  • Your vehicle may be equipped with an All-Wheel Drive Lock switch, located on the lower left side of the instrument panel, behind the steering wheel. Push the lower part of the switch to toggle between AUTO and LOCK modes. The AWD LOCK light will illuminate when in LOCK mode. For normal driving your vehicle should be in AUTO operating mode. Use the LOCK mode for driving on rough roads. The LOCK mode will change to AUTO mode automatically when the vehicle is driven at a high speed. If in LOCK mode and you wish to change back to AUTO, push the switch again and note that the AWD LOCK light is OFF. You can also cancel the LOCK mode by turning the ignition OFF.
Please note these shifting essentials: You can operate the All-Wheel Drive Lock switch while driving straight. Do not however, attempt to adjust the All-Wheel Drive Lock switch when making turns, backing up, or when front wheels are spinning. If the AWD LOCK switch is operated while the vehicle is accelerating, decelerating or making a turn, or when the ignition is turned OFF, you may feel a jolt. This does not indicate a malfunction.
This is the All-Wheel Drive Warning light. If the AWD System malfunctions, the warning light will either blink or remain ON after you turn the ignition ON. Refer to the Owner's Manual or see your NISSAN Dealer as soon as possible for assistance in this situation. If the warning light blinks rapidly, do not continue to drive as it may damage the power train. Also, never drive on dry, hard surface roads in the LOCK mode, as this could overload the power train, or cause a serious malfunction.
For more detailed information on the All-Wheel Drive System, please consult your Owner's Manual. And in every type of road condition, be sure to drive carefully.
