Painting 20 Round Metal Mags for My M16

Painting my 20 Round Metal Mags from C Products Defense to look more like a metal mag that would've been seen used in Vietnam. Just in time for reenacting.

I wouldn't paint the part that seats in the magwell but that's just personal preference lol🤣

How has the paint been holding up?

Because these mags are Teflon coated inside and out and the follower is made out of Teflon, YOU Never paint a magazine without first sanding/cleaning as you would with any surface prior to painting and should always stuff it with paper/tissue so as to not get paint flake off inside when followers run up and down inside their tracks. In addition, You should never paint any followers as the paint WILL eventually peel off and get into your internals which may cause fowling and or feeding issues. Black followers are easily purchased cheap.

Why paint the followers? Btw Colt mags have a dry lube finish.. it's not from wear/tear, although dry film does wear easily. Those c mags you have are ptf coated. If you want more colt style mags just buy Okay industries surefeed 20 rounders; Okay industries is the oem for colts magazines and half the price (33710 cage code)

Nice job! You should paint them in the rifle though so you dont have any problems in the functioning of the magazine in the rifle.

That’s why I removed the springs. The magazine fits fine in the rifle. Only thing I would be worried about is feeding with the follower
