I've been running one of those Great Day two gun racks in my pickup for a couple three years. Great rack. Nice and solid. Mine sits up real close and touching the headliner fabric. I removed it today, and found the bolt hex heads that hold the two outriggers was rubbing on the headliner. Rubbed through to the board. So, I replaced those two with some carriage bolts. The outriggers are aluminum, so i just drove the carriage bolts into it, and re-nutted it to the crossbar with the same locknuts. I keep my truck gun in it all the time, and my hunting rifle goes in the back when I'm taking it out. No head clearance problems. Thanks for the great video.
I originally was looking for a stand-up mount behind the center console, but with my truck being lifted and darkened windows, I believe this will be the better mount for my 2020 GMC Sierra 4X4. Thanks for posting it and I'm also glad to see that you changed up to a one gun mount b/c I was curious if the two gun mount might be a little uncomfortable for my hard head. STAY ALERT, STAY ALIVE! We are our own first responders. Always be prepared.
Good reviews. I bought the Decker system based on your video. Got mine at a big box home improvement store so I didn’t have to deal with the freight companies. Your review on this rack is the only one I could find that shows someone pulling tension on the bar to show it’s sturdy.

I like it. One thing you could add is those old style BMX handle bar pads we used as kids and wrap it over the metal behind your head i case you are flying over a big dirt mound in truck so you’re head stays clean no blood.
Sweet rack, a couple things I would do is I’d change those hex nuts to cap nuts, they are dome shaped, and I would also go to a plumbing supply house and buy some 1 1/4 black pipe insulation just for safety purposes. Other than that it looks good!

That was my first thought! He could probably get the bars to go over the top and make it super tight to the roof, but if he has to go under the mounting bar it would still sit a few inches higher!

Put 1 or 2 self tappers in the upright pillars for those paddles to rest on. Trust me! Then tighten up those middle nuts more and the rack will rise up and hug the ceiling giving more head space. These are awesome!!
Be damned careful with an overhead gun rack! The PA State Police used overhead gun racks in their cruisers and in a couple of incidents... the trooper Bell incident being the most well-known, a motorist rear-ended the trooper's cruiser and the rifle dislodged during the collision and struck the troopers in the back of the head, killing them. If you have an overhead mount, make sure the gun has to be removed TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, so it can't become a "club to the head" in an accident.

I totally recommend the gun rack to everyone that wish to carry coupe of rifles with them in their trucks. I have one in my truck, and I am happy with it. I carry walking sticks and other survival stuff if I don't have my rifles in the rack. Good review on this rack, great job!
it's probably been posted but why not move the square tubing on top of the flat plat on either end. That should raise the guns up 1". The flat bar holding the gun brackets would also be pushed up against the head liner stabilizing them (cut down on the rattle). You could also drill new holes in the flat bar off set from center to move the front gun towards the rear a little. I'd say that gun mount is a universal mount which probably fits a variety of trucks.
I was thinking of same thing and flip the actual holders so they are above the support beam so the actual gun holders are completely between the bar and the headliner
Interesting setup. Subbed. I’ve had mixed results with Velcro holding under a severe knock. A rubber strap that you could hook would have been a better design in that unit.

I have a nice old school shotgun/rifle rack from the P.D. I used to love them because they were easy to use and were even electronically activated with a hideaway by the seat. Bad thing is, it can easily be opened with a handcuff key :(

i love my rack like this. it holds two heavy rifles well. two years ago i was rearended on some ice. it stayed put and didnt move. mine is in the center two holes for the gun holders. i guess you noticed one side is barrel to left and other side barrel to the right. i acutally put my square tube on top of the forks on the side and it sits really snug to the roof line. i have had it on a 08 chevy and 16 f150. great video.

I like the gun rack but usually keep mine in the back seat. Then put it in a backpack when I leave the vehicle. My truck gun collapses down to 18 inches. 300 blackout is great for shorty truck guns. But I really like the pistol mount. Going to pick one up. First time watcher and new subscriber here.

I have a Great Day rifle rack in my jeep. I didn’t like those cradles that came on it so I removed them and replaced them with some atv gun mount cradles that mounted on the Great Day bar. In my jeep the mount is a little different as it mounts between my roll bar so I have it mounted as far forward and still be able to flip down my sun visors. I use it for my hog hunting AK and it works great.

Bough 2 of each. Been looking for something like this. Different brand pistol mount wouldn't hold over minor bumps. The COJO looks like it'll do the job, especially if it'll hold your 1911 "hog" backup.
My concern with the magnet piece of kit, and the the over head system would be a collision or roll-over, in addition to airbags if equipped in the pillars. After a year, how has the over head system been?
Yea those are valid concerns for sure. It’s been great so far, not one issue with it. And I’ve never had the pistol come off the magnet either, but I’ve also never been in a wreck with it. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

You need to flip those mounts around to where the rifles are closer the the roof. That way you have more head clearance

I’ve never had anything said to me about it. Last time I got pulled over I told the dude where it was and he thanked me lol. Everyone down south packing. And in Louisiana they consider your vehicle an extension of you home, so I can Carry fire arms anytime inside. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

i love my rack like this. it holds two heavy rifles well. two years ago i was rearended on some ice. it stayed put and didnt move. mine is in the center two holes for the gun holders. i guess you noticed one side is barrel to left and other side barrel to the right. i acutally put my square tube on top of the forks on the side and it sits really snug to the roof line. i have had it on a 08 chevy and 16 f150. great video.

I like the gun rack but usually keep mine in the back seat. Then put it in a backpack when I leave the vehicle. My truck gun collapses down to 18 inches. 300 blackout is great for shorty truck guns. But I really like the pistol mount. Going to pick one up. First time watcher and new subscriber here.

I have a Great Day rifle rack in my jeep. I didn’t like those cradles that came on it so I removed them and replaced them with some atv gun mount cradles that mounted on the Great Day bar. In my jeep the mount is a little different as it mounts between my roll bar so I have it mounted as far forward and still be able to flip down my sun visors. I use it for my hog hunting AK and it works great.

It’s a Colt M4. Stock upper and lower. Unless you are talking about the grip, it’s a magpul grib. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

Bough 2 of each. Been looking for something like this. Different brand pistol mount wouldn't hold over minor bumps. The COJO looks like it'll do the job, especially if it'll hold your 1911 "hog" backup.
My concern with the magnet piece of kit, and the the over head system would be a collision or roll-over, in addition to airbags if equipped in the pillars. After a year, how has the over head system been?
Yea those are valid concerns for sure. It’s been great so far, not one issue with it. And I’ve never had the pistol come off the magnet either, but I’ve also never been in a wreck with it. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
