Thanks for starting this series. It really inspired me to start writing my own book again. In an older vlog, you mentioned that your go-to writing drink was a matcha tea, and I remember thinking "isn't that the green one? that looks like grass? yuck...?" And then I realized I never had one before, so I tried it and now it's MY go-to writing drink. Like, it's been at least 2 years and it's NECESSARY I swear. So thanks for that lol ☺️
I'm really happy you're posting these videos now cause I feel really stuck with my book and you make me feel more seen. I don't have a deadline and I've got 33k words in (already on act 2), but I've been having that sense of 'is this even a book, what am I saying, who's my character' for weeks and it sucks all the fun out of writing, even though it's a story I was very excited to tell. I'd appreciate if anyone has any advice for me 💕
💜💜 SO that sense is this even a book is so normal, it’s a phase I always hit in every project, and if you keep moving forward it will pass! If you’re really really stuck, my fix would be to try and reassess what part of the draft maybe isn’t working for you! If you’re bored by some scene or moment /and or feel annoyed by it when you’re reading/editing, maybe you need to rewrite the scene with something else happening, or whatever is happening, happening in different way that gets you excited again 🤓sometimes I just imagine what wild thing would I love to happen in this moment in the story and write it in cuz it gets me moving again

I’m about 71k into the first draft of the start of a trilogy and have about 59 more chapters to write (this thing is huge!) but I’m loving these vlogs and they’re giving me the urge to go get closer to writing “the end”!
I’m currently a little over 60k words into the first draft of my fourth novel. (It’s an adult contemporary romance that explores many important themes). Similarly to you, I’ve also been struggling to write my novel recently (specifically the ending chapters of the book), so I really relate to this. I have days where I hate my book and days where I absolutely love it, and continuing to work on it and reading through it, oddly enough, reminds me how much I love it. (I’ve also been documenting my thoughts about this book on my Instagram, but that’s besides the point). Also, I really love all of your writing vlogs - I’ve watched every single one, and these are hands down my favorite videos of yours, especially as a writer myself. I just love seeing and hearing about other people’s writing processes, including yours. While I rarely comment on your videos (despite watching and loving your content since 2013ish), I just figured I’d say that. p.s. Ever since Midnights released, it’s practically all I want to listen to and write to now! It’s just so good! I love Taylor Swift so much.
Okay, so here's the thing, I wrote a New Adult book for Nano, and I put it down, right? I pick it back up this month (Late February), I write a scene, finish a chapter, star a new one, then I put it down for the day, and I realize, shit, I had a dependency and I had to go back into the previous chapter, and read what I wrote in November! Also, I watch ER between writing projects, and I am not mad about it. It works, lol!

I feel that with iPhones. Like before I got one in 2016, I had a flip phone while everyone around me had an iPhone and I felt so judged. I’m the only one of my friends to have an iPhone now and I don’t care that my friends don’t cause I don’t want to judge them like others judged me. Besides there so freaking expensive! Not everyone got that kind of money.

Wait, I don’t understand the Iphone problem you mentioned 😂 Are you referring to the Messages App? I don’t even know how that works. I don’t think anyone in Europe uses that as the main method to chat, specially because I think we have more variety of smartphones here, so it would be just a mess. It’s blue if the other person has an Iphone too and green when they don’t, so the message gets sent as an SMS, right? 😅
that’s funny! I have friends from several countries and we all chat through WhatsApp. Some others use Facebook Messenger or Telegram, but I don’t know anyone who consistently uses the Iphone app 😂 I’ve used it to joke around only with those crazy filters when sending a message, that’s it 😅
Oh my gosh you have no idea how these vlogs keep me going 😂 my book 1 (bc I made the poor decision of writing all 3 at once) is 154,000 words BUT I've made it to draft 2!!! It needs heavy editing but we'll get through this 😭😂
