Keep the sweater? Get rid of the sweater? LOL! :)
PETER!!! Ill be at NAB!! are you doing a meetup?
Peter McKinnon keep it!
Keeps it! Looks really cosy!
Peter McKinnon keep it lol
Why are you even asking?🤣
this guy was preparing for corona 2 years before it became a pandemic
legend
true legend
What a legend
Keep the sweater boy. It’s very Peter McKinnony
keep it
_ VIPER _ As a gay black man, I am very offended
Peter, where did you get the sweater? I needz it!
Keep the sweater!!!
Yes!
YASSSSS
Sup
B roll of the pizza with this lens was a missed opportunity.
Frl😂
Yeah exactly
Keep the sweater BECAUSE everyone hates it!
Hahah exactly my thinking.
LOL I agree with you Luke! LOL
Wondering if you still have that SWEATER ?
@@azakerahman1471 same
Yet again, the way you explain things just help massively. Keep up the awesome work please. You're work is always incredible
Love your up-beat style Peter. Defo one of my favourite photography channels on YT. Keep doing what you do best buddy! ;)
nothing scares me more than when my tech talks to me when i didn't tell it to.
IKR?
My wife's iPhone 7S does that alllll the time! I've never had that issue on my good ol' 5S.
awe snap! its adam!
Glad I'm not the only one! My watch decided to do this same thing last night at dinner.
Been using this lens since January and freaking love it. It builds on the unbelievable sharpness of the 1.2, but the stabilization is so freaking good in this new one!
How does it compare to the 1.2? Watched a Jason Lanier review of the 1.2 and it produced incredible results. Is the aperture difference really evident or is the stabilization so good that it makes up for any slight advantage the 1.2 has?
Josiah Richwine it’s so close in sharpness it feels subjective but I still think the 1.2 is sharper. I’ve used both extensively with the c100mk ii and the c200. Great combo
Isn’t the 1.2 faster than the 1.4? Peter later said that the focus was slower but I thought that lenses with lower f stops = faster lens?
AJ Scal correct 1.2 is faster
AJ Scal Faster in that you can shoot at lower light which means you can shoot at a faster shutter speed if you need to keep the shutter speed higher.
So Appreciate that you're framing yourself with the Door frame. Love it!
Question my dude. would you suggest getting the canon 85mm 1.8 or the Sigma Ex 85mm 1.4? sigma is about 900 ish?
Sigma of course,,, The ART series is just wild with bokeh and sharpness
@@tahme0w Less reliable auto-focus. Native Canon glass is the best in that regard, especially if you rely on AF during video.
@@costinvaly1 + Image stabalizer
I'm with you on compressed vs not. This is definitely a lens I'll get once I've saved enough for it. Thanks Peter! And that pizza break was hilarious!
Peter, what is this magic persuasion you have? 10 minutes ago I didn't think I'd ever need this lens. 😂😂
And I didn't want a Pizza, but here we are.
Hey Pete, love the new subtle change to the lighting set up - light on the back wall coming down and to the right from the the top left - it’s money! Keep up the awesome feed brother 👍🏻
just love you and your content and your every single video gives me the energy, thanks for being here peter
I swear I have an entirely new respect for your b-roll and good b-roll in general. I just went out today and location scouted for my first vlog. I got some shots along the way and it is so hard to get stable footage. But I'm not going let that stop me, I'm still going to upload the vlog.
So... You didn't...
Keep the sweater, it looks comfy AF lol

at 3:39 when he goes back into the closet to put back the lens, he always stressed about using short scenes that helps you guess what the subject is doing but without shoooting the all thing !
you are our Master ! learning so much from you man
wow, I have that lens too. I love it too. I've only thought it is as a portrait lens for weddings, and have never tried it for B-roll.
_The king of b-Roll_ is *_Peter_* *_Mckinnon_*
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU RICKY!

Watched video. Ran to store and picked up 85mm. Extra Buttery B-Roll: *Achievement Unlocked*
didn't you know? the b in b-roll stands for buttery
no bullshit?
philote wasn’t it like camera a and camera b. So b roll would be camera b because it’s a side camera

