Remember that Howl wasn't perfect though, it was just casualty. Prince Justin was a much better choice I would say lol, but life gave Howl to Sophie and she accepted his flaws ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Of course Howl sacrificed himself and changed for her, which was a noble deed, I can't deny. I believe many people may have some flaws as Howl does and they can't change as a sacrifice for their loved ones, which was my case and I ended up breaking up :

Howl's Moving Castle is probably one of the most underrated of the Studio Ghibli lineup. The film is so subtle, so colorful, that we don't really comprehend what we're watching. Throughout the film, we meet characters whose lives, through circumstance, meets with tragedy. A boy who chances a magical artifact is forced to take up the responsibility of an immortal savior, and thus never gets his chance to experience his lost childhood, growing up. A lady who cross paths with a witch having a bad day is suddenly orphaned, and aged to her nineties, and thus never gets to truly experience her adult life. It's almost as if they had died, and were living in some version of hell, reliving their nightmares over and over again. The film tries to tell us, that it's one's small act of kindness, not delusions of grandeur and greatness, that will change the world. It's Sophie's assistance to a seemingly pointless turnip head scarecrow, him returning to the nation whose military was waging war in his spirit that Howl was trying to stop. The film doesn't end with any of the existential problems solved. The only thing thats changed, is that the realization of Howl and Sophie, that they're not in this fight of life alone. They've each other, and because of that come what may, you'll know they'll be fine. Melancholy, but really reflect our lives doesn't it?

I think the criminally underrated - the ones I didn't know existed but was indescribable with words - were Only Yesterday and Whisper of the Heart. I know they're more on the realistic side, but they were magical in their own way.

I was searching for photos of my childhood yesterday because they ask me to send one for the childrens day at work. I saw a picture of me and my grandpa who passed away a long time ago, I miss him so much, while thinking about him I walked to the window and it smelled like flowers, a very strong fragance, it was so strange, we dont have any plants there and there is no reason for it. Deep down I knew he was still here looking after us. "And in the fragance of flowers, you will live forever"

Im 23 and was diagnosed with stage 5 CKD; my kidneys were 2% functional. I came back from the hospital to binge watch studio ghibli films and listen to all my favorite soundtracks. Life seemed short and I want to make the most of it.
I dont know if this will be the good message to you but you know some people live more in 30 years than some other in 100. Take all the good stuffs life can give you. Enjoy all the miracles our planet can give. And suddenly even the difficult lives become wonderful. May you be always happy and blessed.
I just watched it today for the first time, and wow. I'm so deeply in love, I know for a fact this is one of those movies I'll watch for the sole reason to feel comfort, to just feel full to forget about my surroundings for a little while. Aaaahhhhh

Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away are movies forever embedded in my mind. Listening to the music engulfs me in all these emotions that I actually physically feel in my chest. The movies deliver such wonderfully beautiful stories and characters that I’ve fallen in love with. I care for these fictional characters, they hold a place in my heart. Here I proclaim my immense love for these incredible creations, creations that have filled me with all sorts of pleasant feelings and created memories I enjoy looking back on. There hasn’t been anything else that fills me with the same sense of joy and immerses me in the story as much as the two movies have. This may be a bit excessive but it’s actually not, I truly utterly ahhhh!! Thank you Studio Ghibli, thank you for the experiences you gave me.
I completely agree. There is just something more that comes with a studio ghibli movie. Calling it a movie doesn’t do them all justice, because it’s an experience. Something that you always remember and that you wish you could experience one more time
When they make that Studio Ghibli theme park, i truly hope they recreate the field in the picture. Have a few benches, and just play Promise of the World.

I love how the first line goes "The smile that trembles deep behind your tears", usually the quotes/sayings go "the tears behind your smile". It goes to show that the world promises us that no matter how dark the situation we are in, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. No matter how sad or in pain we are today, eventually we will be happy again.

