I'm the seventies I worked construction down south and on sites radios played all day. Linda was, I think, that Linda was the one artist from both country and rock that would unanimously be listened to. I can still remember framing a building and listening to blue bayou.
+John Brough All ages too.....I was a teenager, she was my favourite female vocalist(still is) and my mom and dad in their mid fifties loved her too....
I don't normally like this kind of thing but she does it so well. It is mostly that peerless voice but strangely she is empathic. They seriously seem like her friends.
Linda had great pipes always surrounded by the best players. These critters are no different right up there with Clarence White, Eagles, Waddy, Jagger, Chuck Berry, Neville, Plácido, Dolly, Emmylou, and Nelson Riddle
Powerhouse is that voice of hers. Someone gave me about 8 DVD's from the Muppet Show for my grand daughter, and this was one of them...even on The Muppets (she loved them), a true pro no matter where she was performing.
Oh, wow. I remember what’s probably her first TV appearance in the 1970s. It was on the syndicated Dolly Parton week-day half-hour show, produced by Gaylord Productions. They had five half-hour shows a week, four featuring a different Country singer, and Friday was focused on the overall Grand Ole Opry at the then-new huge theater and Opryland complex in Nashville. Anyway, near the conclusion of her show one morning, Dolly wanted to introduce a brand-new up-coming gal to the audience. Not to sing, but just for the TV introduction and exposure. It was a smiling and somewhat timid very young Linda Ronstadt , wearing a very simple middle-Tennessee dress. And, mannnnnnn, did she take off from there.
When the performer give their time to PBS and kids shows it give the something more than they could ever have with high pay performances. George Carlin, Ringo and Sweet Linda, matters so much. I'm not sure how other people think but those that love a child are elevated to a way better level. Go Linda. Love you dear. You have used your voice, now use your mind......
Cher is not a great singer she's a fabulous entertainer don't get me wrong I like her I have her greatest hits cd but she's not in the same league as Linda very few female singers are
In her autobiography, Linda relates how she was warned not to kiss Kermit, because her lipstick would stain the green foam permanently and they'd have to make a new frog.
Never thought about that! That’s interesting! Thank you for sharing. I just started reading her book. I’m a huge fan. Love Linda. I wish she could still sing.
I am a huge Linda Ronstadt fan I am also a Black American and I mention that because one of the things that I admire about Linda is when she does a cover of a song done by a black artist she does not try to sound soulful or black she sings with a lot of feeling but gives it her own spin look at how she rocked it hard with Heat Wave
Thanks for posting this. I'm guessing Linda appeared on the Muppets in either seasons 4 or 5 as they are the two seasons that have NOT been released on DVD. Why?
So season four and five of the Muppet Show have never been released by Disney on DVD. Season 5 has Linda while season 4 has the Star Wars episode with Mark Hamill. Apparently there would be royalties involved to certain interests and the first three seasons didn't sell well enough for Disney to have made it worth their while to release the last two. Of course if someone at Disney had half a brain they would have released them after the hugely successful Muppets comeback movie when they would have sold by the swamp load.
Aretha Franklin is the only other singer worth mentioning in the same breath as Linda. They were the two greatest voices in history, though completely different. There are other great singers (perhaps as great) but no other voices are even close to those two.
I don't think so not even close as much as I liked cher am sorry but Linda blows her out of the water !!no disrespect to cher but this is just a fact no one can come close to Linda s voice and range not even the great patsy cline can out sing Linda they are in the same league but I think Linda is in a league of her own when it comes to different style of music I mean she was the rocker queen in the 70 s but she could sing country, soul, pop, opera any genre this is why no one can come close to Linda i love patsy cline, Karen carpenter, dolly parton, Emily harris, Pat Benatar stevie nicks ,tammy wynnete, everyone single one of this ladies are are in the same league as Linda but the difference is Linda can sing in any genre and my that song her own asDolly once said Linda could sing any song and make it her own that is how special linda and how good Linda was God bless all this ladies and God bless you Linda thank you for your amazing all those beautiful songs lol👍💪❤️🙏🙏
My goodness. She can sing with rockers, fiddlers, crooners and critters. Her voice is so pure and clear.
