FINALLY!! THREE FRICKING MONTHS WORKING ON THIS! It really wasn't suposed to take this long, school took a lot of my time sadly :c (and laziness too I have to be honest with myself lol). I wasn't gonna finish this because it was taking too long, but halloween is coming and I worked really hard on this so the hell with it. Also when all the drawings were done, the animatic just disappeared and I had to edit the whole thing again haha:")

mAN, I remember when I had like, 20-something subscribers before posting this animatic lol. You guys are insane! I might do a "Leave Luanne" animatic but I'm not sure yet. Edit: I took inspiration of another animatic in some scenes, it's in the description, just to clear out any questions :)

I like how direct this song is in possible interpretations:
The background chorus as the darker and forbidden thoughts Sara barely suppresses as they get louder and more prominent until the killings
The Father as the manifestation of her psychotic mind spiraling down further and further (strengthened by "some girls were rational, but Sara was not//her mind on a hinge (or smth, sorry)" up until she receives the world as the perfect prom, although she created a homicidal bloodbath

I love how you explained how Julie could have been last when she would have been the first target! That’s a perfect explanation to something the song doesn’t really explain or point out, and it must have been terrifying for Julie.
Just a thing I always like to bring up, does anyone notice that “What a bitch...” the male singer mutters after Julie called the cops?... like there was anything else the poor girl is supposed to do when faced with a mass murderer who definitely wants to kill her next?
StarryOak76 In general the comments given by the chorus/narrators (I.e., "PITY VOOOTE!") seems to suggest they take great pleasure in egging Sarah on to commit carnage, for all that I'm presuming they aren't meant to be actual characters. Probably a stretch but maybe they're meant to be anthropomorphic representations of Sarah's inner darkness or mental processes or such?

I really like the backup singers. They add to the slightly bitchy, catty vibe the whole song has and it’s just so delightfully macabre.
I think the main lyrics are to tell us the events and the parts the backup singers sing are meant to tell us what Sarah's thinking as the events occur.

I love how you had Sara in the beginning "hear" the rumors. She's one of the most popular people at her school, and would know what gossip is circulating around the students.
I love how this is the first animatic I saw that cared to put real worried messages from her boyfriend before he left for Julie.
This reminds me of Toddlers in Tiaras, but they are grown up and their parents are just as hard on them as they were when they where little kids. As a teen who has a natural pageant coming up next year, this low key scares me.

The Queen she likes 'em red ,If she saw white instead, She'd raise a fuss And each of us, Would quickly loose his head!," and the line about it in Melanie Martinez's mad hatter "We paint white roses red Each shade from a different person's head" and I love it so much
Other animatics of this have their own fair share of chilling shots, like one where there's a cinematic parallel between Sara's father brushing her hair and the authorities cutting her hair short while she's taken away in a straitjacket. Another one blinks between Sara's delusion of living her dream of being Prom Queen and being covered in her victims' blood with tattered clothes and hair. This one had me at "You got your crown, Sara."
The end with the ripped posters also is a good detail, bc it made me think of how when they reopen school, they’ll have had to have people take down all of Sarah’s posters. Like how traumatizing if they miss one spot of blood or one poster.
I love this animatic so much! I also love how instead of showing Julie from Sara's perspective like a lot of animatics do, she's terrified and scared. The dad also seems upbeat, which adds to the feeling that Sara may be twisting people's words inside her head.
This was so creative oh my god. No animatic have made me anxious before, but you created such a real atmosphere to the song. I loved the part with the shifting eyes at “but but” and I loved how Sarah walked around the school (blood on lockers) as it really put into perspective that Sarah has been terrorizing and taking her time, while the song makes all the killings so quick. Well done!!
Ive been borderline obsessed with this musical for like three years and this is without a doubt my favorite animatic for this song just every part of it was fantastic. i cant even IMAGINE the amount of time and work that went into this the detail and thought im just. mwah this was a joy to watch im gonna watch it 100 more times now thx

