      Many local bands rented three story warehouse and one nite it was burned to the ground oh man so many rare amps guitars, basses , organs and drum kits. Recording studios. It was the biggest fire in Syracuse NY. Real men crying over the 10,000.00 guitars Marshalls ect. We all were in shock for years.

    I purchase a new 4203 Artist 30 with a vintage 30 12” single, I still have it and love it. I’ll never sell it , it will go to my son when I die. Right now I’ve had both hands operated on left done twice, I can play for my self my fingers are stiff and have trigger fingers that lock up. I get angry at the old fuxker who hit me head on, on my motorcycle, broke my neck totaled spine but I can walk with a cane. Being hit turned me from 23 to 50’s in age in a minute bad brain injury. I died but was brought back sometimes I wish they didn’t . Live 24X7 in pain and drugs helps not a life just existence. Still
    I love my 4203 Marshall amp.

    My JTM 60 had 3 - 10 inch speakers, unlike Johan's 1x15...A combo is nice, but I've stuck with heads and various cabs for over 45 years now. Combos have come and gone. In the late 70's, I had one of the solid state pancake 2098 100 watt heads. It wasn't bad, just different. A lot lighter than a Plexi! Now, If I could find a 4210 1x12 combo, I would snag it in a heartbeat...

    Once upon a time I had a 2187, the 2x12 combo version of the 1987.
    Belonged to the guy who taught me how to work on amps. It was his gigging amp back when, and apparently blew a couple(!) of G12M’s per night. He carried 8 spares at any given point, and would immediately send the blown speakers to be reconed the next week. When he got tired of this dance he installed a GZ34 rectifier to bring down the wattage a tad
    I miss that amp dearly and wish I never sold it… Hands down one of the best Marshall’s I’ve ever heard. With it having a GZ34 in it, I’ll instantly recognize it the instant it pops up for sale again, just hope the bank account is fat enough in that moment!!

      I have a JCM600 in 1x12 config (JCM601) from 1997. This is basically identical to the JTM60, but had the added vent to the top which really helps the heat get away. It just couldn't shake off the reputation of the JTM60 for overheating, which is a real shame, because it is such a flexible amp: beautiful cleans, great gain, both series and parallel effects loops, independent reverb control for each channel, it really is a great amp. Good thing is you can still get them cheap, and work perfectly well as long as it is not jammed tight up against a wall, you need to let the back of the amp breathe! Still, it's not a patch on my 1979 JMP 2103 100W 2x12 combo, it is just a beast😁

The killer cleans and reverb with the vintage Plexi type gain from the clean channel of the jcm600 and the rest of the Marshall tones that I want I get from the DSL 40 ! The crazy part is that the DSL 40-12 inch is louder than the jcm600 head into a 412 cabinet 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it works out great that way.

      I think you meant different gain, and the answer is no. The only British amp that used a lower gain tube might have been HiWatt. There may have been some with 12AT7 in the phase inverter.

    Hey Johan, I have a 2103 100 watter, a 2150 Rock and Roll Baby, a Club and Country lead (and the bass version). I also have a 2100 Paul Weller combo from 1976. You are welcome to come over and do a joint video in my studio of those 'missing' amps from your round up. I also have 900s and a Vintage Modern. In total, including heads, I probably have 30 Marshall amps and around that many 4x12s. Come on over to sunny Lincoln, UK!

    So many great sounds, hard to pick one that’s my favorite. The JCM-800’s of course sounded amazing, I found really liking the JCM-900, too. Never understood the bad rap they get.

    • @cloudconnect
      @cloudconnect 2 роки тому

      Even people who say the jcm900 isn't a bad amp would be able to name a full 2 dozen marshals they'd rather own. The dual reverbs crank up well, but that's it. Not that inspiring when you're in the room, imho. He recorded them well in this video though.The SLX and mkiii are far superior than the dual reverbs and feel vastly different.

    This was great...in 1977 or 1978 I bought a new 2104...it was a 4 input 50 watt without a master volume and I believe it had Blackback 25's (maybe it had a different model number in that configuration,but it looked exactly like the one you have here)... unfortunately,it also came with 6550 power tubes at the request of the U.S. distributor at the time...no pedals back then...you just turned up to 7 or 8!
