Daryl Davis is another black man with an amazing KKK story (or stories) He converted over 200 KKK members into regular citizens just by talking to them and listening. Daryl went to rallies without the garbs on and did quite a bit, we don't hear much about him sadly.
The fact that David duke made friends with a black guy over the phone without actually knowing his real race is the best case against racism I've ever heard. Its also really funny.
You really should do a video on Daryl Davis. He's a black jazz musician who has played a key role in dismantling the KKK. He simply operated on one thought "a person can't hate me if they truly know me." He's an amazing person and is well worth the effort of a Thoughty2 video.
This is legit like a sitcom episode plot. Started off as a simple idea, there was a big complication where he had to lie heavily, and then everything worked out beyond all logic.
Imagine how awkward would have been if Ron asked Chuck to help him out infiltrate the Klan and Chuck responded like yeah no prob bro, I'm already a member
I’m part black and one of my ex girlfriend’s father was in the Klan, it was hilarious and sad at the same time how we had to hide our relationship from her family.
As a fundamental Christian, I can say with all confidence, kkk are NOT in any way shape or form Christians. Just because someone says they are Christians doesn't make them Christians. As Christians we are called to love EVERYONE, love the sinner, hate the sin. We can love people and still tell them they are on their way to hell. Not out of hate, but out of love, because we were all on our way there at one point. The only way out is accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and repent of your sins. Praying for anyone thats reads this! ❤
Technically the KKK and people like them sometimes believe that black people are not related to whites and whites are specially created. While obviously wrong (e.g how do mixed-race people work?), it means blacks technically don't count as human so that rule and others such as do not murder don't apply to them. It's stupid, but at least theologically self-consistent, if not consistent with reality.
The "only" black man to join the klan is not true. Daryl Davis attended klan meetings and made friends with a klan leader. Eventually the klan leader reevaluated his beliefs and sent Daryl his robes and retired from the klan. Quite a moving story actually.
Wow, I was in Colorado Springs in 72. I was 8 but my family was stationed there at that time. So cool to be that connected with history. Mega props to that cop, love it and him.
I saw another video on this, it's quite fascinating. At the end, the Klan leader said that he has more respect for that black man than anyone else. But he didn't leave because that's all he has known. He's done it for so long. Quite amazing.
@@irionuchiha3823I think they mean that it's more sad that the Klan leader was so deeply entrenched in white supremacy that he couldn't leave the KKK even though he knew it was wrong.
God damn this man was really just flexing on them. Taking pictures with them. Not caring about hiding his voice cause they're too stupid to ever notice. Carrying his membership card. So many things really makes this seem less like an investigation and more just an elaborate flex. So many minute details he did just to further flex on them. How can anyone not love this? This man is ingenious.
This happened so many times, most didn't get this far though. No doubt these great people will be listed in other comments. My favourite will always be Stetson Kennedy though, the clan was still massive when he stuck it to them and you could argue that's what started the mass membership decline. Though numbers had already started to decline. Plus..... more than anything has since it shows how something popular can be used for genuine good and world change.
Stetson Kennedy was great and he used his findings in a very interesting way. Radio was the mass medium of it's time, so him creating a series of audio plays was awesome. I read somewhere that even a high-ranking member of the Klan once complained that his kids were reenacting one of the audio plays when he came home, with Superman being victorious over the KKK-member.
I have neighbours like that , along with some of my landlords staff . The worst offender , hated himself to an early grave . He was the 2nd most complained about tenant on the books . His place has been taken by the new crop , ready for me to do battle with - I've just finished one , and the landlords staff , started another , while protecting one of their "secret employees" , that the rest of us aren't supposed to know about . It's unfortunate these people have taken the wrong path in life , only to hate themselves , above all others , into an early grave .
There's people alive today that are still doing it. It's called being woke. At least they aren't as violent just yet but these ideologies always seem to find a way.
I’m from Louisiana so sadly David Duke is still deeply rooted in our government dealings. There was a photo of me as a baby at a parade and Duke chose me out the crowd to give a little PR baby kiss to. When I learned of this I was LIVID AF and literally burned the evidence to ashes. This is genius! the guy is an absolute legend 😂😂 but the cross burning always confused me - surely that would be blasphemous as its the symbol of Christianity - though quite why they wear a symbol to remember the way their messiah was killed in the first place is baffling too as Bill Hicks pointed out.
The burning cross thing was something which originated with the Scottish clans-- a man on horseback would ride through the countryside in times of trouble, carrying a burning wooden cross in hand, in order to rally the members of the clan to arms.
Wearing crosses, is to remember that Jesus died and paid the debt for our sins, it's a symbol of victory over death. But i have no idea why a christian would be part of this though!
The cross burnings first appeared in D. W. Griffith's "Birth of a Nation.' The film which made the KKK appear to be the heroes was popular amongst the KKK and prompted them to start the tradition of burning crosses. Before this movie, they didn't do cross burnings.
These two officers were the real deal. I just wish he had gotten a photograph taken of him actually arresting the wanna be wizard. That would have been truly priceless!
