I watched it tonight in New York and despite some sound issues (thanks Paris Theater), I had a great time! I was shocked to see that score afterwards. I would’ve given it a 7/10 maybe 7.5. It’s rushed and bogs down in the second half and is a bit verbose but I think it’s an engaging action film. Not sure why some critics judge Snyder’s movies on a different scale than similar genre movies. I recommend everybody to not look at Rotten Tomatoes or an aggregator site. It really frees you up to have different and unique opinions on movies.

May I suggest you stop lowering your standard for Zack Snyder as a director when other directors like Ryan Coogler, Russo Brothers, Patty Jenkins, James Gunn, Jon Favreau, Denis Villeneuve, Matt Reeves and Christopher Nolan all have proven that you can do a way better job directing an engaging sci-fi action film in the last 10-15 years in 2,5 hours that a large majority of the audience and critics will like or even love and that didn't need a director's cut

@@goodfella1401 sure you can suggest. However, the criteria movie goers use to judge a movie is whether they enjoy it or not. If John Woo was starting out today imagine what the critics would say, better yet how many you tube productions could cut it by any critics' standard? Just because you don't like a movie or a director's methods doesn't mean I have to agree with your assessment. Audiences often display this by simply going to watch it in unprecedented numbers despite the scathing reviews. Would the Original Star wars be considered a good movie if it were produced today?

Snyder can not edit himself, he throws everything on screen and the viewer has to sift through unnecessary manucia. 100% correct. He's an ADHD filmmaker: lots of idea's - no uniform focus to make it actually watchable. A good writer knows he has to kill his darlings. I instatly wrote it off. For no other reason than just being a snobby purist. I went opening night expecting to hate it... I fucking LOVED it. Wasnt perfect. But i loved the style and acting so much. The action was so slick and included so many iconic shots taken from actual panels of the comic. I was skeptical on how they were going to handle Dr. Manhattan's origin because its my favorite sequence in the book. How it explains DM's perception of time the way it plays with non linear time i figured adaptin it to a movie would be disappointing. But it was executed perfectly. And the way the movie gives the history of the original minute men and condenses it to that awesome title sequence. And sure i would have preferred the doomsday squid was in the movie but i understand going for something a bit more serious to fit the film and appeal to more people.
So yeah... Im pretty excited for rebel moon...

Yeah, the whole 120lb woman being able to take down 220lb men by herself with no weapon, then do it over and over…why can’t casting directors pick someone who looks like an MMA fighter who could actually do these action sequences? The male actors chosen for fight scenes are all tall and muscular. I know that it’s a movie and part of watching it is the suspension of disbelief, but it still needs to be plausible enough for me to do that. I have seen some lithe women do well in things like martial arts, but it’s super rare. Most of the women in real life who can actually fight against a 220lb bodybuilder are heavily muscled. Sofia Boutella is a very attractive woman, but this “picking pretty women and having them work out until they have muscle definition” is just out of control.
