"Chaos from Order" is not the whole law of thermodynamics, you leave out the part "in a closed system". So if you look at water freezing it crystalizes, but it also gives off heat as it freezes, so it will only happen if the surrounding is colder then the water sample. so it is not only the higher amount of order in the water crystals but also the heat that is more distributed after the freezing which increases the chaos in the environment. There is a difficult thermodynamic property called entropy that decreases in the freezing water and increases in the environment of which the sum in both systems increases. so if you would partially fill a bottle with unfrozen water at 0 centigrade and put it in a large amount of salty water like in the Arctic sea you would see freezing as the arctic ocean is below freezing and heat escaping from the bottle. But as the environment (arctic ocean) gets closer to zero it takes longer to freeze the content of the bottle. So there is almost no change in the total amount of entropy and so the process gets exceedingly slow. Normally it is very difficult do see what's happening but this thermodynamic law of entropy keeps applying and has never been found to be false.
Buddhism , Jainism gave lots of morality and ethics much before Jesus lived . In urban India we of course go by said Christian ideals (secularism), but we try to hold on to our own stuff when it comes to spirituality
Glen starts by offering the finest 'apologetic' explanation as to answering your question, "Who was this Jesus of Nazareth?", I have heard in a long while: except that, within scriptural scholarship circles, questions have been raised over the past hundred years (as part of the Christological 'quest' after Jesus), as to what he DID actually claim for himself. The late, great Geza Vermes is one such scholar: although Hilde Brekke Moller (2017) cites many more who have raised similar issues. But notice how Glen swiftly switches from 'faith in Jesus' to 'faith in a book': and herin lies the danger for the future of Christianity. For Christians like Glen, our scriptures are the important part of faith: not the creator God of Israel, embodied in his Son, to whom they testify. This is because Glen thinks God wrote the words: a conception which brings such Christians' attitudes to the Hebrew/Christian scriptures remarkably close to those of the devout Muslim for his Koran. Whereas many of us consider them to be written by countless (often unknown) human hands, over thousands of years, testifying to their experience of encounters with that God. I can hold that our scriptures have given rise to our civilisation, just as Glen, and Tom Holland ('Dominion') do: but those same scriptures have also been abused to justify cruelty on an unimaginable scale. Even today, Christians like Glen find common cause with Islam in its attitudes to women and to homosexual human beings: even to the extend to valuing the Islamic sanctions for homosexual love (in Tehran this amounts to rows of young men swinging from cranes by their necks). Fundamentalisms - whether scientific (Scientism....THE science!), political, or 'religious' are ALWAYS inhumane and cruel. They have not learned the lesson, placed on the lips of Jesus, in the earliest of the Gospels; Mark 2:27. Glen also (05:00) drawn a distinction between the Jewish and Christian ethics: which appears to imagine that Christianity added 'love' to Judaism. But the faith of Jesus of Nazareth was that of his forebears, in the creator God of Israel. His obsession was that God, 'Adonai Elohim', and not his own 'person'. Jesus of Nazareth IS the most towering figure in World history: but we have to remember he was fully human; and he was a young male Jew. He was not "the first Christian".
@HagiaSophia1952, you have quite a few problems there. The Book/s is/are _an_ important part, not the important part. Everyone should know that and understand the dangers. We all have foundations of our values and world views. I'd quite strongly discourage using that word. You're right about "the faith of Jesus of Nazareth was that of his forebears".
