Doesn't mean he's better than anyone. It just means his skillset is that rare. If you watch Caleb play including what he did at USC and think there's been a bunch of QB's who could the same as him, then you're lying to yourself
I somewhat agree the term feels passe with the new crop of QBs. But also its a passing league now and the young QB prospects that know how to exploit that with their talents will do very well for years to come given they are put in a situation to excel.

Its not that people want him to fail. Hes being crowned too soon. Too much pressure to put on a young kid who was crying on his mom's lap 7 months ago. Bears have no idea what they're doing.

Yes, I do. In fact I think it's obvious, there is no doubt in my mind. I also think it's obvious that he will be the best QB the Bears have had in quite a long time. And how classless is it to rag on a guy for wanting to win so badly that not doing so is devastating? I understand you've never felt that strongly about anything in your life, but the fact that he does means he's there to win. Keep in mind I'm not a Bears fan. I'm just a guy who watches a lot of football and I know a good player when I see one.

I certainly didn't say that about Lawrence. People were entranced by his measureables and upside but honestly Lawrence was a disappointment in college and I'm not that surprised he's somewhat mediocre in the NFL.
As a long suffering Bears fan, I hope that THIS time we won't screw it up and ruin another QB prospect. I mean, we've got to get it right sooner or later, right? RIGHT???? Please? Oh, who am I kidding....
we don’t ruin qbs. they are shit to begin with. coaching is overrated. players pretty much develop themselves just like humans in every other endeavor. who developed you?

Who developed me? Regarding your question of who developed me: my parents, family, role-models, peers of course were all instrumental.

@@shake6321 Remember the term "talent is trainable" in sports. To be an elite champion level athlete in any sport, you NEED a combination of baseline talent and coaching/environment that lets you flourish. Fields and Trubisky didn't quite have the baseline talent, but they (Fields especially) were also not supported enough to do anything. Caleb clearly has the goods, but whether he will be a merely good qb or elite qb all comes down to the environment around him.
@@shake6321 Coaching is definitely not underrated. Its how special individuals get the most out of base line talent that they have and even make special ones look dominant. Thing is in comparison to actual QB'ing ability, Trubisky and Fields are nowhere near what Caleb has now in terms of the tools in his disposal as well with the pre-snap reads. Which should make those early down pass plays feel more consistent that the former two QBs never brought to the Bears.

He doesn't have one passing TD. Bagent has two. Rypien 3Td. Not sue about Austin Reed, but he can pass the ball deep and read defenses.

Watched this guy single handedly destroy my college team's hopes at an upset and a conference title run. His ability to scramble and find the receiver in the midst of the chaos is incredible. Every time I thought we had em stopped or that he could be sacked, he came through. Genuinely think CW is gonna be a stud. With the way the NFC is shaping up.... I personally feel the Bears have legit SB odds the next 5+ years.
Not a hater but until Caleb proves he can do it consistently from the pocket he hasn’t really shown anything.

lol. The ONLY reason so many of you doubt Williams will be great is 1: He was drafted to the Bears and 2. Because he’s a hyped prospect who’s been called generational.
Williams’ talent and tape shows he’s special. He needs to work on things like every rookie but the dude has it. Also, let’s stop this notion that every year a “generational talent” comes out of the draft. There were TWO guys in this draft deemed generational talents. Caleb and MHJ. Last year there was none. The year before there were none. In 2021 it was Lawrence, in 2020 some people said Burrow but it wasn’t consensus, there wasn’t one in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, or 2013. The last consensus guy to come out and be labeled generational before Lawrence was Luck. So stop this fallacy that every player that comes out and goes number 1 is labeled generational. They aren’t.
You make this assessment based on one quarter of play in the preseason?
Let's see how he does in the regular season after one season. In one season we will see Caleb's strength, weaknesses and what defenses throw at him.
Considering his amazing pre-snap vision, Caleb will do great against veteran DCs whose initial counter to him will be to throw blitzes. Plus he will have the receivers to throw when the heat is coming. I'd still consider it a success if he manages to recognize and adapt to really good DCs who throws exotic looks on late passing downs. Cuz I know none of the other QBs in his class are doing that well. Hell outside of the CJ Stroud the 2023 QB class still struggles to adapt to those looks.
Caleb is the greatest qb prospect of all time and for me, it's not close. Elway, luck, manning, and rodgers are the other contenders for that title but none of them are nearly the athlete caleb is, while caleb is just as good between the numbers and in structure
We will see when the run game is stuffed and has to throw to win