Agreed. This beautiful lady can sing ANYTHING......the female version of Elvis.
Definitely one of the best voices of all time.
Linda Ronstadt’s duet with the great Phoebe Snow was THE best rendition of this song…..ever.
Every once in a while God looked down and said, "I'm going to bless this person with a gift". And Linda was one of those people.
The fact that spotify brought me here makes me happy yayy
It had to be him.
ever time I see another one of her performances.. I am blown away by her talent.
Great set of pipes. The last of the pure vocalists. Charmed and enchanting.
amen to that !
My favorite female vocalist.
The last one, can't agree with that.
I could listen to Linda sing all day and night.
I basically do! 😅 it's always Linda when I wake up, and before I go to bed
Same for me ladies and will be ever more. Overjoyed to see all the Ronstadt "reaction" and "cover videos" made by young people.
Her voice is amazing here, so powerful. She did this one on Saturday Night Live too, she should have done it on one of her albums.
Yes, Stan, with Phoebe Snow. Their joy in singing this together was palpable!
Yep, I wish she would've. Linda's version knocks Cher's out of the park.
She made any song better.
@@bigd1345 and whilst being backed up by muppets to boot...
God she could sing. Even this little number was absolutely incredible!!
Aretha and Linda .. greatest female vocalists of all time, no one else even close
This is a BIG SMILE!
There will never come another Linda.
Linda - just being the greatest female vocalist with a bunch of gal pals.
Linda's affection for the frog is well known. Obviously she was really into Kermit. Man she sounds superb here and so adorable to look at.
Linda should have done more with the muppets, because this may be the best singing I've ever heard from her.
Best. Rendition of this song! Love it when she growls!
Every song this gorgeous lady sings becomes hers, fabulous and I’ve loved her for years.
I never knew she sang this song, great job !!!!
rsgleason she doesn’t sing the original
One of the sweetest. Definitely. No doubt!
Linda's rendition of Betty Everett's song is really outstanding !
Linda is so lovely such a great voice😄👍💕🎵
Wow. Ronstadt comes on like a thundering lighting bolt with that powerhouse voice !
Wow and Wow. Greatest pipes.
I don't normally like this kind of thing but she does it so well. It is mostly that peerless voice but strangely she is empathic. They seriously seem like her friends.
That great voice lost now forever. At least we still have recordings of her great voice.
Linda had great pipes always surrounded by the best players. These critters are no different right up there with Clarence White, Eagles, Waddy, Jagger, Chuck Berry, Neville, Plácido, Dolly, Emmylou, and Nelson Riddle
Goddess! Voice of an Angel touched by God. 💝
the Muppets were her best back up group, this song and Blue Bayu are both excellent.
Well, the Eagles were pretty good.
Can not listen to Blue Bayou without hearing frogs ribbeting in the background!
Perfect song for Linda! Thanks for sharing
Powerhouse is that voice of hers. Someone gave me about 8 DVD's from the Muppet Show for my grand daughter, and this was one of them...even on The Muppets (she loved them), a true pro no matter where she was performing.
I loved her mariachi lp....this is a great rendition to the original...oh and the Muppets were having fun lol
Oh, wow. I remember what’s probably her first TV appearance in the 1970s. It was on the syndicated Dolly Parton week-day half-hour show, produced by Gaylord Productions. And, mannnnnnn, did she take off from there.
Actually Johnny Cash had Linda on his show in the 60s.
Hope someone can dig that out of the archives!
I adore Linda Ronstadt she's right up there with Dionne Wsrwick and Etta James as one of my favorite female vocalists
oh wow...
i saw this when it aired
i remember thinking 'they should release this'
Watched the documentary and had to listen to the whole song, happy ears.
Except this is primetime for the muppet show
Damn she belts it out
Love you Linda.
Still listening in august 2024! Anyone else?
