of the best action director's. Capcom needs to adapt their properties on the silver screen. I mean it seems like a no brainer. Dante is basically just a superhuman Ash.
Damn, you guys on the comments are extremely harsh, they are tech reviewers not game masters, their task Is to evaluate the tecnichals aspects of how these games are displayed, not played
Pre rendered cutscenes is the only way to see original ps2 graphics. HD is missing some effects like blur, dof, And the most important - Dante's hair. And the upscaled textures are awful. Especially the eye in m20.
I know I do. Highly unlikely it’ll happen though. 2 and 3 relied heavily on the PS2’s pressure sensitive buttons, which the PS4 and literally every console this generation is lacking. It’s why MGS4 was removed from PSNow when that service first started. Half of the actions in that game were made impossible by the lack of pressure sensitive buttons. The Xbox 360 ports had an altered control scheme which assigned the pressure-based actions to the analog stick buttons but it was REALLY rough. It worked but it was incredibly awkward.
Thomas Mcmullan Hey, like I said, the Xbox 360 port used a different control scheme to work around it so it’s clearly possible, so never say never! I just don’t think Konami want to put in the effort right now!
Very nice port with some flaws.. Thinking if getting this for the Switch.. Seems like a good game that I can jump in and out of occasionally.. Plus that freestyle mode and the co-op mode is nice touches..

While it would be good, I played it a few years ago on ps3 and didnt looked too dated so i dont know if it's really necessary. For some reason I dont like the extra realism of the RE engine for devil may cry characters
Its not only graphics I have in mind, more like the super awesome rethinking of gameplay (or more like game flow) that had be hooked in re2. Imagine them updating (what is still a great great gameplay game) with some modern twists
3:45 I think this can be bypassed with the config menu, which is at least better than the REmake 1 HD port which is fixed with an internal resolution of 1920x1440p no matter what you do.
2:40 What? My PC copy runs just fine and in full screen mode. To be fair, this might be a windows 10 problem but when I played it back on XP and 7, it ran flawlessly.
heavily doubt the game could run flawlessly. without the bug fixes mod, my i5 6600k and 970 still cant run the game with music on and have a constant 60fps. you can give it a go and put a fps counter on to see how it actually runs. for mission 2 boss fight, the game could still drop to the low 40s in frame rate.
@@DongsMBM Like I said, this is probably a modern hardware/OS issue. The game ran perfect at 60fps back in the day. I'll maybe run some tests on my 3 different machines (XP/7/10) to see at what point does the game break.
The Freestyle is awesome! Yes now I notice that the hair doesn’t have any life is just one big toy 🧸 wig that plugs in dantes and Vergil head . Still I’m enjoying playing thrue it.
Nothing about this games cinematics (at least shown here) were impossible to get running in real time on PS2 hardware. Ever played the later Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter titles on PS2? They got away with a lot at up to 60FPS on original PS2 hardware. Aside from real time replays in Gran Turismo that were both technically impressive and visually realistic there's not too much I can think of from last gen that real blew my mind. Haven: Call of The King was pretty impressive technically speaking more on the back end though. That just means that there were better looking games, but not many games during that generation tried doing as much as Haven actually did. That opening scene is still quite impressive given the era and the fact that the whole planet is a level in the game.
The issue is that the combat engine alone used up a fair chunk of the PS2's power. The original release would have had Freestyle mode had it not been for the PS2's low RAM.
@@supersbbrawl4ever That's strange especially considering you could Switch between any gun in Ratchet and Clank or deal with hoards diverse enemies in both R&C or J&D and all Jak and Daxter games took place in an open world with 2 and 3 having full on ragdoll physics rapid transportation via vehicles and full ToD system. Every cinematic in Jak and Daxter were very clearly real time. There was a very cool bug that paused all important characters in cinematics when you pull the disc out of the PS2 during their playback which also allowed you to see the world and NPCs in background are still very much moving around in 3D space even interacting with player character and NPCs in the animation. In Ratchet Deadlocked you could be dealing with literally 200 characters on screen each one being blown apart with 8 or 9 of your own diverse weapons fending them off. The PS2's FPS tumbles down pretty hard but it was very impressive to see nonetheless.
@@VariantAEC It's simply because much of the work in DMC3 has been put into the combat system. There's a reason why DMC3's combat system has aged ridiculously well even by today's standards, and the fact that it is still one of the best in 2020. No PS2 game had a combat system with even a fraction of depth that DMC3 had, and Ratchet & Clank is no exception. You're talking about literally being able to switch between weapons instantly mid-combo, and there's also the fact that the 4 styles have plenty of depth, especially Swordmaster and Gunslinger. Trying to swap between 4 styles at once, and also having all 5 guns and 5 devil arms on hand, was far too much for the PS2's RAM to handle.
@@supersbbrawl4ever You say this so surely with no knowledge about why the combat system would be stealing resources from GPU specific tasks. Remember 2005 was a time when GPU compute was just starting to gestate. Additionally plenty of PS2 games had very complicated combat systems and this didn't impact graphics. I didn't play many fighters or smash-em up type games so no names come to mind but plenty of technically impressive looking unfortunately nameless software comes to mind.
@@theneedforspeeder9575 I like Bayonetta 2 (Bayonetta 1 is much more flawed in its design) well enough, but it really can't compete with the best Devil May Cry games.
@Fiklm Lmfao, fanboy. When Bayo 2 came out, DMC4 Dante was still universally considered to be the deepest character mechanically in the genre. Hell, even DMC3 Dante w/Style Switching wins. Bayonetta is stuck with dial-a-combos which doesn't make it as freeform as DMC3-5's and also has QTEs, which is a shit feature in the hack n slash genre. Sure, it has better platforming and traversal mechanics, but DMC is still the undisputed king in terms of combat mechanics.
Really not talking about how the in engine cutscenes just expand what you see instead of adjusting the FOV? Cause they were original 16 by 9 with black bars to fill a 4 by 3 frame. Now it's 21 by 9 with black bars filling a 16 by 9 display. They should have adjusted the FOV and gotten rid of the black bars
Hmmm looks like a good version. That said, i'll stick to the ps3 hd collection. The newer versions dont bring enough new stuff to warrant a second purchase
I guess it depends on the person. If your not super into handheld gaming, then maybe with the minor new features DMC3 switch offers isn’t enough to justify a second purchase

