Among all the travel channels on UA-cam, this is the best. This channel has not become a sell out like other channels. Going through your old videos Felix and found this one. I had my first flight on a 737-200 by a one month old airline called Southwest. They only had 3 737k-200 at the time and 4 airports, Dallas Love, Houston, Austin and San Antonio. This brought back fond memories.

Wow, 737-200 .. reminds me of my youth around Europe. The 200 had a better wingtip than the 100 I recall, looked more modern with the light housing. The JT8D is a proper jet engine too, not one of the bloody great fan blade jobs and the reverse thrust is brilliant to watch. I went to Madeira in the 80's on one before the runway was extended and they really used it to the max. The captain even said before landing it would be so, just so we were aware. And then you got the President of Zimbabwe on too ! Shame you could not go up and ask him what he thought of the Chompkins potato crisps. Me sitting next to Miss Kenya on a BA flight back from there in economy cannot be beaten though .... ;) This flight review ticks all the boxes for me ! 10 out of 10
And there were two different types of wings for the 737-200s. Those produced until 1971 or so had different wings. That was when Boeing made changes to the 737-200's wings (among other things) to improve its performance in hot and high airports and those with shorter runways. From then on, it was called the 737-200 Advanced and it became standard.
And I thought being the only paying passenger on an Alitalia flight between Rome and Milan, with every other seat occupied by pilots and co pilots was weird and random.
Can’t beat the good old 1980’s technology.. I remember flying in a Dc-10 from Sydney to Europe.. Then got on a Dc 9 .. hope you can go on one of those if they are around .

Or, bankrupt country uses its state airline to ferry its VIPs around. In very poorly maintained ancient aircraft. The president swept up in a state of the art Range Rover surrounded by bodyguards. Hardly slumming it.
You expected the engine to sound better? Well, you weren't outside... The 737-200 has excellent acoustic insulation, otherwise passengers would go deaf in no time! The 737-200's low-bypass engines are as LOUD as they come, and also have a very long sonic shadow (not sure if I'm using the correct technical term), meaning tnat if one passes overhead, you start hearing the sound long before the plane actually comes, and only stop hearing it long after it has passed. I remember an occasion in the early 2000s when I was outside a shopping mall in São Paulo that is right under the approach path to Congonhas domestic airport, just 1 km from the runway, and planes overfly it very low (a great spotting place). At that time, VASP, a now-defunct airline, still used the 737-200, while all other airlines were already using only 737 Classics and NGs, or A320s. The difference was striking, you knew that a VASP 737-200 was coming long before you even saw a speck of it on the horizon, and when it was directly overhead, it was deafening! The Doppler effect was also much more distinct.
I love the way the cabin crew deliver his messages; very good speed and clear. Hopefully isn't caused by the presence of president and senior officials on board 😁👍🏻
I remember flying on a 732 EWR-SYR back in '83. No overhead bins. US Air (RIP). FWIW: Salisbury, Rhodesia, now Harare, Zimbabwe, at one time boasted the world's longest runway at 14,000+ feet. While in the US Air Force back in 1970, a number of us were alerted for possible short-notice deployment worldwide; scuttlebutt had it that one of the likely destinations was Rhodesia (among several others). The call never came, we never learned what it was all about, and those of us who were already alerted for Vietnam went there.
The 200s can be modified to land on dirt strips. The smaller diamater engines suck in less debris. Wonder how many hours past the structural integrity that plane has
It is not every day that you have the LUCK to travel in a classic aircraft, and toast, with the president of the country. Dude, you can play the lottery, sure to win. How wonderful to know that there is still a Boeing 737-200 still flying. Here in Brazil, they have not flown since 2014. That was amazing thank you, the take off was so graceful! Funny thing is I've probably flown in that very plane when it was newer to Air Zim, in the mid 90's. Although I now live in Cape Town, I used to often fly btw Harare & Bulawayo when I lived there. Thank you for bring back such wonderful memories.
737-200 is still airplane of choice in the Canadian north because of suitability for gravel airstrips and cargo flexibility. Modifying this design to unducted fan engines that GE developed in the 80's, including a move to alternate fuels, might have produced similar fuel savings as the Max with Leap engines especially with more composites and less aluminum. This was great tech for 1968. The Max certainly won't be flying in 50 years.
I flew on a couple of these old 737 ‘s operated by Britannia Airways back in the 1970’s they had been fitted with Rolls Royce engines. Due to the noise the engines made ,they took off steeply to gain height fast . The seats were configured for maximum passenger capacity. , so very limited leg room ,knees jammed into rear of seat in front ,about a total of 110 passengers plus crew & cabin staff . The newer 737 ‘s are twice the size in comparison & sound like hairdryers .
I was wondering if the B 727-200 still had ashtrays in the seat arms? Great review and its a shame Zimbabwe is in such a shambles....beautiful country!!

