The mom screaming at her son, saying "your actions and the people you hang with" is spot on. Although she's coming unhinged (and I COMPLETELY understand why), it seems like she's probably tried in the past to set him straight. That is why I hate it when people automatically blame the parent(s). Sometimes they've tried everything under the sun and it just has not worked. At some point the person, teen, adult, whatever, is responsible for their own behavior.

@omarra6781 His mom is a nurse working every shift she can to support their family. It's my neighborhood and my bestie lives a few houses down from them. She said the youngest used to be a good kid til he got tangled up in shenanigans. Its sad because what choice does she have? She's had to work😞

@@josephdejean4620 That can be true as well. We don't know if she screamed like this all the time or not. It's easy to suspect she did/does, but the interrogation about a TRIPLE MURDER, could also be bringing out the most angry, emotional part of her. We just don't know. My statement was more about parents trying their damnedest to guide their kids and the kids completely ignoring it. I have two sons and a daughter. My kids got into their share of trouble. I didn't scream at them all the time, but make no mistake, I WOULD get angry at times. I tried to guide them but when all my efforts failed, sometimes anger and despair were the only things left. If I were this mother, sitting in an interrogation room, not knowing whether or not my kid was involved in a triple murder, I'd probably lose my sh*t too.

Just learned of Michael’s passing. Bruce can’t blame anything on himself. No matter the circumstances the support & love the two had for one another, respect too was something to admire. 27 is far too young. I’m sure whatever it is, one day Bruce will come forward realizing he needs us too. We need him… and will support him w love, respect & strength no matter how weak he feels. Sending him so many thoughts of hope & knowledge that w one day passing another, he will rise from bed knowing Michael’s existence will never be forgotten!! I agree with the sentiment in your last sentence but what is it about people assuming things like that? The worst mother in the world would have a similar reaction, based solely on the avalanche of shit this would probably bring down on the parents and family so the mother losing her shit doesn't automatically mean she cares about her son. For what it's worth she's probably a mediocre mother. Not good, not bad.

A lot of the time they think they'll be let go if they confess so they do.

Totally agree. I always expect my kids to face responsibility. I'm not a "not my little angel" type of mother. And I think if kids know that they tend NOT to get in trouble. I've never even had my girls in school trouble, no detentions. They always say they behave because they are more frightened of what I'll say when they get home.
Id make sure they sought counsel though. Just so they get the right advice
Luckily I live in the UK where gun crime is non existent, kids aren't prosecuted as adults or given adult sentences and there is lots of rehabilitation.
Make them take responsibility but give kids a second chance to turn it around.

      @Oliviaandtrina Місяць тому +13

Absolutely. HOWEVER, keep in mind that even guilty people are entitled to all the protections of the law. Murderers are entitled to a lawyer, have the right to silence, and a fair trial. So advocating for your child's rights is NOT the same thing as helping them "get away" with it.

You do not have to hide or claim your child is an angel for any and all to hear - just give the best defense you can give via a lawyer.
The worst thing you could do is leave them hanging or let the court figure it out.
Give them a lawyer and then leave the room - let the lawyer do their job.
If you have doubts, get another lawyer opinion.
After the trial you can choose to continue support or not.

In HS I had friends who cut class to hang out at lake to swim, drink and smoke. Meanwhile... if I cut school it was to set in on college classes. I was a honor student. I hung out with both good and bad kids.
Luckily, I was a popular eclectic type nerd who didn't fit a mold thanks to school and after-school activities being my safe place from an abusive home. Most of the kids back then who got into trouble were usually dealing with abusive homes too and so I understood them. They definitely were not like kids today.

If you think about it they're a unnecessary profession in a broken system. If prosecutors simply sought justice based on the facts and the judge held them accountable, defense wouldn't be necessary. But seeing as prosecutors and judges don't actually seek justice but victory now we need defense lawyers. People who actively try to get guilty as sin people off. I saved my stepson but at what cost. He went on to rack up many traffic tickets, several misdemeanors, contempt of court, failure to appear, probation, probation violations, failed probation and released unsatisfactory and now his first felony. He literally violated probation his first day.

