One of the bonus features of open gate filming is the option of taking a vertical crop out of the 3:2 frame and still having all the resolution you need for editing. No more re-rigging for vertical. Saves a lot of hassle.
Amazing sensor aside, the camera body and screen falls way short of what the sensor deserves. I own a 6K Pro which is an amazing camera, but usability/form factor and battery life and crappy AF is annoying.
what about the rolling shutter?
Would like to know/see this too!

its an old sony sensor from 2k18 Sony IMX410

The sensor is the IMX 410 from Sony. It's a old sensor used in the a73.
It's also used in many competitor cameras like the z cam f6, f6 pro, Panasonic S1H Panasonic s5ii, etc.
It seems to be the go-to full frame sensor these days and most of these mirrorless cameras.
Blackmagic is rather late to the game using the sensor and all of the other camera manufacturers have had more dynamic range compared to the pocket cameras for over 2 years now. The other cameras at first used to have junk codecs but it seems like that is not the case either.
The Panasonic shoots slightly lower resolution at 5.9 k but I think it might be because of the Ibis.
