Thanks for watching! Most of my big ones have come in the winter/early spring down there. Several being over 80lb. I'm hoping to get back in a couple weeks
Thanks for watching! 1st time there, make sure you have good mapping and pay close attention to the tides. There's giant mud flats where you can get stuck. Stay in the channels until you get familiar with the area. Gill nets help big time to load up on bait when they're scattered on the flats. Don't be afraid to fish shallow, like 2-5 ft. Fish are only that shallow for one reason, and it's to feed. I prefer an outgoing tide, and when the current becomes slack, keep baits in the water as long as possible. That's usually when most of the fish move, I've caught a bunch of jumbos during slack tide. It's definitely worth the trip!
I just accidentally erased your last comment. To answer your question, we launched out of Osborne boat ramp. It's not too far of a run to get to where we were fishing. I think there might be another boat ramp upstream from where we were but I'm not 100% sure.
Hello, I ask a question last year about going to the james river and you answered a lot my questions and I appreciate it , but I forgot to ask what mapping card do you use , I have humminbird 9 , I haven't been able to figure which card to get or is preloaded , haven't checked , but me and buddy are going in April, finally, hope all is well and speedy recovery, thanks again
Whats up Jeff. I was in the market to upgrade, my old rod holders were worn out. Steve Douglas reached out to me and hooked it up. I'm not bashing the fishbites, I really liked them but these Monsters are SOLID! Thanks for watching
@@hammer-downcatfishingwithj7223nothing much, SOS DD lol. cool! I was just curious is all. Yeah those rodholders have definitely taken a beating over the years lol.

I run a navionics card and c-map reveal. They are both decent on the james. Depth isn't exact but close enough with plenty other contour and details
@hammer-downcatfishingwithj7223 thanks appreciate it
When you know you threw baits right in their faces 👍👍😂
Love it when that happens!! Thanks for watching Tim
What kind of camera do you use?
Gopro hero 10s
Todays lesson.....Don't walk on Kens leader!
🤣 He's not cool with that
Awesome! So if you don't mind me asking Joe, what made you decide to go with Monster Rod Holders instead of FishBite Rod Holders?
