  • VLOG #43
    Cycling to help my head.
So it’s been a rubbish week off as to weather and seems my head is not in the right place. Felt down most of the week, trouble with my Bikes, spent a fortune on my car and still cant seem to just get on my bike worry free.
This is mostly proved in the weekend vlog I ended up deleting due to the content was just rubbish!
So I went out on my bike Friday morning and wasn’t feeling great so thought it would be a good head clearer. It was still freezing which put me off and ended up going further than I wanted to as the weather warmed up slightly. Got to Teagether café which pushed me those extra miles and had Latte and cake which is not doing my weight any good.
The ride cleared my head a bit but still had some issues over the weekend and back to work Monday and away this week, OH JOY!
I did some meditations, links below which helped and also had cake, not sure which helped the most, but all 3 would not have made it any worse. Sorry, hopefully get you some better content next weekend.

Cycling is the best treatment for depression I know, although I expect walking in the countryside is just as good. That and taking photographs along the way too - helps me immerse myself in the ride and my surroundings looking for photos to take. The exercise releases endorphins and so on, and it all beats the tablets I'm on hands down!
Disguise is a great way to describe the front we put on to other people. The best compliment I get is people saying they didn't know I was ill and always seemed happy. It does wear me out though putting on 'the act' day after day.
Ha! Twice now I've got really frustrated with myself (ok, riding isn't always so calming!) by getting lost, or in my case, not being on the road I thought I was. (the latest was just last Saturday) Both times though involved parallel running lanes crossing main roads, and I was on the lower lane when I wanted to be on the upper lane. Doh!
I say to anyone feeling low, leave all the GPS/Strava technology at home, switch off your phone and just go and tootle about in the countryside on your bike. Look at the views, smell the wild flowers, go and say hello to a horse and all that kind of thing.
Go early and you might see the night shift on their way home - Deer, Badgers, Foxes and so on - always a special moment that is. Riding very early, preferably out just before dawn - what a great time to be out on a bike that is.
Just chill out basically - it really does work wonders and the countryside is free and comes with no side effects, other than the odd country dumpling (cow pat) on your tyres.
It's a great time of year to be out mooching about in the lanes, in woods or on Bridleways, the wild flowers look amazing right now, even though I don't know what half of them are (and it doesn't matter anyway!).
Mindfulness is what it's all about for me.
Anyway, I've waffled and rambled on again - good video once again James!

Mick S your welcome to ramble on when ever you feel like it. Thank you for your comment, really appreciate the advise and feedback. I’d say keep smiling, but then we do anyway😁😉👍🏻

Cycling creates that ‘buzz’, that clears the head of fuzz. This gives space for thought, to think troubles through to their conclusion. No more confusion.

No need to apologise at all! Could do with clearing me head. Up north sportive last Saturday 50 miler only made it to first feed station at 22miles ish and had to be rescued and taken back to Ilkley. Ankle issues couldn't put my foot on the floor it was so painful! Felt really meh about it. 😣

Beverley Murray sorry to hear you had an injury, but well done for doing the 20plus Miles. The north is full of hills and I’d expect you manage some climbing in those miles. I hope your ankle feels better soon and thank you as always😊

Dont ever apologise mukka it is what it is, we are all human. Got a few issues going on of late myself, not rode as much as I need to. That's where I go wrong. JUST GET ON THE BLOODY BIKE BOB. 🤔🤔

    • @JamesSocialCycling
      @JamesSocialCycling  5 років тому +1

Robert Bond cheers bob appreciated😉 As I said do what you can and don’t get caught up in the world of Strava, if you’ve got time for 5mls then get out and do it, it’s better than bugga all. If it’s motivation you need just remind yourself how much you spent😁😉👍🏻

@@JamesSocialCycling never a true word. Life gets in the way sometimes, but the benefits of riding far outweigh the monotony of not doing so. Been to the gym today with my mate, feel good but can barely walk, God help me tomorrow. 😂😂
