I wish some entity like The Travel Channel would pick you guys up and give you a series. Would LOVE to see you explore not only the other US states, but other countries!! You produce such incredibly professional videos and such interesting content. Thanks for doing all that you do to bring us to all the mysterious and mind-boggling places in California. :)
Sorry IBM, I don't think that will happen. I think that the Big channels want to start their own shows, hire unheard of people for 'Chump change' and Reap all the Money for themselves! I may be wrong... But I doubt it. In the 21st century, it seems that Money is all that matters. In this modern world, Money and food are more powerful than weapons! Actually I worded that wrong. They are more powerful than 'conventional' weapons, as money and food have become weapons...
Until it appeared on your channel, Bethany and Drew, I had no idea that La Jolla is home to a 'back entrance' to the Pacific Ocean. Curiouser and curiouser! You find and share the neatest places! Thumbs up!
Very cool to re-visit the cave with you! I was born in La Jolla but didn't manage to make it to the cave for more than 40 years. If you ever go back to the area try to go in late summer so you can swim with the leopard sharks at La Jolla Shores!
Just love your videos. Never heard of the Cave store before. And it is totally our type of place. The vlog and history mix is so good. What a truly hidden gem.
This is so cool! Bummer I lived in San Diego for 6 years and didn't know it was there. I love caves. I did go to a cave store/entrance to cave when I lived in Pennsylvania however. Thanks for the fun video!
You guys should do an episode on The Lost Boys Cave located at Hudson's Bluff located in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. It is the cave used for filming that was the location of the vampires in the film The Lost Boys.
Very cool! Amazing to think something that was built into the side of the cliff that long ago is still there; so much erosion has happened in other areas. Thanks for sharing this spot!
Went to Sunny Jim's on Sunday! I was concerned about my wonky knees, but made it with ease. Fun fact....the girl in the gift shop went to the same high school as me! Cool adventure guys😀😀😀
Nice episode ! I enjoy your work :) Have you guys done anything on Ernest E Debs park? - I've been going there recently and there seems to be a few things that makes me think of Oddity Odisseys :) - the "back" park, the pond, the hill next to pond, flying ravens show (hill overlooking DTLA), some of the structures around the park, etc.
I abandoned Kommufornia over a year ago but I sure do like watching your twos stuff. You two show stuff that I hadn't even heard of when I lived all those years in California... Keep up the GREAT work...
Hello Friends! Nice Video! Ya'll sure found a great and interesting place for this one(although You always do!). I always think about how things in California compare with things in Eastern America (that I am really familiar with). I thought of various caves and caverns of the Appalachian/Smoky mountain ranges. I grew up with these and have been in many that were both an organized visit and just kids going into places they shouldn't be in(for safety reasons, not trespassing). When you were telling about the history of that Cave and Stores access, I really almost burst out laughing about it's 'creation'. It could have been anywhere with slightly different wording. This guy came across a cave in a bluff over the ocean. He bought some land above it and told a couple of boys, "Hey, help me dig a hole to up there and I'll give you 20 bucks each!". After the carefully engineered excavation was performed, he said "I'm gonna charge people to go in my hole!". One of the helpers(Now a friend because near death experiences together make strangers into friends) was asking "How you gonna do that? We about got killed a couple of times between the ground sliding and the dang stuff collapsing on Us!". Well, Mr Entrepreneur says "You ought to use your head for something besides a hat-rack! I ain't gonna have folks sliding around on the ground and making my d@mn hole fall in. I'm gonna hang a rope in there!". Helper is like, "That's a Good idea! Yer Smurt!". "You done spent a pile of money on land, tools and hiring Me and Zeke... You buying rope too? You're gonna go broke!". Entrepreneur says "You idiot, I'm gonna charge 50 cents a head for them there folks to climb on my rope!", "They can see the cave and they ain't gotta have No boat. But it'll cost em 50 cent if they wanna use my Hole!"... Yep, Red Neckerson of California. Reminds me of "The Underground Sea" in Tennessee. It is really large and now they have Boat tours of all the underground lake. It is also well over a hundred and fifty steps down. The steps are cut into the rock of the mountain. In it's past an Eastern US redneck had his 'Entrepreneuring' idea that he was opening a Bar! It is naturally climate controlled year round and has that interesting element of being a huge cave, to attract customers. Well he opened the 'Cavern Tavern' and I expect that he made decent enough money for a while but I don't know for sure. Those details of history got overshadowed by him going broke paying off the family of the guy who got killed! I wreckon that the man didn't figure on a drunk guy leaving his bar might slip on one of those 150+ steep stairs trying to get out to go home! That ought to be a DUI defense, "Hell, if I made it up all em steps, I can't be Too drunk Ossiferr."! Yeah, I guess a redneck anywhere is going to come up with an idea to 'make a buck'! Again Nice Video! Ya'll Take Care and be safe, John
Thank you so much guys! Sometimes we get so busy we can’t explore the beauty that is California! I need to get out more!!! ❤❤ i feel like I’m traveling with you😊
We went there last Thursday its a nice place cool to see some waves but $10 a pop is kinda pricey for just little walkway besides you guys make everything look so cool keep it up guys I love your channel I wish you do some other state too then again Cali is big
Is it still 50 cents to go down? What a great spot. This is totally a place I would like to check out. Maybe someday but until then I will watch and enjoy here.
Good Saturday morning once again and thanks! Did you pick up or see any good books from their store about the location? Being 900 miles north, I'm again a bit too distant to get down to another of your super sites. GREAT program!!
@@OddityOdysseys Hey thanks a lot. I'll can try phoning them and see what they say. Most of the places you visit don't have "stores" of course so I'll try it with them. /Harry