Through the whole second verse, the pacing, the fingernail-biting, lemme just say, this isn't the first Sara Berry animatic I've watched. But the boyfriend texting felt a whole new level of heart-wrenching. And then how the father sees how upset she is, doesn't even come in, and then she punches the wall, it's our first blood, wheee, and the blood fills the screen, and then how the girls die and you can see the prom dress, OH AND JULIE WAS IN THE LOCKER?? THAT'S SO CLEVER! Then how she's taken in by the police, Julie the poor bean is crying, and she has a mad grin on our face, and _how is her dad not in jail for child abuse,_ and this is so well done! But I just personally really dislike animatics that make Julie seem like the total villain
There was on that was well made but did this and it was a turn off for me

What a great animatic, I love it! Some animatics for this song focus more of Sara's pov, and so Julie ends up being sort of demonized or made into an antagonist, but I love the realistic approach you take her. Watching your video, it's very clear that Julie was just a girl. Like, that was obviously the intent of the song to be comedic and to put us in Sara's pov, but the way you portray everything feels much more grounded, and that makes this scarily real and equally tragic. Removing the 'What a bitch' line that makes this story so comedic suddenly makes it a lot sadder too, so I think that definitely helped.
Another thing I really like about your take on this song is the fact that you take time to build out the characters in a way I haven't really seen in other videos. When Sara gets the text from her boyfriend, you can clearly see all the other messages he sent before that, where he was clearly worried about and trying to check on her. The fact that Sara gave him a little pet name in her contacts also really sells the fact that she cared about him, and makes his understandable, but still painful decision to take Julie to prom instead all the more painful. The saddest part of this animatic to me is when you cut to him and Julie at the back of the ambulance after Sara's rampage, and you can clearly see how sad and shaken he is by what happened, like holy shit. The expression you drew for him that panel is totally perfect and was an absolute punch to the gut the first time I saw it, and still makes me emotional on rewatches. Great job!!
THANK YOUU! I really took my time thinking about the other characters lol.
What I did was that I imagined this as a movie, mostly with Sara's perspective but with Julie and her boyfriend too! Him and Julie get closer but the truth is that the boyfriend really misses Sara, she was a bully but he grew close to her and knew her dad and her friends sucked, even if she denied it. In the end he realised it wasn't fair (or safe lol) for him to stay with now-crazy-Sara and he just invites Julie instead and texts Sara (break up through text how dare he). Sara breaks down, murder happens, and she ends up in a mental hospital. And while Julie has quite some more traumas, she gained (a few) friends!
So yeaaaaa..I made a whole plot for this lol

This is so underrated. I think that the moment when the song goes “but, but” is perfect thanks to the animation of the eyes very fluid. Bravo to the author, it was really good, I would have loved to come across this animation when it was released. ❤❤
I actually feel bad for sara, she was being horribly pressured for prom queen cause her social status. and under that pressure she pushed the people she loved away only to have her friends leave her as well as her boyfriend, she lost her mind cause of this and no one stopped to care about her :[
omg i love this! the fact that the "vision" (idk how to phrase it) of her being prom queen was portrayed in red, which is also the color of blood is amazing :)) rlly just makes me think that to sara, murder was the *only* way to become prom queen.

Ok so Ann got bludgeoned with a bat so correct me if I'm wrong, but it takes quite a bit to kill someone like that. Like multiple strikes meaning Sara must've had something against that girl cause that seems like a pretty intimate way to kill someone.

Idea for sequel. Sara Bery 2. Sara's reprise. Ten years after her bloody rampage the survivors reunite for a reunion/memorial. Sara escapes from the asylum and makes her way back home. She kills her parents before the prom. Kills a few people during the prom. Definitely her boyfriend cause that's am important character death. In the final Sara tries to kill one-leg, there is a struggle. One-leg fights Sara off with her prostetic leg. Somehow a gun comes into play and one-leg crawls towards it. Sara lunges at one-leg with a knife, one-leg grabs the gun and turns around just in time to shoot Sara in the chest. Sara falls down and blood pours from the wound, enough to get the point across but not too gory. Sara smiles as she dies thinking she is queen again.
