one important thing you missed I think : once you get settings the way you like them in "live" mode , you long press (hold) one of the three buttons and it saves the current live settings to that preset
I ended up buying a second one when I thought I had broken my first lol. For that reason above. I gave away the second one on the channel, and a few more a few months later. Thanks for pointing it out, I think I did cover it in this one but possibly one of the others about this piece. It was tricky to figure that out and I hope others can. 👍🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for the tutorial. I watched while mine was on order. It came super fast from Amazon. I (literally!) programmed three channels the way I wanted them (clean/spacey, light-overdrive, lead-distortion). Literally, had my three sounds and was testing into my PA through a DI box in a few minutes. So incredibly simple. TBH, I bought one as an emergency backup in case my digital modeling amp fritzes out during a gig - I can plug this in and keep going. $40-ish for peace of mind is priceless.
I can do a follow up with this unit for that. I can’t access the software to change IR files, it isn’t working with my latest software update. But I can do something that focuses on the cleaner sounds of this. There are not many, but there are a couple of useable ones. I will say, the chorus is very, very strong in the mix and hard to blend in subtly. It is an on or off thing, practically from 0-2 on the knob.
@@DoubleDguitar thank you for that but based on your response it sounds like these are geared towards heavier sounds and not the blues, rockabilly and surf guitar like myself. Just keep hoping I guess.

Thanks for the great overview. I received mine yesterday and I am still learning how to navigate. For the presets, one thing I saw you can do is load the Cube Baby software application and it shows you the details of the 3 stored presets and their settings. So I made screenshots of the settings and saved them as images in the event I ever want to re-create the preset or use it as a base for a new one. Still a manual process to manage them, but it's at least a visual way to keep track of what was set up at that moment in time.

I've been thinking of needing something this small and compact, but I need to use it for my synths not guitar primarily, both mono and stereo synths. Thx.
Hey man, that’s a good question that I had wondered about. You can’t, actually. The usb or Bluetooth audio input goes directly to the output and bypasses all the effects.
Thanks man!! You should be able to, I haven’t tried it that way yet. Bet the manual and site said that would work. I just went 1/4” out into my interface for a lot of this.

@@johnbrafford4140 a couple of things here I should point out. You can still edit and save presets. Hold the two right buttons and you will enter edit mode. I am always trying to reply to help whenever I can!! Thanks for watching. I am pretty sure I hit on this save secretion at some point in the video. I apologize for not having a time stamp for reference at the moment.
It depends, if you can access the CubeSuite program and need a very small but flexible unit, this is a good choice. The XT has a lot of options and sounds and is on actual recordings, so there is always that proven track record. You may be a little bit happier with the Pod, in terms of the amount of options available. Thanks for checking this out!
I downloaded the software, and have downloaded several ir. But when I click to open them from the loader, they are nowhere to be found? Any thoughts on why? The files are THERE, and unzipped, but they won't show up when I looked from the loader.
That is strange, they should be visible from the loader. Maybe try reaching out to their support section on their site? Or possibly try to reinstall the program? I hope you get it sorted.
I figured it out. I needed to copy and paste the files into the cubebsuite folder. If that helps anyone else that might have that issue. Thanks for the reply and the videos you post. 👍

Thanks for checking the video out. I think the reverb tone will not be what you are quite looking for. It comes on very strong and doesn't allow much variety. However, I think you could use this and find a nice mild crunchy sound with some delay that you can clean up with your guitar's volume knob and then add a nicer reverb pedal after this unit.

@@leandrorichard7447 in my opinion of the cube baby, the cleaner the amp setting with your favorite IR can sound pretty good. Higher gain is best gotten with a good pedal plugged into the input. The phaser is ok, but seems too pronounced at most settings. The chorus is really not useable, to my ears. The reverb and delay are pretty good. So a good pedal and download a better IR. But I wouldn’t call the cube baby a professional sounding unit.
Made me hungry. Great explanation, I would not have patience to go thru manual.. But can see the product would be valuable to younger players. Maybe with a handful of dex I could get it down 😋
I had that issue while first trying to learn how to edit. After editing, you should be able to hold down a foot switch and save it to that preset. If you don’t want to save, just tap gently on any of the foot switches and it will get you back to your three saved patches.

