There are a couple of reasons you might want an arp plugin. Really, the same reasons apply to hardware arps as well. Standalone arps often have more patterns and features than the arps included in plugins or in a DAW. The arp within FL Studio is pretty basic, for example. Another reason for using a separate ARP is that even though some plugins have there own ARP, some do not and if you use an arp within a plugin, you have to learn how to program a separate ARP for each plugin, where as is you use an external ARP or the DAW's ARP, you only have to learn one ARP. BlueArp is also both an arpeggiator and a sequencer. An arpeggiator usually just runs through the notes in a chord in a simple pattern in order up, down or up and back down. A sequencer has the ability to do customized patterns and create patterns based on either chords or single notes.