I find it funny that no one mentions Shuntaro Tanikawa who wrote this song. He is literally a decorated poet who has been a strong contender for Nobel Prize. The reason the song is so good is because of his lyrics/poem.
lemme tell you something... i've watched and rewatched howl's moving castle so many times for just one reason: the ost. this strange feeling would always haunt me while watching it but i was never able to understand what the story is truly about or what kind of message it's trying to pass. but yesterday, while i was by my own, i decided to rewatch the movie one more time and i finally, after so much time, was able to understand it and that weird feeling within me; now, such movie has become my fav of all time. i'm so greatfull for have had such a wonderful experience with it.
this movie gave me such a big sensation of peace that I started crying out of nowhere but with a smile on my face, I won't describe the movie as incredible, it was just peaceful, calm, and beautiful, like watching something so pretty that you just have to lay down an smile because it's so peaceful, not to be something out of the ordinary and incredible but something that makes you feel ok with yourself like there's nothing wrong with your life or the world.
I don't know why but whenever i listen to this song i feel depth of sadness like the singer is delivering immense amount of emotions. And also that howl and Sophie lived happily ever after.. like it is a song of goodbye.

Rewatched this movie for new year's eve with my mother and little sister. It's the kind of movie that's full of mystery and so much emotion it doesn't seem to end. And in a good way. You're confused and lost sometimes, you get bursts of laughter and some heart wrenching moments but it still seems like someone retelling you a story of their life or you living it with them. It's one of those movies you can watch an infinite amount of times and with anyone yet it still has this magic to it. It's beautiful.
Such a beautiful piece of music and art. What I love most about Studio Ghibli is that the movies convey some feelings that I've never felt before when I watch movies. The feels, the animation, the music, the settings (particularly this one) is just so vibrant and amazing to look at. You can honestly take a screenshot of any second of a studio ghibli film and call it a work of art, it's that good! I got the chance to catch Howl's Moving Castle on the big screen yesterday for it's 20th anniversary, and boy does it help make watching the film to be such a wonderful experience. Boy did I have a big smile on my face when the audience clapped once the credits rolled. There's just something truly special about Studio Ghibli that many other animation studios struggle with. I am beyond happy to get the chance to experience these films over and over. They truly are one of a kind.

I agree. I never watched this movie until last week. It was breathtaking and beautiful. It made me feel emotions like no other, like I was in a world of my own right next to the castle and it’s family. Then the movie ended and just tears flowed from my eyes. I’ve re watched it so manu times throughout the week and I still have the same reaction to the ending, I hope it never goes away as I’m slowly falling into love with this beautiful movie, hoping to read the books asap
The books are... not as Ghibli, if ya get my meaning. They're sarcastic, funny, poignant in a way, but they don't have that sorta Ghibli essence. Not to discourage you from reading them, i love them, just telling you what to expect.
Every time I hear those first few notes- without fail- I feel all the tension go out of my body, my eyes tear up, I smile, and I get chills.. Listening to Studio Ghibli music feels like coming home. It's this bittersweet mixture of nostalgia, sadness, comfort, and hope. I feel very lucky to have grown up on these movies. :)

The ending wasn't bad, yeah it's a happy ending. But after I realized all the plot twist, rewatched it 4 times, I cried. I didn't like the fact that the movie was ending. It felt like there's more that should happen. Watching the movie made me realize I will never find anyone just like Howl, you don't know, I'm really desparate for love affection, I haven't felt one for a while, I'm just really craving it.

Studio Gibli made lots of phenomenal movies but Howl's Moving Castle is one that I'll treasure the most. Maybe its the fact that english Howl is voiced by Batman and I find that funny. Something interesting about this song, with such a happy ending. I actually took my grandparents to see Howl's Moving Castle that was showing because my grandma was just bugging me to go to the movies since it had been a while since I did so with her or my Granddad (and even since the Pandemic). I decided to take time out of my busy schedule when I wasn't at work. I was worried they wouldn't like it, but they thought it was a pretty good movie (my grandparents both read a lot of science fiction and fantasy books). It was something that wasn't too Japanese to make them confused or unable to follow, and in English dubbed, and at the end, my grandmother said she liked that song. She liked the song so much she asked me to find out what they were saying and what the name of it was. And she said the song had such a beautiful melody that she wanted to stay in the theater to listen to it. I think it was a good choice and a good day.

Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away are movies forever embedded in my mind. Listening to the music engulfs me in all these emotions that I actually physically feel in my chest. The movies deliver such wonderfully beautiful stories and characters that I’ve fallen in love with. I care for these fictional characters, they hold a place in my heart. Here I proclaim my immense love for these incredible creations, creations that have filled me with all sorts of pleasant feelings and created memories I enjoy looking back on. There hasn’t been anything else that fills me with the same sense of joy and immerses me in the story as much as the two movies have. This may be a bit excessive but it’s actually not, I truly utterly ahhhh!!