You can connect it to change the cabinet IR files. You don’t have to, they all work decently. You can record out from one of the USB ports, as well as from the 1/4” output and even the headphones output! So almost any way you would normally record something, this should work. With the Bluetooth connected to a phone or tablet, the tracks you play along with will be heard through the unit. Thanks for checking out the video and the compliment on it! The manual is crazy funny. Interesting about the low end, I have found many of the cabinet models create almost too much low, for me. But I do prefer real pedals, all around. Sorry you didn't dig it too much.
@@DoubleDguitar your review is EXTREMELY helpful. I'm on my 2nd watch. When I talk about the low end, I can't get that "chug" I need when I play metal. It just sound dampened. @@timl7582 hey thanks man! I appreciate that, a ton. I can see what you mean about getting a real metal sound out of it, and I bet a cheap EQ pedal after would help sculpt a tone you feel is close. As far as saving, it is a little tricky. I was stumped at first, but when you get to the editing section you then make your changes and hold down the switch for a couple of seconds. It will then assign it to that preset switch. But you then have to back out of the editing mode. I can’t remember exactly how I did that, I believe the two right buttons. I touched briefly on this in the video, but I can’t remember the time in the clip that I did. Otherwise I would time stamp it here for you real quick. I gave up on that. But you can save your settings to a button. Then hit the two right ones a couple of times to get out of edit and get to your saved patch. I hope this helps. I am always trying to reply to help whenever I can!! Thanks for watching. I am pretty sure I hit on this save secretion at some point in the video. I apologize for not having a time stamp for reference at the moment.
Do you suggest used pod xt or this? They both are same price in my country.
@@DoubleDguitar thanks for reply 🤘🎸
@@scaksoguk7995 you got it, rock on!
@@timh2348 oh man, thank you for sharing here and also for your kind words. I am glad this channel has helped you and others. I hope anyone else with this issue finds it. All my best, man 🤙🏻
This one or the sugar one thinkin ' in live gigs? 🤔 Tnx from Chile 🇨🇱
I am not sure about the Sugar one. I am going to have a video up in a week or so about the iSet one. They all seem pretty similar.
Thanks for the video. It answered a lot of questions. I am considering buying it, cheers.
It’s a really fun little unit and has some good sounds in it for a really good price. I like it on guitar, but really use it on my Bass VI a lot, for recording. Let me know if you grab one and what you think. 🤘🏻
Thanks for a great video 😊
Thank you for watching! 🤘🏻
Is this good for a church ambient sound?
Thanks for checking the video out. I think the reverb tone will not be what you are quite looking for. It comes on very strong and doesn't allow much variety. However, I think you could use this and find a nice mild crunchy sound with some delay that you can clean up with your guitar's volume knob and then add a nicer reverb pedal after this unit.
@@DoubleDguitar thank you for your response, you earned a subscriber. 🎉
@@kristyanongmusikero1811 hey that is really awesome, thank you!!! I appreciate it and my goal is to try to answer every question that comes up, no matter how old the video. All my best. 🙏🏻
Just get this online used about US20 only. It's tiny & cute but plugged in my NUX Mighty BT20 it's a blast! My son loving it. Cute & compact easily fit in his jeans pockets. Cool guitar effects...
It has a bunch of the essentials, good choice and glad you are digging it! Thanks for checking out the vid🤘🏻
can you tap temp for delay ?
No, you have to use the knob to set the time.
The pedalboard has a professional sound ?
For clean amp, pretty close. Tank G may be better, bow.
@@DoubleDguitar but the tank g is more expensive... you can get professional sound with the ir,?
@@leandrorichard7447 in my opinion of the cube baby, the cleaner the amp setting with your favorite IR can sound pretty good. Higher gain is best gotten with a good pedal plugged into the input. The phaser is ok, but seems too pronounced at most settings. The chorus is really not useable, to my ears. The reverb and delay are pretty good. So a good pedal and download a better IR. But I wouldn’t call the cube baby a professional sounding unit.
Good job getaria Cube baby Love it dan from France
It is a good little unit! Merci d'avoir regardé!
One more sub. That was an awesome and informative review.
Dude, thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. These little cube style pedals are really cool. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Made me hungry. Great explanation, I would not have patience to go thru manual.. But can see the product would be valuable to younger players. Maybe with a handful of dex I could get it down 😋
It is pretty cool, I will be using it at a practice when I finally have a chance. Thanks Dale! Combo units have come a long way.
Is this only for bass guitar?
Nope, works for electric guitar great!
Does anyone know how to get back to preset mode?
I had that issue while first trying to learn how to edit. After editing, you should be able to hold down a foot switch and save it to that preset. If you don’t want to save, just tap gently on any of the foot switches and it will get you back to your three saved patches.
@@DoubleDguitar how do I get the original 3 presets back?
@@DoubleDguitar thanks so much I wanted to get back the 1 setting so I could shred and u helped me thank u air u earned a sib
@@theodddrawer3051 thank you so much, in return! I am glad I could help. This baffled me at first and I thought it was broken and ordered a second one! I ended up giving the second one away when I hit 500 subscribers, and since it worked fine I still have and use the first one. All my best!
thank you very much it was a great review. I just subscribed :)
Thank you and thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. The Cube Baby is a fun unit with a lot of potential, since it can load IRs. All my best!
I just canceled an order for a different cheap multi-effects pedal - because this one has twice the features at half the price. I haven't ordered this one yet, but thanks for the demo
You’re welcome, it is wild how many options they can cram into these things now. Into an amp, it really isn’t bad with some tweaks.
@@DoubleDguitar I've got a tiny battery powered amp I added an extension cab to - it would be a perfect combo for outdoor gigs with no power. The noise on this one scared me at first, but it sounded fine with less distortion
@@thegalagadons9225 yeah some of the higher gain sounds are out of control, but mid and low into an amp, really not bad at all.
So which one did you actually buy?
@@normanselva6397 I got the Cube Baby. I was just waiting for my refund to process for the cancelled one (Valeton MES-6 Dapper Amp Mini). I've already posted a couple of short demo videos - one through a PA, and another through a 9 volt powered amp (since this pedal runs on a battery too)
Hi! Do you have to connect the output to a PC? I'm really a newbie with IRs but I'm planning to use this for recording.
Any idea how can I use this for recording like if I have a backing track and I'll play through it?
Great in-depth video by the way... very well made!
I am planning on doing a couple of more videos about this!
@@DoubleDguitar Thank you very much for explaining 😊

