Thanks for the video. I've been testing the 140a 3665 4000kv version of the hw system in my 3s Infraction and it rips. A couple protek fans help keep temps in check on the motor.
Yes the Kyosho aluminum drive shafts are pretty bad when you go brushless, especially on 3s. Thats why a couple of years ago I made my own shafts for my brushless Fazers, I make them from solid 5mm carbon rod with custom aluminum ball couplings bonded onto each end of the carbon drive shaft. Very stiff being carbon rod & no bending.
I wonder if turning the punch down and keeping the timing up so you still get all the RPM out of the motor would help keep the driveshaft from bending. It seems that it's that instantaneous application of torque on 3s that's probably bending the driveshaft so I wonder if it coming up on the RPM a little bit slower would negate the driveshaft bending but keeping the motor timing up to still get the high RPM. I worry about that off-center vibration of the driveshaft wearing out bearings on the pinion side of the differential. But anyways like we're your head's at and always enjoy people trying their hand at using parts from different vehicles to fix issues and improve upon their vehicles. Definitely an interesting video and thanks for bringing this issue to light.
I will check into the punch settings and back all the way down in hopes of a smoother run. Will keep working on this project and see what I find. Thank you for your feedback and support 💯👍
That's pretty disappointing that their hop up center shaft, that is designed to handle more power, does not actually handle more power without bending.
Thanks for the information presenting another option other than Kyosho's aluminum shaft. I installed the Redcat one here as well and will be upgrading to the same Hobbywing brushless combo as well. How fast did you get it on the 2s lipo with the Redcat shaft?
Awesome video !! What is the redcat part # ?
In the video and in description 👍
@@OMGRC Got it. I can not find the KaniZ center drive shaft anywhere ?
I filled those gaps with clear all purpose silicone. No more wiggles, and keeps the rod in place.

Nice! 👍 what type of speed are you getting?
@@OMGRC I have it geared down 1 tooth from stock for smaller spaces, but it still pulls 50+ mph. With speed gearing it should easily do 70+.

Will be looking into those. Thanks Joe! ✊️
Thank you bro 👊
Very good info Joe 🙌🏽
Thank you 👍

Where can you purchase the KaniZ center drive shaft ??? Can not find it anywhere !!!

39mph on 2s on 0 timing
Right on bro.. Redcat to the rescue!!
I know right! Who would’ve thought👍
@@OMGRC is that the shaft out of the volcano?
@@philthyco1 yes
I put info in the description and part number👍
cool rc and great information
Thank you 👍
Joe put a wing on the back of that truck will handle the speed better
My friend makes custom titanium drive shafts
Hi what size Pinon gear did you use with the new 4100 kv 2 s achieving 39 mph cheers
@@jamiekelly9268 I just used stock pinion gear just used a metal one instead. I believe stock is 32t
@ thankyou very much 👍👍
You think the short wheelbase driveshaft will survive better?
yes absolutely correct !! short shaft didn't bed on 3s 3800 brushless..need to make a hanger bearing support like arrma 3s
Does that esc fit in the normal version of the chasis?
Not without little modifications
