- The Wayana are Indigenous people of Caribbean origin, living in the immense tropical forests of Guiana highlands in South America. Hunting is still the main resource to feed the village.
The Wayana hunters know and respect Mother Nature because they are part of it. They don’t hunt out of pleasure, but out of necessity. Mimisiku is without any doubt one of the last Wayana hunters.
The Wayana were the first inhabitants of Guiana and now, they're the last of a vanishing culture.

Here is to the photographer who is valiant, courageous, & also adventurous. Thanks to him, we could enjoy watching & appreciate this rather rare intriguing doc. in Guiana highlands. If it were not for it, I was unaware of the existence of those native people. Now I've gained new insight into life of the people. My heartfelt gratitude to you for that,,,,,(08/22/23)

So wonderful to see a tribe like the Wayana people living of the land and not devastating the environment. When you look at Mimisiku one of their hunters, he has a perfect well built body and has never been to the gym. This a brilliant documentary, thank you Slice for bringing to us those who are still living their lives in tune with nature.

There is so much knowledge so called modern/ civilised man can learn from the remaining indigenous peoples across the globe.Knowledge on how to live in harmony in an ecosystem,preserved it in almost pristine condition, while benefitting from its renewable resources,using ecofriendly methods/ techniques.

I hate the fact that the Western trying to influence everyone to live like them. Leave people and their cultures and traditions alone. Now we hardly know the original people of America because their culture and traditions were wipe out. If they performed their dances it was called war dance. Only because you couldn't understand their languages and ways of living it was labelled as hostile. I grew up in Africa, they sing and dance in every event including funerals that if you don't understand you would think they are happy that the person is dead but it's their way of expressing their feelings. And they use singing and dancing to try and make any situation easier. But the western would call them barbaric. To be honest who is barbaric here

The big trees are reused the animals are eaten not killed for sport and game like you would kill a buck just to cut his had and hang it on your wall they don't do that shit this is survival and living one with nature not making a mockery of your ancestors way of life get a grip

Hardly comparable to what the logging industry is doing…and there are no “noble” savages…it’s a racist concept. Humans are capable of good and bad wherever they live but some cultures are more supportive of the better side of human nature than others. It’s clear from the condition if our beautiful blue home that the choices the majority have made have been profoundly destructive. And, no, I’m not ignoring the positive changes…I’m old enough to remember polio and German Measles, TB, etc.