I thought they weren't going to bother deploying the reverse thrust, it appears they only selected reverse idle unfortunately. Full reverse is noisy. Flew in to Victoria falls on a South African B737 back in Easter 1977 and we flew back to Johannesburg via Bulawyo on an Air Rhodesia Viscount and then another South African B737.
1:39 this just shows how advanced Airbus A320 was at it's time back when this ancient thing was built the A320 came out, A320 is the backbone of modern-day aviation imagine how big it's technology was when this thing didn't even have a FMC/MSDU (flight management computer) meanwhile A320 had fly by wire, MCDU, large glass screen and countless amounts of computing that was never heard or seen before in the 80s
Damn, this is really a testament to Boeing re/liability! (of course, before the 737 MAX software bug that led to two crashes and a grounding, which has been resolved)
To me the pilot seemed to soften his/her way of flying this plane. Like u said, I also expected full throttle take off engine power but it didn't. While during the landing the engine reverse was intentionally made a bit late even after the spoilers are open, avoiding sudden act of brake that may force pax to move ahead. These acts perhaps as the consequences of carrying VIP on board :D
Nice video again! I thought you used to use Go Pro too when you're filming an airplane trip, where is that camera now? Broken? Just curious though. Anyway it's a rare thing to fly with the 737-200. But, can anyone tell me why the luggage racks are a bit different than other 737-200s? (I once went to a museum with a fully intact 737-200 and the luggage racks were similar to the 727, and that plane was from 1985)
We always show the equipment used for each video in the description... :) The GoPro just isn't good enough for the amount of filming we do, we switched to the Canon G7X Mark II...

Damn, this is really a testament to Boeing re/liability! (of course, before the 737 MAX software bug that led to two crashes and a grounding, which has been resolved)
thats so cool the president of Zimbabwe was on this flight
To me the pilot seemed to soften his/her way of flying this plane. Like u said, I also expected full throttle take off engine power but it didn't. While during the landing the engine reverse was intentionally made a bit late even after the spoilers are open, avoiding sudden act of brake that may force pax to move ahead. These acts perhaps as the consequences of carrying VIP on board :D
Wow, look at those jurassic turbojet engines!! And pay attention to the size of the seats…nowadays each of them is repalced with 2 seats!
Wow that was so cool! Did you flew on their 762 also?
Wow, you got a great leg room, and I hope you had a great experience with the president.
The GoPro just isn't good enough for the amount of filming we do, we switched to the Canon G7X Mark II...
first time seeing new video about boeing 787-200
Nice, these are some awesome and rare flightreports. I wish you guys did try Aruba Airlines... there is no single (professional) flightreport about this airline on UA-cam last time I searched for. But you keep doing you. Thanks
more video i watch and more i think you are the best guys !!!! compliments for your amazing work
I went there in summer but it was fast jet im from zimbabwe:)
Great trip report its awesome to see a 737-200 still flying
Whoa...Did I just see the plane pushback on it's own power with that 180deg turn or did a tug pull it around that fast??
love these small airport small airline videos
imagine flying on a 737-200, thinking that this will be one of the most unique flights you've ever flown on and then the president of zimbabwe shows up
When you land, and you look to the left in the distance it looks like Air Force One. Could be wrong but it looks like the sky blue color of it.
It's a KLM Boeing 747-400
Flying a 737-200 is a history of all plane models on history
I love the reverse thrusts in the type of aircraft
Great video-quite a Coup travelling with the Vice President. What are the chances !
