VAN TOUR | 2011 Ford Transit Connect Camper Van

- This is a van tour of a rare 2011 Ford Transit Connect Camper Van that I built all by myself. Going straight into it, here are the strongest points about this van:
1) GREAT GAS MILEAGE. This van does 21 Miles a gallon whereas other bigger vans can go as low as 8MPG.
2) YOU CAN SIT STRAIGHT. This can is one of the very few out there that you can sit comfortably inside. All Ford Transit Connects after 2013 are not as tall. The extra head space makes it simple to do daily tasks and makes it possible to work remotely from the van if you wish to do so.
3) DRIVES AND PARKS LIKE A REGULAR CAR. If you are not used to driving a big RV, this camper van is perfect for you. It feels like you are driving a passenger car, which makes this camper van's driving experience much safer and more pleasant. Also, parking will not be a problem for you.
The walls are covered in beautiful wooden panels. Everything is organized so you feel warm and safe in there! The walls are fully insulated. The bed inside is a pull-out bed and it becomes a Twin Size BED. There is enough space for TWO People. Other details can be found below:
Electricity:
- 50W solar panel

I wish they would make the high-top Connects again.
That would be amazing!!🙌🏽
Same! Why on earth did they stop!
Yes, they were pretty perfect. Could use as daily driver too. The xtra headroom is everything
I love the sink being mounted on the door and also that the whole drawer supports the bed.
Mine gets 21-23 in town but 28-35 on the road. I love these little vans, have had mine 6 1/2 yrs, thanks for sharing your great build
Very clever design and use of space! You have everything you need, but the van is not cluttered. 👍🏻
It is so effecive and efficience, indeed a real tiny home on wheels. Everything is in there, I love it!
I appreciate the kind words!
Looks great! That's the sort of size of van I'm most interested in, too, so it's great to see a simple, clear build like this in a smaller van!
This is so cool! A great example of minimalistic lifestyle. Well done!
I have 2011 TC XLT (all windows). I recently removed the back seats and built a little bench so I can stretch out. I am looking to make a mini-camper but for now, I am planning to extend the windshield shelf for storage. I like your ideas and the simplicity of your design choices. I appreciate your video.
Great use of space as I have been researching vans for quite some time now. This by far seems to be a great choice and I actually met a person who converted tis same van as well!!! :)- Kudos to you :)-
Love the sink set up in your van! Excellent use of space🧡🚐🧡
I am still building and figuring out mine.
Love watching different designs, and yours are very practical. 😊
Great job on your conversion, Daniel. I love how you used your rear doors. Thanks for mentioning Vanly. I have a 2019 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van and I'm happy with it as far as space. It's been two years since starting van life and I am still working on getting it to fit me and my activities.
Great ideas. Simple, but effective.
Nice original design. Looks homey and fun. Safe travels!
たくさん工夫されてて素敵なVanですね。かっこいい。便利な機能がたくさん。
Very Nice Layout....
Nice style! Bon voyage.
Great build!
Looks lovely
Simplicity at its best! Love it. ....
Where is shower and toilet...
I could live without heat but not AC..don't know how y'all do it with just a fan..I sleep with two fans blowing on me..very hot natured...
Really like your van and your travel buddie...spot on!
Awesome build!✨ I also travel in a Ford Transit Connect! Mine is a no build, because I have zero carpentry skills, haha! Thanks for sharing your build! Safe & happy travels!💛
great vid
Hi Daniel. I just bought a 2023 FTC. I like how functional and creative your build is. How are you doing? Wish you’d make another video.
@@gracielei76 thank you ❤️ making videos is hard hahahaha
Enjoyed the video...were there any issues removing the passenger seat?.I also have a Transit and often wish to do the same but I never found anyone who had done so to find out if there were any ramifications in doing so.
dude, it's soooo easy. I had that idea in mind too but I always thought it was too difficult, but then I had to take it out to clean the carpet and turns out it's just 4 bolts holding it together. Super easy and I 100% recommend doing it. I gained sooo much space!
Perfect!
Thanks for sharing this Daniel. Very fun. Are you a full digital nomad now? Where are you mostly at these days? Also, thanks for the tip on Vanly.
Yeah! I’ve been on the road for 2 years now. Currently in SantaCruz. Let me know if you come through
@@danglyra1 I might do that. Do you have a place where I can park my big 24 foot long van? It's not as stealth as yours. 😀
hello, great job on the video and beautiful build. i am going to look at the same kind of van today. thanks for the info.
cool! let me know how it goes
Where did you get the ladder? Any links?
Very nice!
Is it only impression or does it not have a copilot seat?
Yeah I took it out 🤙
21 to the gallon my transit connect gets 45 to the gallon.
where's the bathroom
Seems like your solar panel and jackery are not nearly enough for the fridge and scooter?
the fridge had to be turned off at night, and the scooter would be charged at the place I went with it.
How you doin ..??
How did you get the solar panel to do that ??
What exactly did you used??
Thanks Nicky.

Thank you!
Hiow did you take you passenger seat? Was the air bag a problem? Thank you!
easy! just screw it off the ground
So, what do you do to relieve yourself?
in a normal situation, I go to any bathroom around town. In emergencies, a large jar with a dog poop bag inside does the job. It's truly not as difficult as it sounds.
@@danglyra1 thanks! I bought a collapsible toilet that doubles as a small stool. But - in a Transit Connect my real estate goes VERY quickly, so always looking for ideas. (I'll be stealing some of yours... ; )
👍
21mpg? You should be getting double that from that van
Great build!