I got a good laugh out of that, but Jesus christ.. I'd have the same reaction if someone told me my dog had been shot, I can't even imagine what I would do if I found out about my child in the way that officer broke the news.. I might have charged at the officer and "gone for" their weapon hoping they're a fast enough draw so the full reality and grief never hit me.
I saw a video on a site a year ago where 2 teenage girls were in a makeup closet recording a video of themselves playing with a gun. The gun went off and shot one of them in the head and she dropped instantly, and the one that was holding it when it went off shot herself immediately after she realized what happened. There were maybe 2 seconds between shots if that. I don't think she even thought about it, as it looked like she did it out of straight reflex.
EDIT: I searched the incident and it happened in 2022 in St. Louis. The girls found a pistol during a family party and were live on Instagram. There 3 seconds between 2 shots, and only 8 seconds between the 2nd shot and their family finding them. In less than 11 seconds they went from having a fun family get together to it being the most tragic day that they will ever have.
They were 12 and 14. What an absolutely senseless tragedy that was.

Didnt have to lock doors, could go outside at night, everyone knew eachother and helped eachother. We had yearly potlucks. our kids were out here hunting, boating, cruising on golf carts to enjoy the animals, fishing, and helping neighbors. Now you cant even walk down the street.
Idiots come out here 4-wheeling and shooting guns for fun. Tearing up and destroying the woods, trails, and what used to be clear & clean spring fed lakes. Destroying a literal paradise and running off all the animals. Its absolutely insane.

@Celisar1 - I am worried sick about his "path" and I have been tossed out of my sons home for chastising the kid as he grew up. I cant remember how many times I have been told "This is our home. Not yours. Be nice or don't come in.!" Now, please keep in mind I was a foster parent for 25+ years, helped 92 children seek shelter from their storm. 6 of them wanted to stay, so I adopted them. I raised 10 children into adults. Good adults. All 10 graduated high school even my Down Syndrome son. 5 went into the military and one of my sons that entered the US Navy became a SEAL.He was wounded in Panama and retired. Both of my Marines came home , one missing a leg, and both ARMY guys came home. My children have never been 8nside a joil and with the exception of being adopted never been in a courtroom. So I must be doing something right.

Having worked with adolescents for over 25 years, which I began in 1993 as a youth outreach counselor on the west side of Chicago. Growing up on the south side of Chicago I was very familiar with gangs and losing a lot of family and friends to gang violence. The gang violence today has gotten worse and these lost young people (boys & girls) don’t stand a chance.
WE as ADULTS are mostly to blame!!! I say we because it truly takes a village to raise healthy children.
It’s not one issue that’s the problem, there are many layered issues that have gone unaddressed/unresolved for generations. Things progressively get worse with each generation and will continue to get worse until we start making the necessary changes to fix them. This is completely the responsibility of the adults in our society. IMO here are a few things: Adults make the decisions on what movies, music and social media..etc that will publicize to the public. Adults set the examples of how children should behave. What kind of behavior are we showing our children? The “do as I say not as I do” doesn’t work! The educational system needs to be overhauled. We need to bring back some social programs and add additional programs that will help our youth. Like summer job programs, after school programs and athletics programs that are no to low cost. We need to take bringing children into this world much more seriously and have a better understanding of what that all involves. We need to understand how selling and consuming drugs affects us all in the present and future. I’ll stop here but there a lot more to list. We have to exhibit better behavior for our children to be better humans.

First, we need stop having kids with criminals.
Secondly, both parents need to move out the hood so the kids don't have to see violence on the regular.

The 12 yr old doesn’t think beyond himself. He’s not thinking about his mother missing work, possibly losing her job and how all that “adult stuff” will affect his siblings. I wouldn’t be yelling but I’d get him a lawyer and make him tell the lawyer the truth so he’d at least have a chance in court. Police want justice for the victims and their families. The kid should serve time for his stupidity but probably not life. He needs a second chance. But if he messes up again…bye!

Exactly. Whether they did it or not, defendants deserve competent representation, and in this case, I don't think that your mom yelling at you and interrogating you along with the police is that. It's hard to feel sympathy for this kid, but at the same time, unless he's a complete psycho, he didn't get this way on his own.

The female police officer could have been a bit more empathetic! The grandmas already wailing and asked where her granddaughter was shot. For the officer to say “she was shot in the head” all upbeat and quickly. Who trained her! Wtf. Unbelievably cold.
