I found the key to off roading a series land rover was about assessing the amount of momentum required to climb a slope or get through deep ruts . On standard springs that momentum would have you bouncing about the cab. When I fitted parabolics to mine it made a very noticeable difference . A much softer flexible ride on and off road. They improved articulation helping all 4 wheels to stay in contact with the ground .
I though Parabolics were the best thing since sliced bread when I put them on my series 3. She has long gone as I was getting to old to be driving a tractor with a bad back. My Patrol has diff locks which are now my favorite thing. Great vids. Have a good Xmas ATB from the UK.
Hi Hayden, another great video, I hope the new suspension goes well for you on tne longer trip and all you may get up to, I think your LR goes better than mates Toyota, I would like to wish you and your family all the bedt for Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year, bedt regards from a ChCh lad now living in Melbourne.
I’m going to put those long travel shocks on my S3 which has parabolic springs, glad to hear they work well although I won’t be doing much off roading in it. Have a great Christmas and new year Hayden. 👍🙂
Hiya Hayden I ran several series IIs & IIA's as a kid. I have a series III but sitting on a RR series I chasis with a 4 inch lift. The coil sprung setup is like night and day compared to the leaves on the Series. BTW why don't you put a sump and a few diff guards on? I speak from exp as i have "holed" my rear diff case yrs ago. And had Happy trails....
New GME Parabolics set me back around NZ$2,000 (£1,000) that includes new U bolts. The shocks where NZ$320 (£160) for all 4. (Britpart cellular dynamics)
Well, the diffs still sit at the same height as before. I'm not sure how much the clearance is. As far as wading depth goes, as long as my snorkel is above water, I'm fine 😄🤣
When fitting parabolics and fancy shocks check if the axle hits bumpstop before your shocks bottom out. The shock mounting locations arnt great on these old land rovers (maybe because they use the same shocks since 1954 lol).

Great vid, have a great Christmas and a happy new year. 👍🎄
Another great wee video, look forward to seeing more Landy adventures next year
This was great fun!
Merry Christmas 🎄!
I love your Series 2 and your adventures. That old gal is capable!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks James !🙏🏽
Merry Christmas to you too.

y SII A 88 petrol just got new springs but your parabolics look very compliant compared to mine. Great driving by the way.
Merry Christmas mate! Looking forward to seeing all the improvements and adventures next year!
Thanks mate. Merry Christmas to you too.
Great video. I am a fan of parabolic springs as well. Almost as good as coils. Merry Christmas to you and looking forward to more videos next year.
Thanks, you too!
We have lots of trips planned for next year.cheers for the support 🙂👍🏽🙏🏽

Good call! Thanks, and same to you.
Great videos, I am considering parabolic on my sub, and wondered if you used the castor correction wedges, or not, I get differing info…
Hey, thanks 😊
No I didn't use any wedges.
So far so good 👍🏼
The ride is a lot better 😁
Your landy looks way more stable now, it used to tip to the side as the old springs didn't flex
Yeah it feels completely different now. Much more pleasurable to drive/4wd in.
Merry Christmas
Same to you 🙏🏽
Good stuff! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas
Love your channel brother
Cheers Mate !

Hey, yeah, I've got some underbody protection and I've thought about diff guards. Maybe one day I'll get some 🙂
Great video 😊
Thanks Ross 👍🏼
Fun wee track that one aye!
Yeah for sure. Perfect spot to have a play and try out new things.
Ground clearance is calculated from the underside of the lowest item under your vehicle to the ground . ie: your rear diff.
Correct. But for this video, I was measuring the distance that would actually change.
Changing suspension won't change the diff height at all.
Did you have trouble with the front drives haft. I've lifted my series2 and now the front shift hit the front crossmember. Great video though
There are no issues so far. My setup isn't standard though.
Toyota engine/gearbox
Which shockies did you use were they for a 2 inch lift?
DC6012 -
Britpart Cellular Dynamic for Land Rover Series 2, 2A & 3
SKU: DC6012.AM
Hope that information helps.
And yes they have longer travel 🙂
Hayden how much was the new suspension set up. TIA.

How much ground clearance do you have? And what would be your maximum wading depth?
Well, the diffs still sit at the same height as before. I'm not sure how much the clearance is.

What size/brand of tire are you running they seem to perform well?
Maxxis razr, 235/85R16.
I'm very impressed with them !!
How was your prop shaft lengths with the lift? I had to add a spacer on my front
Everything appears to be fine. The "lift" wasn't huge, so I can't see there being any issues. 42mm in the rear, 24mm in the front.
I have a land rover freelander, are there many of them in new zealand ?
Yeah, you see them every now and then.
Look like Brithsh Spring or think the call em GM Springs now....had a set on mine 20 years.
What engine have you in it Hayden....dont sound like a 2.25d.
Toyota B
3ltr diesel

Those tracks have been wrecked by massive tyres,it makes it hard on normal ones...
Yeah 😕
Dah man😀💪
Cheers mate 👍🏽 💪🏻