Thanks for the fascinating presentation. I've lived in southern California for nearly 65 years but I've never visited this sea cave. There's one of the longest sea caves in the world (one quarter mile long) at the Channel Islands off the coast of Santa Barbara. It can only be accessed by boat and a colony of Sea Lions lives in the distant end. It's an interesting cave because it's a lava tube that was formed by volcanic activity, which accounts for its great size and enormous length. There re a few youtube videos about it. ua-cam.com/video/1n_vQKtW0uc/v-deo.html

I've been in California my whole life and never heard of this cave. Thank you for the video
Absolutely stunning! Added to my bucket list!😁✌️
I've never been in that store or cave before, but I've driven by many times, in my many visits to San Diego and La Jolla. I'll have to go there.
We highly recommend!
Thanks guys for taking us on another great adventure...........

Glad you enjoyed, friend! 🙌❤
Holy Moly... you guys are hitting out of the ballpark!! 👍🏻😎💪🏻
Wow! You did a fantastic job! Thank you for coming in and introducing the cave to your viewers!
If you guys think THAT was tiring, visit the Astoria column in Astoria, Oregon.
You can also drive by the “Goonies” house
Wow this is an amazing spot I would be there often if I live on the area. 👍🏻😷👍🏿🇨🇦🇵🇭🇺🇲
That was a really cool cave! The gift shop looked like it had a lot of cool stuff to buy! Another great video!!
They have such a great selection of fun trinkets to take home!
I am so excited! I love your channel and the cave store is one of my favorite hidden gems in SD. I'm so glad you made this video :^)

I lived there for 14 years and didn’t know about it. But my time was from birth to age 14, so there’s a lot I didn’t hear of.
Nice! You guys find some cool places.👍
To the old locals it's The Shell Shop. There used to be a place to hitch your horses in the front. The cave is a place of more than one secret.

Agreed 💯!!!
Found this channel when you did the "Sermon in Stones" episode. Great stuff.

Kewl! I bet it would be an interesting place to go during a storm.

Way, way back in the day, Art and I would snorkel into those caves when the tide was lower.

Alas, it's no longer 50 cents to explore the cave - It was around $8-$10 when we visited. Such a fun place to check out while in La Jolla.
Excellent video which I enjoyed watching, you find really fascinating places to explore and film.Looking forward to seeing your next video.👍😁😁😁😁😁🚜🇬🇧
Excellent episode!

Good Morning!

Why on Earth would ANYONE leave La Jolla for Los Angeles?
This question was asked several times during filming. 🤣
@@OddityOdysseys I only was there once--I live in Culver City--and I loved it. I'm all in on anything San Diego related.

hello how are doing?
Imagine trying to get a permit nowadays to dig a tunnel to one of the caves. Today people use the word preservation to suffocate imaginations
The name "Sunny Jim" reminds me of a pirate name. To bad there is no lore for it because every great story has a pirate in it. ☠🦜⚓
