I was just walking back to my apartment, thinking about how I want to raise children when I become a parent, if I get to be one. I thought and said "God I want you to help me in this process, I don't want to decide how to raise kids with my limited mind alone." A few minutes later I walk in and open UA-cam, this was the first video that popped up on my recommended. Anyhow, Been watching these videos for a while and I just want to say I appreciate them.

Sir, I’ve seen many clips of your videos! I’m a veteran who suffers from ptsd military/civilian. I came across you by accident, but the words that come out your mouth touched me. There’s lots of subjects you touch on, that incite memories of how I’ve dealt with things in the past. Your words are more meaningful than you know. They have consoled me on bad days, and made me think of my actions and behaviors. Thank you for bringing up that a man can be emotional. I look forward to more videos and wisdom from you! Thank you for the recommendation. I’m 19yo and all I do with my time since I was 14 is listen to audiobooks while working. I was never good in school because of my dyslexia even tho I had probably read more books than all the teachers fresh out of college. Reading is magical to me and expands the mind in every way and has always been my #1 past time. Grew up on family ranches in Texas and utah out of reach of technology like everyone else my age which I am so unbelievably grateful for. Growing up I never played video games I was out in my grandpas blacksmith shop working and listening to book after book. Now I work 12h a day on the ocean listening to a book every second of the day and I can never get bored of it no matter the literature. I wanted to say this as well but thank you for all the motivational videos you make on how a man should be and think. Some day I hope to have your mindset and demeanor towards life… I just got unengaged on new years and your videos helped me view everything with clarity and come to terms. I actually just got a job on a ranch near Jackson lake Wyoming as a horse wrangler as a way to go figure out who I really am and get back in touch with my roots and heritage… Your one of the only people I use UA-cam for so keep up the awesome videos!

I’m going to take my kiddo into town to the used book store in search of a few of these recommendations. I know I could just click and wait for it but I think this way would be much more meaningful. Thanks Dewayne!

You’re a good man, Dewayne, and you give good recommendations tempered by your wisdom and experience. I’d like to offer you a book recommendation that, if you haven’t already read, might speak to your taste. Give Your Heart to the Hawks by Win Blevins. It’s a book of short stories about the first Mountain Men. It’s embellished but historically accurate. In his introduction, he says the breathtaking thing about the mountain men is that the stories are true. I hope to meet and smoke a cigar with you in the coming years. Congratulations on all your successes.

Good recommendation, and yes, we'd love for you to continue this! I'm 23, and over the past year have rediscovered how much I love to read. It's easy to consume our time with social media, and when I turned 18 and got a cellphone, it quickly replaced my reading time. I love listening to podcasts or watching channels like yours while working around the house, but when dinner is done and the evening comes, I read and write

Hi Dewayne, I just wanted to say that I love your videos!
Even though an ocean and about thirty years of age divides us, we have a lot of shared values. I take to heart your view on things. Every one of your videos sheds a light on important topics from your perspective, one that we don’t hear enough.
I have always been keen on listening to stories of experience from - to me - older folk. From a young age, I would stay around adult conversations and absorb what was being said. And I just love listening to your stories!
My father used to read to me and my siblings every night, and he still does sometimes when we go on vacation together. He must have read at least a hundred books to us: first children’s books (amongst which The Jungle Book), but later novels like The Long Ships and The Hobbit. I cannot stress enough how much I love it, and I know that one day, I will read to my children as well.
I am very thankful for my education: my parents were never unfair, explained all kinds of scientific curiosities, took me on hikes, and read to me almost every night.
Please know that your lessons are being heard, and that your channel is my favourite on UA-cam.
Sending you love, and wishing you the best of luck forward.

Dewayne, you are blessed to have been able to read to your children and I hope this experience created lasting memories that also created readers in your children.
When my twin brother and I were young children in the late 1960's and early 1970's, my Dad, who has a wonderful reading voice, used to work late into the evening and wouldn't be home by our early bedtime. There were times he would read to us, but he eventually got the bright idea to tape himself reading these books to us, and then our Mom would play the tapes back as she pointed along in the book to Dad's voice. So I grew up with a love of entertaining stories. Comes my age getting around 7 to 10 years old and my Dad would set up late with me after he came home from work and I would read books to him, just the two of us in his bed. I read the series on Doctor Dolittle and a few other books. But my favorite book of that time was Rudyard Kipling's "Captains Courageous." Of course I had seen the 1937 film of the same name with Freddie Bartholomew as at first annoying "Harvey Cheyne," Spencer Tracy as the affable and thoughtful "Manuel Fidello," and the crusty but loving and wise Lionel Barrymore as "Captain Disko Troop." I read that book with my Dad and loved every second of the adventure. I have yet to read other books by Kipling, but I have read the poem about "Gunga Din" (as well as saw the 1939 film -- a magical year for film), and looked at parts of "The Man Who Would Be King," which the 1975 film (that I saw when it came out in the theater) is fairly faithful to, and saw of course the cartoon for "Riki Tiki Tavi" and the various incarnations of "The Jungle Book," especially with Sabu. I guess that's why I became a librarian and have a large personal library. Keep on reading, and keep on buying books or borrowing them from the library!

My book recommendation, something from the past few months, "Woman of the Boundary Waters" by Justine Kerfoot. Great humor, wonderful stories, and a good book for winter.

It’d be very helpful to your horse community followers if you could talk about your feeding routine to prepare your horses for a WY winter and also what you feed, how often, etc to keep them fat during the winter. Coming from Florida and moving to Washington state-so I want to know what to expect 😊
