The 2008, Incredible Hulk really credited the viewers with knowing that the origin story of the Hulk was so well known and stuffed it all in the opening credits. That’s how you do an origin story.
That makes no sense as people didn't know this character like they do the hulk, so you are contradicting your own logic. Captain America is how you do an origin story. Also most people know the batman origin but Batman Begins fleshed it out more and made it great. Whichever way you do it, just make it good lol.

Simply an example of how well it was done. With a bit of thought, and origin story can be told very compact and structured way is what i mean. Take the opening montage of Pixar’s UP! as a good example.
The studio didn't care about making a positive mark so mucb as they did a unsightly skid mark. With that being said Hulk still hasn't gotten a solo since then and there was no better time then directly after Infinity War.

The people to blame for this is the marketing department, because they mislead people just like they mislead people on TASM2 by suggesting that Rhino was in the main movie, instead of a credit stinger. The only reason their is back lash is because expectation . If they had left out them In the suits in the movie, if they didn't put them in suits in the promotional poster. This wouldn't be happening. When I saw the trailer part of me thought this is what would happen just based on the vision

What's frustrating as a movie its actually fine , but because you are expecting to see Julia , Anya and Mattie suit up as heros. It becomes disappointing.

one of the things that bothered me in this movie was that at the diner one of the people there was reading the daily bugle and the cover said “3 missing girls” - HOW?! they only went missing that day - how would the newspaper of them missing be out only hours later in the SAME day?!
They want it set in 2003 but with the live news updates of 2023 without the devices to support it so just try to have a newspaper do the same thing.

My theater genuinely laughed out loud during the baby shower scene when they were guessing the baby's name and Cassandra said "Oh, my mom actually died during childbirth" and pointed at Mary's pregnant stomach, then proceeded to make it worse by laughing and then trauma dumping 🤣

I felt soooo bad for Adam Scott in this movie. He was the best part of this thing and was the best Ben Parker ever put on film.
Can we talk about how during the firework scene, they had a f****** bottle rocket absolutely LAUNCH a super human across the warehouse?
The fact that Dakota Johnson (1) hasn't seen Madame Web, (2) is apparently down to return for a direct sequel, (3) couldn't even name the MCU Spider-Man trilogy films by name, (4) compared this film to AI, and (5) reportedly left her talent agency is al because of this is astonishing.
Her dad was the king of make a paycheck. If you never plan on back end, money is money.
meanwhile SYDNEY is actually passionate about her love for the character ....
and is coming off a blockbuster .....

I would have loved to have seen a version that went something like this: Glenn Close is playing the older Madam Web, who is telling her story to us the viewers. We see her younger version getting her powers etc up until now. But in actuality she’s been showing her memories to the person taking her place because she knows she’s going to die. And at the end we find out her replacement is a freaked out Julia Carpenter (Sydney Sweeney).
It does feel like Sony is ruining the IP on purpose to stick it to Marvel Disney. It’s like they’re making it that much harder for them to rebuild or use it when or if they get the rights back.

The only way to end this is for everyone to just boycott Sony Pictures productions (ALL of them) until they agree to sell the rights to the Spider-Man characters back to Marvel.

People are so critical of the Marvels but half the people haven’t seen it. It is a fun movie. It’s not the hard core Winter Soldier type movie. It more Ant Man. Were there things they could do better yes but it was really good
@@occheermommy Ant-Man was never meant to be a "good" movie. He's an ancillary character just there to fill out the roster. Captain Marvel was supposed to lead The Avengers. Saying this movie was as good or even comming close to a level as Ant-Man is as hard a dig as anything I've said. Even then, I still think you're giving this movie too much credit.

