- The 1939 Ford Forgotten Hot Rod's retro plaid seat covers were hated by just about everyone, but were a quick solution to get the seats "useable". Matt decided this winter to pull the seats out and get a nice full interior made. Our local friends from Rehab Upholstery offered their services to transform the 39's interior. The new seats and door cards really pop and really make the car stand out. Let us know what you think of the interior in the comments below and be sure to head to Chris and Shana's Instagram to let them know as well!!

I watched the Roadkill guys drive this car 1,000 miles with little to no problems (They mentioned that they bought it for you as well). That interior is killer. EXCELLENT JOB!
Thanks for watching!
Although I was already an Iron Trap fan, the Roadkill episode brought this older build to my attention as well. Spent the last few weeks seeking out and viewing all installments on this great old hot rod. 🤟
You knocked it out of the park with that interior. Really looks good, changes the whole car’s personality. Plus it’s Moon approved.
From how you recovered the car from the junk yard to now is amazing. Looks great. Consider a drywall square for sizing up and cutting sheet goods. You will like this $20 tool.
Kudos to Rehab Upholstery for hooking you up. It looks great!
That rubber floor covering texture should be called “Dinosaur Skin”.
Hey Matt and guys, interior looks great, nice colors. Well I have been looking for a 30's or 40's hot rod and bought one today. A 1948 chevy, 2 door coupe, style master, chevy 305 cu in, power glide trans, solid body and frame, black, original interior and dash, nice condition. The gentleman I bought it off has been building hot rods a long time, he's 84 and still going strong, nice guy. Your show inspired me to by an older car, very happy....Ralph
Headliner and a satin black/primer finish outside and it will be ready for springtime moonshine season😁😁😈
What happy faces while you drive to lunch! Well, that’s another success, the change is RADICAL!
Interior looks very cool now.
awesome 39 matt.
You guys are transforming this into real hot rod , keep up the good work
The mottled red of the vinyl looks much better than solid red would have.
Agreed!
Matt..gotta give Steve a raise..never fail to hear you both laughing and having a good time as you work....more gets done with less stress..
Steve was a great find 👍 he seems to be a very easy going guy 😎 and knowledgeable 🤔 great hair also 😂🤣
I think the guy is on the pay role. Both Matt and Mike aren't really mechanics.
Matt does sheet metal repairs and welding and Mike is a logistic person.
Steve can do engines and wiring and maybe transmissions also.
You’re right we aren’t mechanics can’t do any mechanical work on cars… guess you missed the other cars we put together before Steve lol. Steve is a good all around helper. He can do a little bit of everything but it’s not that Matt/Mike can’t do mechanical work at all lol.
Great looking interior!☝️😉😁🙄☝️
Moon is a great helper 😂😂!!!!
Floor mats look great as do the upholstery. Yes very nice!! I mean Wowwwwww
Interior looks fantastic. Great finishing touch to a sweet project.
Nailed it with the look!!! Add a black with red headliner and call it done .
The smile on your guys faces told the story of how magnificent it came out!!!!
The old, free, plaid seat covers had great appeal to my wallet but…. The interior is beautiful and pops. Glad Moon helped out.
Great job Matt.
Inspector moon on the job he says it's about darn time I get something to ride in matt .
Awesome interior the that red and black make it pop.
The rubber floor mat material look really are a nice touch.
Thanks Craig!
I see you mike, rockin the rivers of nihil band tee. Good taste as usual my friend.
Looking good still one of my favorites
Moon is the BEST!!❤
This looks awesome so far. It's come such a long way since being pulled out of the junkyard. HOWEVER it needs more Moon!!
Oh my!! phenomenal!!!! your vision is amazing!!🚀🛸😎👍
Love your videos and love seeing Moon putting his nose into things👍
That’s a smashing car really coming on 👴🏻👍
That black mat is like Australian cars had in the trunks in the 70s 80s
It's not a junker anymore, it now qualifies as a Jolapi, and I am proud to drive one, that one is awesome, have fun with it.
Thanks Bob!
Beautiful interior BTW. Well done.
Wow, what an improvement!
We think so too!
moon is the man!
the interior looks awesome and i cannot get over how far this car has come. thanks for saving another!
Thanks for watching!