It’s crazy how similar the bears and Seahawks are built. The bears had a very clear plan for their QB this offseason and all I can do is give props 💯
Caleb Williams is a social media quarterback-nothing more, nothing less.
Bears' pass offense will be interesting to watch this season. Waldron in his last year with the Seahawks actually ranked near bottom in PA, played a load of 2/3TE personnel but usually got there via motion. From the look on the video PA numbers may be higher especially if all three Caleb's receiver targets are healthy all year long. Would be curious to see who would be the viable motion target as well.

Anyone can crown a guy after he already accomplished, but the REAL talent is seeing it BEFOREHAND and speaking up. Caleb is the real deal.
He is using arm talent. He is not playing with anticipation at all. He is seeing it and ripping it. That will not always work.
The only major difference between Fields and Williams is the scheme and personnel around them...meaning Chicago could have dropped down again this year and surrounded Fields with better talent than they're giving Williams, which is still better than anything Fields has gotten to work with.
Instead, the Steelers have another Slash. If you remember, Slash made it to the Super Bowl with the Steelers. Why? The scheming, coaching and talent around him. If you remember, Slash didn't do shit in Chicago. Why? The scheming, coaching and talent around him.

Jayden has a great 1-2 punch in McLaurin and Dotson. He also has a doofus of an OC in Kliff Kingsbury who has never schemed a great working pass game in his career. So while you yap about Caleb hitting roll out throws out with timing/velocity, you can expect Jayden to just keep running and hope he doesn't turn to a crash test dummy.

Not based on the results of a first preseason game, he isn’t.
the beas have no offensive line. weve seen this setup a zillion times. he will get sacked over and over. he will develop bad habits to compensate for the bad OL. he will get skittish and start making poor decisions a habit. finally he will end the year as pile of broken bones in the backfield.
Burrow didn't have an O-line when he went to the SB with the Bengals. He still subjectively has a weak O-line in comparison to other star QBs who have better guys protecting them. But that didn't stop Burrow and the passing game with 3 very talented receivers to put up points. Caleb's vision and mobility along with Moore, Odunze and Allen will make up for the shortcomings of this young Bears O-line group that is improving.

Buhahaha 😂 ahhhahahahaha. These flashy/viral play type players rarely make it big in pro sports. Steph, Mahomes, and Ali made it, but don't count it. Their play is pleasing to the eye, but it's the talented yet disciplined and efficient functional player that prevail. I do think Williams can be a very solid pro, tho.

Much of what the NFL tries to do now is make the college to pro pipeline a lot easier. But there is still a lot of structure and new foundations to learn at the college level that changes the game from the HS level. To add the conditioning is a vastly different experience jumping from HS to college and from college to pro. And some players who don't know their strengths say as edge rushers will stay in a 'successful' college program but will never have enough pass rushing reps on film to convince NFL scouts what their tools are. In part because the program's defense plays a philosophy to not win on defense via actual pass rushing. Which is why you still have guys like that get overlooked and probably land in pro situations that don't expect much out of them.

I been watching football since I was 9 years old the 08-09 season. The best QB I have seen on the Bears is Fields and Cutler 🫤 I honestly would like to see them as contenders. Chicago is a big market and they are in a historic division!
I'm not gonna say the Bears are going to the super bowl or some shit but I don't think there's any doubt that they'll have better QB play than they've had for quite a while.

IMO he's always had that quick pocket pass game if you watch his film and not his highlights. Its just not consistent because he didn't have amazing receiver help like Daniels or Penix had to bail them out. People are expecting to see Caleb's NFL games to look like an extension of his USC highlights. But with the better help he has on offense with the Bears roster he will have more consistent and boring early down passing scripts.

The most scariest thing about the bears going forward is that them and and the Texans are 2 of the Only teams in the entire league that have almost Filled in each position So uniquely that both sides of the ball have so much talent unbelievable weapons and 2 of the youngest most talented QBs we’ve ever seen and at least most of us thought the bears finally got it all right and now we see just how ELITE and they are in preseason still.