It goes to show that the world promises us that no matter how dark the situation we are in, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. No matter how sad or in pain we are today, eventually we will be happy again.

lemme tell you something... i've watched and rewatched howl's moving castle so many times for just one reason: the ost. this strange feeling would always haunt me while watching it but i was never able to understand what the story is truly about or what kind of message it's trying to pass. but yesterday, while i was by my own, i decided to rewatch the movie one more time and i finally, after so much time, was able to understand it and that weird feeling within me; now, such movie has become my fav of all time. i'm so greatfull for have had such a wonderful experience with it.

Rewatched this movie for new year's eve with my mother and little sister. It's the kind of movie that's full of mystery and so much emotion it doesn't seem to end. And in a good way. You're confused and lost sometimes, you get bursts of laughter and some heart wrenching moments but it still seems like someone retelling you a story of their life or you living it with them.
It's one of those movies you can watch an infinite amount of times and with anyone yet it still has this magic to it.

Such a beautiful piece of music and art. What I love most about Studio Ghibli is that the movies convey some feelings that I've never felt before when I watch movies. The feels, the animation, the music, the settings (particularly this one) is just so vibrant and amazing to look at. You can honestly take a screenshot of any second of a studio ghibli film and call it a work of art, it's that good! I got the chance to catch Howl's Moving Castle on the big screen yesterday for it's 20th anniversary, and boy does it help make watching the film to be such a wonderful experience. Boy did I have a big smile on my face when the audience clapped once the credits rolled. There's just something truly special about Studio Ghibli that many other animation studios struggle with. I am beyond happy to get the chance to experience these films over and over. They truly are one of a kind.

Once I was finished watching it I felt so empty and I felt like there was nothing else for me to do except for fantasize about it or watch it again or simply watch UA-cam videos about it. I agree. I never watched this movie until last week. It was breathtaking and beautiful. It made me feel emotions like no other, like I was in a world of my own right next to the castle and it’s family. Then the movie ended and just tears flowed from my eyes. I’ve re watched it so manu times throughout the week and I still have the same reaction to the ending, I hope it never goes away as I’m slowly falling into love with this beautiful movie, hoping to read the books asap

The books are... not as Ghibli, if ya get my meaning. They're sarcastic, funny, poignant in a way, but they don't have that sorta Ghibli essence. Not to discourage you from reading them, i love them, just telling you what to expect.

Every time I hear those first few notes- without fail- I feel all the tension go out of my body, my eyes tear up, I smile, and I get chills.. Listening to Studio Ghibli music feels like coming home. It's this bittersweet mixture of nostalgia, sadness, comfort, and hope. I feel very lucky to have grown up on these movies. :)

Hoel's Moving Castle is truly one of the most heart-warming anime films ever.

The ending wasn't bad, yeah it's a happy ending. But after I realized all the plot twist, rewatched it 4 times, I cried. I didn't like the fact that the movie was ending. It felt like there's more that should happen. Watching the movie made me realize I will never find anyone just like Howl, you don't know, I'm really desparate for love affection, I haven't felt one for a while, I'm just really craving it.

Studio Gibli made lots of phenomenal movies but Howl's Moving Castle is one that I'll treasure the most. Maybe its the fact that english Howl is voiced by Batman and I find that funny. Or maybe it's the memorable lines and moments in the movie that I'll never forget. Its just... an unforgettable feeling after watching it the first time.

I actually took my grandparents to see Howl's Moving Castle that was showing because my grandma was just bugging me to go to the movies since it had been a while since I did so with her or my Granddad (and even since the Pandemic). I decided to take time out of my busy schedule when I wasn't at work. I was worried they wouldn't like it, but they thought it was a pretty good movie (my grandparents both read a lot of science fiction and fantasy books). It was something that wasn't too Japanese to make them confused or unable to follow, and in English dubbed, and at the end, my grandmother said she liked that song. She liked the song so much she asked me to find out what they were saying and what the name of it was. And she said the song had such a beautiful melody that she wanted to stay in the theater to listen to it.
I think it was a good choice and a good day.
