If 3D printing would not exist people would start finding other means, like silicone moulds or therelike. All GW needed to do is to not be full of crap and they would keep their cash flow going is what I am trying to say
That letter they dropped saying "You wont be missed" was my moment of clarity. Now I have multiple 3D printers running nearly full time to sell minis at @0.50c each. I move probably 600-800 models a week. I know I could charge way more but the fact that I am supplying peoples entire collections means that it is GW that wont be missed.
I did 3d printing, now I’m taking my GW sprues for my faction that I thankfully (out of laziness) haven’t touched yet and I’m gonna make molds for them and start casting brass models! Once I get my furnace I’m building in welding class done, I’ll have to post it somewhere!
My friends didn't get into Warhammer 40k until I brought them to a gaming shop that had people playing Warhammer on a regular basis, in 2003; Even though they regularly went to a store where they were sold. But I had known about the hobby since the mid-90s, and even brought up the idea to my friends a few times. I personally never got into buying any armies though, as I already had a Transformers Collecting hobby, which ate up most of my budget. Meanwhile, my friends have multiple armies, but have also complained about Rules changes; Which has caused them to slow down on the hobby. I still haven't asked them about their opinion of recent announcements...
Transformers are cool too! 😀 OnePageRules has alternative rules that are supposed to be a bit simpler to keep track of. Might be something they could look into. That, and they sell really cool 3d models!

High school kid, literally works for miniatures. And there's new AI models with infinite attention. So I'm going to set up a network of experts to run the business. Make it a digital autonomous corporation. Something something open source, something something take over the world.
3D printing has been a slowly waking giant for us mini enjoyers, but GW fans have still kept faithful to their models and books, using excess money they save to subscribe to wahammer + or buy models they just really like. Its a terrible shame they took advantage of that faith. The fans still love warhammer, they just wish GW did too.
I just started resin 3d printing for similar gw related reasons in the video. It's been great so far, the first 2 days I didn't print much, just a bunch of fails. Found a few good advice groups on reddit that really helped me to " dial in " my settings, I've been printing NPC's and bad guys for my dnd campaign that I'm a part of for the past week now. Cost wise it's amazing, the last hour or so of the print is the longest hour of my life but it's been super enjoyable working with Photon workshop. Great video!
Ya, those first few prints can be frustrating, that's for sure, but once you get it working it's one of the best feelings. Especially when your group is like, man I wish we had....blank.... And you are like, give me a couple hours, and bam, there you have your new big boss baddie, etc. Appreciate the comment!
Oh yeah with the clean up get methylated spirits it is much cheaper in most countries it is the same stuff it is used by decorators also can clean it out very easily by curring the liquid in a bottle or container it settles to the bottom the rest is clean :-)
love the video! the only improvement i have is set your audio to mono for your dub over. you probably have it in stereo and left channel only, so i can only here you in my left ear but the rest of the audio in both.
I want to try 3D printing but it seems hard. I had pla one and literally couldn't get the hang of it. Also resin is toxic af and I got nowhere to actually put my printer. Maybe I could build a shed and ventilate that up but then it goes full circle of its not easy. It would help massively for dnd campaigns and also just painting to learn tech on a mini that may have went bad.
I have a small Apartment . If I print something (Elegoo Mars2 Pro), then in the Kitchen when I'm at work or if it takes longer I start in the evening and let it run during the day. When I come home, I air out the Apartment (With a standing Fan facing the Window) and clean the finished Print (Collect the cleaning Water in a transparent Bucket and place it in the Sun for a few Days. Then the Resin hardens and you can strain it out). Btw Water-washable Resin doesn't smell so bad comparable with a freshly painted Door. 😁😁 I wasted 3 Years because I thought it's hard to find STL's and convert them to Print Codes until I bought a used Printer + Wash Station for less than a GW Starterbox. Since I know what can be printed from a Bottle of Resin, I can only shake my Head at GW's desired Prices. 🤗🤗 Where there's a will, there's a Way, just do it, maybe you're simply over thinking it too much like I did back then.
As the others have said, there are ways around it. For example, my printer is basically just next to a window with fans. It seems to work for me. I've also seen people make little enclosures for their printers with "filtration" type systems of fans and hoses. For the cleaning prints, I just use food storage buckets and alcohol I found on Amazon. My curing station is a bucket filled with UV led strips glued over reflective duct tape. I learned everything by just watching yt videos and reading stuff online. Everything takes a bit of setup, but once you have your process, it's not too bad. It's just almost a hobby of its own 😊. Some people like that aspect of it, others don't. But like @wakkru said where there's a will there's a way! If you need help, there seem to be lots of resources out there, and I'm sure anyone here would try to answer your questions too!
@@wakkru cant print in doors at all, I have an indoor cat. If I do get a 3D printer ill just build a shed outside and do it in that out of the way of my family and cat. How many minis would I even be able to actually do with a large bottle? It will all be for my DnD campaigns so most things will be standard height except bosses.
@@lilpain1997 I guess it also depends on how many Fails and how you Support. I also print a lot of 6mm Minis, but I would say Human or smaller sized about 75 and Multi-part Dragons or Monsters around 15 👋👋(calculated from 1L / 1 kg Bottle)
Unless, like me, you don't have a place to safely keep and use a 3D printer (small house, roommate with chemically-induced asthma, no garage) and your primary place to play is still the local Warhammer store.
I totally agree print your miniatures but if you want to show your distain for GW play Mantics games. They are better designed and their miniatures are available in STL format for you to print, or as printed models. The quality they produce is increasing constantly and they are usually around a third the price of GW. GW have consistenly shown their utter contempt for their fan base so we should reflect that right back at them. They have run their race and once they go belly up you can sell their miniatures at exhorbinant prices and buy real games.
I agree! I've always liked Mantic, just don't have any friends that play them, but even though I don't play them, I have supported almost all of their kickstarters, cuz I appreciate what they do. Also was a supporter of their monthly 3d model subscription from the beginning, up until recently when I stopped to save some money in this bad economy. Also recommend checking out Para-Bellum. They have a fairly new game, Conquest, that I think has pretty cool models. Lots of cool alternatives to GW

I started in 2020 after the price hike then I was done I only got I think one thing from GW since that was HH boxset (got it extra cheap as well) nice models and the books were good. Now I am no longer even getting audiobooks or lore any more I am done totally. I support several small and good sized creators and tbh most mdoels are as good or better than GW stuff as well as totally unique stuff some actual grimdark mud and blood look to them :-) Beastium Miniatures is one of my fav creators.

3D printing isn't the solution. Go put money in the pockets of other game companies that compete with GW. Besides, we all know how 'boycott GW' works- it'll be forgotten in a week or two, and the only people that will 'boycott' are guys who haven't bought anything in years anyway. Everyone whining about this will be right back at the slop-trough to gobble up whatever GW pushes out, no matter what the price tag is.
It might not be your solution, but it has worked for me going on 4 or so years now. I haven't spent any money with them since then. Also in regards to other companies, Mantic Games has been trying to court 3D printers for a bit now. They have a monthly subscription that gives alternative sculpts, weapons kits, and even their regular models. So that is a way to support another company, and still 3D print 😁

i literally bought a 3d printer because of this, but yea no one will go this route when a whole printer is priced at a start collecting box price. lol