Tastefully done. Door gaskets and a headliner will bring it home.
I liked those seat covers. It reminds me of my grandparents and Delaware beach traffic. It's there to keep sand and Popsicle schmutz off the seats because rowdy 7 and 9 years olds are, well 7 and 9 year olds stuck in the back of a Buick in Delaware.
Random useless trivia: 8:53 “Luxury Liner” is the name of a Gram Parsons song.(When he was in The International Submarine Band).
Awesome, finally some decent interior! Headliner will cut the noise even more. You're dead right, now it does look like somebody cares for it! Congratulations!
The Moon Dog loves his Master ! gonna have to get him a agent !
Nice work. And personally, I'd never paint it. Given the car's history I think it adds character and helps to tell its story... "hey, look at me. I'm still surviving!"
We agree!
it may not shine matt , but it is a band find in a scrapyard matt it a survivor and a damn good looking survivor matt it's done now matt just enjoy it matt .
Big thumbs up.
Man! She looks fantastic with the new interior, Moon was just doing what all inspectors do, making sure you was doing the job correctly 😀
Looking great
Having Steve has really helped you keep everything moving along nicely! You guys are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!
He is a big help!
Best comment in the vid was Steve. “This thing doesn’t smell like a crime scene anymore”
🤣🤣🤣
🤣😆
Morning Matt & crew, the rubber mat is definitely a great idea, Steve's suggestion of laying the mat in the sun was spot on!! Interior looks great!! The 39 Forgotten hot rod has come a long ways!! Gonna make someone a nice rod.....also a little bit of Fame too!!
Be safe!! God Bless!!!
The joys of trying to do anything when you own a dog! I have 3 that constantly feel the need to "help", gotta love em they mean well lol.
That interior definitely looks good.
Haha yep they think they’re helping all the time !
I had a golden retriever that used to "help me" by picking up tools and parts and taking them off to bury them. LOL
Man...the style...and the colors are spot on for this old Hot Rod.
I know nothing about '30's Fords, but same era Studebakers had rubber up front and carpet in the back.
The interior makes the dash stand out and look good. Moon will look good sprawled on that back seat, too!
I worked with people who had brain injuries. You do not want one. Install seat belts and use them!
This is the car that got me started with Iron Trap. Still my favorite!
Life gets in the way. Just got done watching Fridays Video. Looks Great.

ey Matt, Geez, you guys nailed it with the interior for the 39 Ford Forgotten Hot Rod !
I've been wanting this car ever since you drug it out of the mud and gooey yucky stuff there in that junk yard. She's becoming a real nice car. I would be proud to be driving her all around the town. You've done such great things to this
Forgotten Hot Rod. Yup, an excellent job.
Great show today Matt.
Thanks for the fun watching & listening to you guys, ha ha.
I hope that the rest of your day is a good one .
Take care and God bless you and the wife and all the guys, oh, and Moon, can't forget Moon. He's a real character, sticking his nose in crazy places.
Bye for now.
Thanks for watching!
That is bad ass!
I like that rubber floormat material . Nice job on that .
Great job, and we got a crack shot of you add your dog working! The interior is fantastic !!!
very very good
Like the colors looking good guys from steve c from state Oregon
That interior is perfect for that car.
I think if you can get a headliner from a company called Crown Tops out of California, if I remember correctly that is where I got mine. Have fun, it looks great.
its obvious the upholstery folks do amazing work i dig the colours
Thanks for the ride. Felt like I was in there! Joe
looking good!
On those vacuum wipers you may be able to make them come around. On my 47 Olds that had been sitting 40 years the wiper linkages were stuck and the seals in the vacuum motor weren't sealing. After replacing hoses PBlaster got the rest of the job done. It freed up the stuck mechanical linkages, but the vacuum motors were still not working...So for the hell of it I shot a bunch of that penetrating oil into the vacuum ports on the vacuum wiper motor and worked the wipers through their motion with and without vacuum and the darn vacuum motors came back to life!...They're still slow for the first cycle or 2 after 5 months dormancy for winter, but always come right back to life. I did the same with a used washer fluid jar vacuum pump (though I had to take it apart to deal with some rust chunks in it) and it came back too with no new parts.