There was enormous opportunity for growth of the character here. Her actions caused a civil war that destroyed a civilization, from that destruction a villian destroyed worlds. Yet, Monica is more angry that she didn't call or come to visit? She just outed herself as space "bad guy from WW2" and the other characters barely bat an eye. She sulks for a bit, but then they all join forces and everything is ok again. Where is Kamala's broken faith in her hero? Where is the hesitation to work with her that you'd expect from someone asked to put differences aside and work with a genocider for the greater good. Marvel is so worried about offending women that they can't give this character any actual depth. That's why The Marvels was bad.
Tony was always flawed. He boned up a lot, then grew and fixed it. Cap had his faith in SHIELD crushed and he became a criminal in service to what was right. Natasha was an assassin for the enemy and turned after meeting Clint. After that, her whole being was focused on cleaning her ledger. Even Scott was grounded by the potential loss of his daughter. They started a similar arc with Carol. Then quit halfway through.
Now I understood why Dakota Johnson fired all of her agents.

I just realized that the three Spider-women are going to be Spider-women like 11 years before Peter in this continuity. Which makes Peter like a copycat four times over and Spider-man a derivative superhero.
I remember in an interview, one of the writer said, "madame web did not have a back story", i mean come on, she might not have a full back stories, but she did have a foundation for a good back story, in the comic its explained that her husband made her the equipments that she used as madame web, if Sony really insist on madame web stories they could actually exploit that, tell the story about her and her husband, maybe they could make it a series where she is already a street level clairvoyant and maybe her husband was a cop that need her powers to solve a case, such a miss opportunity
VENOM had the writer from 50 SHADES OF GREY (who is also directing VENOM 3)
MORBIUS had the writers from GODS OF EGYPT (Who are also behind MADAME WEB)

His initial statement was what I have been saying for years. People are so spoiled with the mcu they don’t understand what superhero movies were in the 90s. The mcu has changed the way nerds think movies should be. But there are still people out there that will make movies like this without reading the source material

2. Get an enthusiastic newbie who is familiar with the char., or who is willing to learn, or give effort into the role.
3. Get someone who cared about the fans of the character/franchise.
4. You now have more $$ to spend on vfx and other stuff.
I hate seeing people who would 100% laugh and labelled comic book readers back in the day, now all of a sudden wanna be part of a franchise just cause it became cool and profitable. You can see their distaste in the eyes.

It’s fascinating they seem to be driving the spiderman ip full speed in two opposite directions on both the live action and animated front. They keep making amazing animated films that raise the standard for aniamted storytelling, and somehow simultaneously driving the live action spiderman stuff right off the edge of a cliff. It’s just amazing. There is no middle ground with Sony.
I wonder if part of that has to do with what is going on at Disney. Apparently they are getting sued for how they have been treating their animators. Basically the allegation is that they forced a bunch of their most experienced animators out in order to make more room for diversity hires. Would be interesting to see if Sony picked up a bunch of these animators and that is why they have been making such great animated films.
I don't like the Spider-verse movies so either I'm very wrong or I'm the only one who sees how empty they are.

@@michaelmurray6197 possibly, i know that across the field there has been a ton of talk around huge crunch demands on animation and vfx teams which was part of the writers and sag aftra strike last year. Maybe disney is burning out their best talent and they are going elsewhere. Honestly i can wait 5 years for spider-verse 3 so long as animators are getting treated fairly.

Don't listen to him. Even if you're a fan of Spider-Man and know who Madame Web is, this is an origin story. And like most movie made from comics, they alter the source of the origin. I didn't know her origins. I wasn't a big spidey fan back then and now. But it was an okay movie. It's a B plus at best. And it sets it up where she can show up in other movies later on and we'll see. That said, I don't think this movie deserves a sequel. I mean what is she going to do? Drive around in her wheelchair?

Essentially “replacing” spider-man with Venom and/or spider-woman is exactly what Sony should be doing. Craven actually looks pretty good. Craven hunting Venom rather than Spider-man could be a phenomenal movie.

Sony is fulfilling a contractural obligation to keep a Spider-Man property in production at all times in order to retain the rights to keep IP rights over Spider-Man and affiliated IPs.
How was MCU able to make spider man without the rights? Did they just get permission or?