always the best, thanks for sharing your knowledge Pete!
Keep the sweater! Kidding me?? It's awesome
Enjoyed the b-roll talk but to be honest I need more towel sweater in this video!! Also where'd you get it? My fiancè would hate it so I have to buy it now! Lol
K Soul lol lol
Inspired yet again - great vid as always Pete! Keep up the great work :)
Your enthusiasm is infectious!
Haha, the teddy sweater is so cute!! IS is definitely the best addition for B-Roll!!
I love the king of B Roll very creative keep the good work I love your videos I just started my vlogs I am a beginner and I'm learning from your channel
Dude I'm super fascinate about your work and personality. i've de over your UA-cam Chanel about 2 day's ago and i can't stop Watching your videos :)) Big up from Romania.
In full support of an updated b-roll video!! The first was SMOKING RED GOLD!
Exciting news + closet being a mess. I'm going to assume that you are getting a studio space. Also, the 16-35 + 85mm is the best combo!
B roll is like IMPORTANT as much as content and story, its all part of recipe.
I just purchased this lens for my birthday this past July. I wanted it when it came out the previous November but I had been unemployed and undergone training for and just started the new job at that time, I worked some overtime and it’s mine and I freaking love it
Pete, Such a great tip on blurring the foreground and background. I have to try that now.
I want pizza every single time I watch this video!
that towel sweater looks so comfortable!
Totally agree. I loveeee my 85 mm. My videos look amazing especially in natural lighting. I also barely have to edit my photos with this lens. Awesome video!
Starting to pick up on the office hints... ooooooooo exciting stuff!
THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT TIPS! You have helped me a lot on my UA-cam journey!
Cut and Clean TV same here very inspiring
The title explains what this channel is all about 🔥
Peter, I love your videos so much. Your style is is vintage-y and very similar to my taste. Honestly I could watch a video of you making coffee for 10 min, cooking, or just whatever you feel like! Cause I know that sometimes you get burnt out on making tutorials and explaining things. Lol
You transmit so much energy, can't wait to have my first camera
Literally just finished filming a video on why I use the 85mm so much too.. thanks Pete, will help my traffic next week when I post 😂
I got you
Cheers!
The title of “King of Broll” is definitely held by Pete! Makes me want to work harder but also intimidates me! He is just on another level! Keep it up bro!
Love this video man. Music choice was on point!
Picked up this lens yesterday, this thing is a beast! I highly recommend it!
Hands down Peter McKinnon is the king of B-Roll!!!
Watch some Playthegamefilms (Justin Escalona) and see if you change your mind
That's the Peter I used to know! Mid tutorial pizza break. Keep on keeping on man!
Love your energy watching your videos gets me pumped for the day!!
My favorite GO-TO camera lens!! Thanks of this one man!
The towel-style-sweater is awesome. Keep it! 👍
LOL I agree with you Felix! Have a good week sir.
Noooo, are u moving into a studio??? I looove the background you have going on at the moment... It feels all cozy and personal^^
Rhett Wiebe Him and Matti are getting an office together
Crystal Lou oh okay, thats probably gonna be funny too😂 but still i love the setup as it is right now
Love your taking preventative measures, most forgot how much of a difference that can make in life. Great Tea!
Totally understand you. I use my Canon f1.8 for my Brolls and I love that lens.
This one F1.4 wit IS should be great!
Couldn't agree more. 85mm is a solid lens for capturing B-Roll footage. Great video as always man!
"Let's roll the intro" - Ad for ready player one starts xd
I am traveling in Asia right now, couldn’t watch your videos for a while, I missed them a lot ! And I really wanted to know more about the 85mm 1.4
Finally, an 85mm 1.4 for B-roll video. :P Thanks man :D Super useful :D

Peter, you yourself is the king of b roll no matter what lens you use.
This was actually very helpful!! I wasn’t going to watch this video but I got really bored so did. I am really getting into photography and I have been looking for an upgraded 50mm telephoto like lens
Yes... i Love that lenses too!
Absolutely agree with you, Peter! I just got my 85mm lens -or you know... my 40mm since I use mft body- a few weeks ago and I love it!
Echo Productions how did you wrote? or you know sentence ? lined?
Born Hyper I added one of these (-) on each side. I wasn’t trying to to that haha
Echo Productions wait what -peter McKinnon is the best cinematographer-
oh 😂 -haha-
_Interesting...._
Tomorrow?? Uuuu, two words for that, YES PLEASE!
I wanted to complete your sentence "smash it if its something u are into" with 2020. Can't believe it feels like this video came out yesterday. So much has changed still considering to buy this lens. Thanx pete.
Filmmaking is my passion and you’ve made me want to share it with the world.
Love the polar bear hoodie!