Great video. Thanks. Needed a quick lesson. lol My package is “on the way”. LMAO
Thanks man! Enjoy it, seems a few people have recently grabbed one of these. Let me know what you think of it.
@@DoubleDguitar you got it bro.
@@LEDBOO awesome man. I was quite surprised by it.
@@DoubleDguitar wow. I’m really feeling this little bad boy. lol. It did exactly what I wanted it to do and sound. I’m not a big fan of the reverb but I work around that. I didn’t buy this for guitar though. LMAO
@@LEDBOO yeah, the verb is only useable in the beginning of the sweep. Glad you are feeling it, what do you use it for? I am running a bass VI through it a lot.
It has tremolo?
It doesn’t, that would be a nice option. The key to this is not to overdo anything on the knobs. Even a little bit of reverb can seem too much, at first tweak.
These amp types are all Mooer ripoffs- I made myself a cross reference:
1 Friedman Smallbox 50
2 Marshall JCM900
3 MESA/Boogie Mark III
4 Koch Powertone (ch 1)
5 Koch Powertone (ch 2)
6 Friedman Brown Eye 100
7 Mesa Boogie JP-2C (green ch)
8 Mesa Boogie JP-2C (yellow ch)
9 Diezel Hagen
Also I believe the Cab 3 to be a twin reverb and cab 9 to be a full stack dual 4x12
@@mcleanmachut yeah, these and a lot of similar products are all made in one place and rebranded. Thanks for including these notes! That is really cool to know about the cabs.
giviraway giviraway giviraway now ;) I don't think is corny, is in fact a good marketing strategy to push a little up numbers, every now and then give away something, promoting it in social media, as I say, win subs, cost, not so much, specially if companys start to get interested in what you do and give you things to try, win win, ;)
I was just wondering if anyone got that far into the video. Ok, you got it. I will do some research on how to properly pick a random winner from a comment or something along those lines. Thanks George!!
@@DoubleDguitar XD there's a few pages where you enter the youtube link and randomly pick a winner from the coments, so you have to make sure they sub, keep it up David! and stay safe
@@tombstoneisevil thank you, do the same. Thanks for the tip and I will check into it.
I pulled the trigger on this. Dissatisfied with the tone. Can't get any "bass" on the E string, no matter where the tone is set. Not to mention, the manual is chingrish and is not translated well at all, especially when there are so many functions... 3/10
The manual is crazy funny. Interesting about the low end, I have found many of the cabinet models create almost too much low, for me. It took some playing around to really figure out how to save presets and move between edit and patch mode. For the price, it has some merits compared to other units like it.
Have you figured out how to reset the Pedal? Also, I still can't quite figure out how to save presets to 1,2,and 3. Thanks again for your review, very very well done!
I have not tried a factory reset or looked into it. This is where that toilet paper manual really is lacking, imho. Those kinds of specifics.
@@DoubleDguitar exactly I don't play metal and I've found usually for metal it has to do a lot with what pickups you utilize and other pedals you use.
This multi pedal with my blues pedal make my homemade Stratocaster sound fantastic even on an old Yamaha practice amp
These are cube baby’s are going to be Tech21 killers.
Does it take a Tube Screamer pedal well?