@@Stublyme You can't button mash DMC1, 3, 4 or 5. You'll get ass blasted. My 10 year old nephew has beaten over half the first dark souls, yet hasn't been able to beat Goliath yet.
This Port Is Amazing 🙌🏿If Only We Had a PS2 Mini With All The Best Games On It Running At 1080p 60fps 😮💨I’ve Never Played a DMC Game But I Do Have Every Switch Port 🤷🏿♂️

The Free Style mode is really great and changes the game a lot. It's more than just switching styles, you also get access to every weapon at once during gameplay, instead of just two of each type. I don't think there's any PC mod that lets you do that.
Style switcher mod does that
There has been one for almost a decade, actually.
Unfortunate that the messed up alpha effects on dante and vergils hair still persist on this remaster as well
Full Screen mode was available on day one for the PC release, however is was activated with Alt + Enter, but yeah, sure it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the settings.
Idk how people still dont try alt enter in any game lol its like a default keybind
This port having the first multiplayer DMC experience is really something else, hoping it's a step for DMC5
@Kuuhazan While technically correct, that's more like a gimmick and not an actual multiplayer coop mode.
I've been playing this game since the ps2 era
and bought the hd collection on ps3
The Switch version might be the best one because of the new features added to the gameplay
iNando You can mod the PC version with the same style switcher and get proper PS2 like effects back as well, alongside the higher rez textures.