My only gripe is the owner's manual indicates the wiper motor is supposed to self reciprocate, and it doesn't (wipers on extends them, and off retracts them, but they stay in either position if I don't repeatedly turn them off and on when they hit either end of travel)...Once it's in more regular service I may take the vacuum motor apart and look for some kind of reversing valve and try to free it up...It's usable as is albeit not as ergonomic as it would be if they self reciprocated.
Good idea we may try that!
I liked the cheap interior. It was fun looking. It's better now, but i liked it.
Wow you guy's are unbelievable I like the energy from the three of you it shows in the work Good luck
Looking good 👍👍🇨🇱
Amazing how complete the car looks with the interior finished. Excellent job by the local shop on the design and color combinations. Love this car!
Great interior! love how it is not too flashy but still hot rod!
It was hilarious to watch you make that careful cut when you had to recut it anyway 😂🤣 OCD strikes again 😎 not a bad thing 🥰
Big ol' collective thumbs-up on that interior, the shop addition, Moon and every one of your projects!
Hey Matt & Mike
That new upholstery is so cool.
I am glad to see the car is no longer "A Forgotten Hot Rod ".
You guys have brought it back to life !
Work Safe, Be Well
Fantastic job. I wish someone would remake some of these cars.l
What a difference! It doesn't sound like a John boat being dragged down a gravel road anymore! Now we can enjoy the sound of that Y block, which is rather pleasant sounding.
Haha truth
This car is looking amazing considering it came out of the swamp that interior is amazing as well!!!! I’m liking it!!!!
Love this car. Glad to see Moon checking out the inside= comic relief. Great cars and information.
Looks freaking great! I bet it is fun to drive.
It’s not bad at all!
I was definitely one of the ones that did not like the covers you put on so I’m really glad to see the beautiful interior.
I like the original reasonably looked after look. Don't have to worry about getting scratched etc. - very user friendly and mechanically reliable. The headliner should make the interior. 🚗👍
That car is my dream car. Would love to own a 39. Looks great guys. This car has come a long way.
Thanks Jason!
Interior looks great, much quieter now when driving. Hard to believe it was dragged out from a junkyard. 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Cool car & interior....and it's entertaining to watch these guys work!! Keep it up.
meticulous work , wish this could’ve been painted , upholstery 🌹🙏🏻🙏🏻😊
Like the new interior. The red & black is good for the period. Like this hot rod.
Looks Great!
Thought we see Moon riding in the back seat...next time.
Looking good!!😊👍
Great episode. The interior is nice.
That's a great old car glad to see new seats. Looks great.
A possible reason you can't find a repro rear floor rubber mat is because they had rubber mats in the front and carpet in the rear? Lots of cars came like that until the late 70's.
With the vacuum wiper motor, try squirting so Johnsons baby oil into the motor first. It helps the paddle to seal, and some Y blocks had a fuel/vacuum pump combo unit.
Couldn’t find a carpet rear mat either! But you’re probably correct there
Interior ĺooks great guys, love the red and black. The 39 Ford is one of my favorites.
Very cool upgrade its looking very good.
That beautiful interior really makes it snap.
It's going to be mobbed with people checking in out at Hershey and elsewhere.
Next time you gotta cut that rubber mat lay it out on a sheet of plywood or on your concrete floor then use a straight edge and carpet knife to cut it.
It'll cut way faster and easier.
I've cut similar material that way.
Or use Fiskers scissors as they zip right thru pretty much most materials.
I use then to cut felt pool table cloth.
Now all it needs is Paint, please don't shoot me, but I feel this car needs more than the Patina!
Those door panels look amazing too!!!
I love the new interior. It's one of my favourite builds of yours.
Thank you!
Maybe the dog chewed thru the wiring? lol, you could never punish it for doing so tho so cute ;)
I've used that rubber and ribbed for the floor. Also to get the most out of a sheet of rubber I'll measure across with a tape and then use a fabric tape measure over just to get the total over the hump.
Perfect colors on the interior - works with the present patina, plus that shade of red will allow some really sweet paint schemes if the next owner wants to paint the exterior. Mike's going to have some hard choices of which car to take to the warehouse!
This car has such a great story building on it, from scrap metal to running & rolling to another cool old hot rod. Interior looks great Matt 👍👍. Incredible job. You should raffle this car off and donate some % to charity