There Is a license agreement and now contractual binded between Sony and ‘DISNEY’ (who owns marvel and the comic rights literally ) that allowed It to be beneficial to both sides.. however, what gets confusing Is Sony cannot plagiarize from the comics to on screen film without the permission of Disney/marvel itself which is owned by Disney solely.
The deal is that they have a time limit of five years to produce films. If they don't produce a film in five years, the theatrical rights return to Disney.

I've always felt that if Sony really wants Spider-Man in their films, they can either focus on the Miles Morales character, or bring back Andrew Garfield.
Dakota Johnson definitely thought she was going to be in the MCU; she tagged Marvel studios in a social media post when she got the role. After she saw the first trailer and how bad it was, she fired her talent agency. I think she's doing everything she can to distance herself from this movie.
Venom making nearly $1B encouraged Sony to make unserious films like this versus a Miles or Spider-Gwen film.

My husband and I watched it on Netflix last night…we howled for two hours straight. Five minutes in and the movie destroyed itself. It’s crazy they actually released this, but they did!
Adam Scott is a baller. His stuff with Adult Swim, where he reenacts various tv openings was absolute genius. Scott's hilarious, and I want to believe he enjoys comics the same way he enjoys Fast & Furious.
Reportedly, Venom 3 is going to have him face off against Toxin, which would be the third symbiote vs symbiote fight in a row. Gives early seasons of The Flash vibes... It'd be better if at the end of Kraven, we see his next hunt is Venom and Venom 3 ditches Toxin so we can see Kraven and Venom fight. At least then there's some connections. Plus neither has to die. Toxin could still be involved and be the one to break up the fight. Or maybe Toxin's so bad that the other two have to team up in order to beat Toxin. I dunno, but right now none of these are exciting anymore.

@@Sheamus1212 I agree. I was hyped for the first movie, hopeful for the second, and not looking forward at all to the third. For a studio working so closely to Marvel, they've really learned absolutely nothing about... Well, about anything. Can't even seem to connect their movies.
Nothing in any of the movies has come close to having a villain as good as the first season of The Flash.

At this point I get the feeling that these movies - Morbius, Madame Web, probably Craven the Hunter too - are pure contractual obligations & these characters will all get killed-off in slapstick ways in the first act of Avengers: Secret Wars…

I am going on 74 years old. I have been a Marvel fan since I was 6 when "comic books" were 10 cents each. My son and I see ALL the Marvel based movies together. We thought Morbius was "bad". However Madame Web has reached a new level of GARBAGE !!!!! What is Sony's problem. They should fire all the idiots that were involved in making this trash and refund everyone who was tortured by viewing this with interest and an apology.
The first scenes were so fcking funny, because they kept zooming in the face every dialogue like a sitcom 😂
I'll never understand why some people legitimately believe that Sony keeping the film IP for Spider-Man is a good thing. Just because the Spider-Verse films are good, the same can't be said about the rest of the products. It's very clear that the Spider-Verse films are made by a slightly different company that specializes in animation because the passion shows over to the screen. The Spider-Verse films are the exception, but they are definitely *not* the rule.

I laughed SO HARD at this!!!!! When I first watched it, I thought his screen was glitching! And then he blinked and I saw that he was just fuckin’ flabbergasted for a good 20 seconds, lol! I ran that part back about six times!

What Sony wants to do is keep cranking out these mid tier movies so they can hold on to the rights of spider man. Morbius really didn’t even lose money. This might not either. It’s pretty obvious what they’re doing. They don’t care about the bad press, they don’t care about the disasters, they want to hang on to the spider rights.

They already gave you the answer: Madame Web is lesser known - so they can re-create her the way they want. Also you do not need a certain actor/actress (like iron man / thor etc).

I almost went out to the movies this afternoon to see this. Then a snow storm hit, and I stayed in. THEN I saw this video. Thank you, Ryan and Screencrush. I will, instead of giving them my money, be pirating this movie when it comes out (because I still want to see it for myself).