Dude, the show’s over.
why even bring up dark souls
They needed to make the video over 10 mins to get more ad money probably.
They should've compared it to something that has somewhat similar gameplay, like the Ninja Gaiden games, then they could've had a side rant about how they want Ninja Gaiden on switch! Although I can kind of see where they were coming from with the whole "gothic" look being like dark souls.
That most UA-camr gamers. LOL

I think hes talking of the Original DMC3 release on PC way back in the day.
Again... The Devil May Cry Triple Pack is available in Japan for Switch bundling all 3 games into 1 neat package.
Not sure why that comment needed to be removed originally.
the triple pack only has dmc1 on the cart with 2 and 3 as downloads
Not every game is like Dark Souls...
I feel like they re gonna release like a Devil May Cry collection on current gen.. I feel this stronger now. Honestly I would welcome this one my series x 😊
Oh man I would definitely like it if they did this for the rest of the consoles.
All of the cons don’t matter at all due to the fact that you have a portable DMC3 that runs at 60fps! 😂
Look up the UA-cam channel Catbus for an insane port report on this !
Ryuhei Kitamura is one of the best action director's. Capcom needs to adapt their properties on the silver screen. I mean it seems like a no brainer. Dante is basically just a superhuman Ash.
Shame you didn't compare the Switch with the original PS2 version. The graphical differences are vast.
VergilHilts indeed!
Yeah, like DMC1 a lot of stuff was messed up in the HD versions.

Dmc 5 for switch will be awesome
You compared a hack and slash spectacle fighter to a slow methodical action game; it's like comparing a musou to zelda.
Pre rendered cutscenes is the only way to see original ps2 graphics.
HD is missing some effects like blur, dof,
And the most important - Dante's hair.
And the upscaled textures are awful. Especially the eye in m20.
I think they fixed the eye in Mission 20. I went back to look at it and, even if the colors were off, it was a lot less pixel-y.
oof im here they smoothed it out, it does look better, but it’s still missing a ton of effects that were present on the PS2.

God dam who wants the mgs HD collection in the switch???!!!
@@deviltelletubbie wow I forgot all about that feature in the games ....dam hopes are destroyed now ....I'm crying inside my friend.

Imagine Capcom doing the Re2 treatment to this game. Holy my little devil how that would be amazing.

3:45 I think this can be bypassed with the config menu, which is at least better than the REmake 1 HD port which is fixed with an internal resolution of 1920x1440p no matter what you do.
it can, I play DMC3 at 1440p with that method
@@GTXDash Haha, you must've had the exact hardware setup they actually playtested or something, a lot of pc ports just ran really sloppily back then.

@Fahd Al Zarooni it's exactly the same except switch has more features.....

I didn't know DMC1 had styles.
3:00 typical console to PC port. Why is it so difficult for devs to get this right even to this day? Especially since they create the game on a pc?
Making a game ON PC doesn't equal to making a game FOR the PC.
Wait I could have sworn this was uploaded a while ago?
It was, but the previous version had an error.
They mistakenly said DMC3 was the only game available on Switch, when the the first two already were.
The Freestyle is awesome! Yes now I notice that the hair doesn’t have any life is just one big toy 🧸 wig that plugs in dantes and Vergil head . Still I’m enjoying playing thrue it.
I want the DMC Reboot on Switch
@@supersbbrawl4ever
That's strange especially considering you could Switch between any gun in Ratchet and Clank or deal with hoards diverse enemies in both R&C or J&D and all Jak and Daxter games took place in an open world with 2 and 3 having full on ragdoll physics rapid transportation via vehicles and full ToD system.
@@supersbbrawl4ever
You say this so surely with no knowledge about why the combat system would be stealing resources from GPU specific tasks.
@@VariantAEC And Ratchet and Clank? Where you literally open up a menu mid-game and select projectiles that has like one move each?

Next best thing? There isn't a Bayonetta game that comes close to being as good as DMC3 or DMC5.
ShaneC1991 I don’t know about that man. Both Bayonetta and dmc3 are great, but bayonetta has something more for me
@@theneedforspeeder9575 DMC3 arguably still has the better and deeper combat engine, especially with the Freestyle mode. Much more combat freedom too.
@Fiklm Hahahahahahahahahaha

Ninja Gaiden >> DMC >> Bayonetta >> god of bore