Really guys you can comment in big channels comment section and get a little attention☺.
A way of self promotion.
okay you should collab guys
Got this as a Christmas present from my Mom! I've never cried tears of joy so much! LOL
John Santana your mom is a legend
HerreDePerre I agree ☺️
Keep the sweater! Thanks for the video! Working on getting my broll game going.
*gg on making me hella hungry Peter.* 7:36
haha nice Alex.
4:45 what does 1.4 means? It means that iris opens up to 1.4 aperture 😂
if you don't know what 1.4 means, it's not for you yet
I absolutely love your channel!!
Peter! I live in Vegas and will be at NAB and would love to shake your hand and thank you for all the amazingly informative videos
Give me the sweater! 😂 it looks so amazingly comfy!!!!
Thanks! I bought one last night! Your video pushed me over the edge. Love the bokeh! Can't wait to get it!
I saved $500 by purchasing this from the Canon Refurbished list (plus an extra 10% off!). I always buy refurbished camera bodies and lenses directly from Canon. Why?
Because the Canon tech runs each individual camera or lens through all the tests whereas the factory cameras or lenses are just spot checked.
The refurbished camera or lens is verified and certified! It definitely works perfectly! I've not been disappointed yet! You're welcome!
That's true I do the same thing like you.
I didn’t know that. Thanks Scott
Pete can u do more tutorials on product photography? I really really really enjoyed that video
I do have the 85 1.2 and I love it a lot for portraits. The compression is so buttery and delicious 😋 if they had had the 1.4 when I was on the market for an 85 I would have probably gotten it though as I love a fast autofocus
That pizza looked so good haha! But it's not cheatday yet Peter!
5:23 You do the tape thing now!! nice :P
Thanks for the explanation about the Canon 85mm 1.4 Stabilized. I need to get one.
I have to say, the 3d effect that the black cloth over the window gives when you were moving your hand was incredible XD Plus, keep the sweater!
Leaving that like LIKE always!!!!!
I never would have thought someone loves pizza as much as I do! It's pizza time ALL the time
Saw it in the vid - need to get myself one now LOL
I'm amazed someone who loves pizza eats Dominoes. That was a surprise.
Craig Ferguson Dominos is bomb though 🔥
Danny Feng lol
Craig Ferguson haha
Damn Peter!! The inspirational kick is high af 😂 thanks man❤
Sweater is awesome, but for that lens I will def start saving. Epic video. Thanks for the inspiration.
If you have a crop sensor lens, you can use a 50mm 1.8 and get basically the same thing! (80mm equivalent)
Brennan Ryan exactly the info I was looking for! Thanks!
Glad I could help! You're welcome!
But what about the stabilization?
But it will still have the bokeh of a 50 1.8, so the bokeh will look more like a 80 f2.8 (same exposure, but the bokeh will be different.)
Yeah, but you'll still get the perspective distortion of a 50mm, it's just cropped. It's also equivalent to 80mm f/2.8, that's two whole stops less bokeh, and the 50mm isn't exactly known for buttery smooth bokeh.
For those looking for a cheaper second hand 85mm - MPB is a great second hand website for camera gear!
Ur intro about te make me 😂 - U are awesome; love u man ✌️
Thank you for all the help. You're literally the man
Nice easter bunny suit my guy
pick only one for B roll: 85mm/1.4 IS or 100mm/2.8 Macro IS ?!
I will go for the 85mm, reason: f1.4 and short body size
get the 100mm, more diverse with macro shots and that IS for video
Pick the 100mm if you need macro and sharpness. Pick the 85mm 1.4 IS for bokeh and where IS is needed. Both are good for portait work...depending on the studio size.
The 100mm 2.8 macro for b roll is IN. SANE!!!
Yes on the Towel, and I would love to know how you organize your B Roll!!
I definitely love that 1.4! Super blurred out and very bokeh! I usually use 1.4 on my old camera but now my new camera can only do 1.7 because of the adapter
I'm 5'1 and I (used to) carry my 70-200 L when I travel and it's just too heavy (but love all the photos I took with that one). Then micro 4/3 cameras and lenses came out and my Mark II 5D and all the heavy lenses sat inside my dry cabinet for a long time. But just recently, I take photos now from my fone. I'm getting lazier and lazier which is not good! 🤦🏻♀️
Naya Ruth meanwhile I'm saving to switch from m43 to full frame,.
If I am you I'd start watching Peter McKinnon videos.
I am the stage where I am just taking pictures with my phone as well, been at this stage for a few years now. Might have been due to moving around quite a bit, so the camera equipment has not been packed, as well as having a smart phone. But 2/3 weeks ago, I started watching YT vids of photographers. Which has helped me gain my interest again. So earlier this week I unpacked all the camera equipment I have, and placed it on shelves. Now I want to check which analogue cameras work, and which does not. I also sent one of my lenses to be fixed, which I should have done ages ago 👍🏻.
Try canon m50 super tiny
I’m fricken 6’ and pretty muscular. But my 1Dx Mk ii with a 70-200mm is HEAVY ASF
00:01 could very well be the most bizzare version of Big Bird I've ever seen. 😜
I absolutely love it when someone talks to the pizza guy like they're their friend, good vibes.
this was awesome! i did so much research before i spent money. i love my 80d w the 50mm 1.2 L its very similar to this 85 on a full frame.
Yeah the 50 1.2L is really nice, also gives a nice upgrade path since it's a fullframe lens 😃