Thank You for sharing. Have a fantastic day
brings out the fairy in me....soooo adorable!!!
Linda ronstad si que cantaba bien
Very nice.
セサミストリート‼yeah❗日本でも大人気さ👍 えっ?違う?
I had the biggest crush on Linda..thks for posting...
Beautiful woman
what a voice
A-Mazing. No question that she absolutely blows Cher into the weeds on this one. It's not even close.
Cher is not a great singer she's a fabulous entertainer don't get me wrong I like her I have her greatest hits cd but she's not in the same league as Linda very few female singers are
I adore this. It' too fun!
Or miss piggy might take her out :-)
WOW, how great was that.
Every song she sings comes natural to her
Awwwww loved this favorite song and the Muppet's ..
She so gorgeous, that smile melts my soul.
One of the best voices of all time.....
Haha go Janice!! Pinching a solo
Thank you.
Nice.
she had very pretty voice
With a voice like that no need for over souling.
I am a huge Linda Ronstadt fan I am also a Black American and I mention that because one of the things that I admire about Linda is when she does a cover of a song done by a black artist she does not try to sound soulful or black she sings with a lot of feeling but gives it her own spin look at how she rocked it hard with Heat Wave
i had to fav even though im only a preteen i just love muppets and linda!
Thanks for posting this. I'm guessing Linda appeared on the Muppets in either seasons 4 or 5 as they are the two seasons that have NOT been released on DVD. Why?
Was this from before Cher had a hit with this cover in 1991? Linda is beautiful and does it just as good as her's was.
A good 11 years before.
+MediaLover194 Thanks, that's cool. I wonder why it wasn't a major hit (1980 was still in her superstar years).
+JPMcFly1985Two She never recorded it !I think if she recorded this and First Cut is the Deepest they would have been massive hits for her.
Just as good?
Cher gets to 1st base maybe,
Linda knocks it out of the park.
Yeh, she did and that was good too. I usually hate "cute" but like this and "Blue Bayou" too.
Her and Phoebe Snow turned it out on Saturday Night Live
This was long before Cher°
And long after Betty Everett.
And Merry Clayton who recorded it before Betty:)
I AGREE 100&
Cher had a #1 hit with a cover of this song in 1990 -- but IMHO, Linda Ronstadt does it better here. It makes me so sad that she cannot sing any more.
Oh Linda please lend me those pipes!
Some Muppetts have all the luck
She also did Blue Bayou on this show.
So season four and five of the Muppet Show have never been released by Disney on DVD. Season 5 has Linda while season 4 has the Star Wars episode with Mark Hamill. Apparently Rick Santorum's concerns about frog-on-girl action weren't as overwrought as everyone initially believed.
Remember when the Muppets were on that Linda Ronstadt gig?
Dit is mijn vrouwte
I did not know that UFC fighter Cyborg on lindas left as we see it was a muppet back in the day.
Kiss.
What year is this from?? I'm guessing mid-late 80s?
It was just after her Mad Love tour, so I would say late 1980, possibly 1981.
Funny--but nice!
Better that Cher's cover IMHO
She's singing CHER's hit from the great flick "Mermaids"
This is from circa 1979, about a decade before Cher did her version. Both are good tho.
Actually this is a 60s song before all that but I love Linda on this.
Linda almost broke the microphone
Rush Limbaugh put the bad mouth on her so I missed a lot of her in the 1900 but I am catching up great lady
Ok she is good but let's not forget about Aretha Franklin's version
Aretha Franklin is the only other singer worth mentioning in the same breath as Linda. They were the two greatest voices in history, though completely different. There are other great singers (perhaps as great) but no other voices are even close to those two.
No one can deny aretha franklin voice but Linda is a league of her own !!
@@jondavwal13don’t forget Karen, who was also top tier phenomenal
This is great but Betty Everett's version is the best. And she was as good a singer as Linda.
0 dislikes beetches
Now give me a kiss. Now go clean yourself up
B
Cher does a better rendition
